Much of the world has been preoccupied with looking at the risks to traditional banking if crypto innovations succeed. But what are the risks if we do nothing? What are the risks if we fail? What are the risks if 2.7 billion people remain systemically unbanked or underbanked, living in the financial shadows?
Technology is not a cure for solving all of the world's problems, but it can often show us where the world is falling short. I grew up poor in the poorest part of the United States. I was the first to get through high school or college within my family, and the very basic human rights and equities of financial access are personal.
To me, the opportunity here is much bigger than money. It's actually about re-architecting at internet scale the type of economic relationships we can have with one another. Circle has chosen to open up this technology for the first time for the entire planet to build on in a way that is open source and that allows people to be the new entrepreneurs of this ecosystem.
