Jinx says that Vi created Jinx, not Silco. Let's see why she said that.

In Vi's perspective, I absolutely cannot fault her for any of her actions. The stream of trauma might have started was when Vi's and Powder's parents were killed, and this can basically traumatize any children, especially Powder. I believe as the result of this, Powder developed severe abandonment and anxiety issues and was very co-dependent on Vi, the only family Powder was close to. If Vi was gone, Powder would feel like she could not go on living anymore. As you said, Vi was her everything. No one could understand Powder but Vi in this dark, cruel, scary reality that no child could live on their own, physically and mentally. In place of their late mother's, not only Vi is Powder's older sister but Vi acted almost like a mother figure to her sister. Unlike Mylo who repeatedly shunned Powder and brought down her self-esteem, she looked for validation and comfort from her older sister. Vi had always been there for her younger sister and made her feel loved and secure. It's why Powder wanted to "be ready" and go any missions in any way possible with Vi to not feel alone, even it meant she could slow the others down. When Vi, Mylo, and Claggor went off to save Vander, Powder not only felt alone and useless that she might not do anything to help them but was also very panicking of a chance of losing her loved ones again just as they lost their parents. When Powder tried to save them, instead of setting up only one explosion, she was so paranoid that her small plan wouldn't work that she set off all of them just in case. After unknowingly killing her adopted brothers and seeing her older sister standing right there, she expected Vi to be very proud of her "amazing accomplishment," like any innocent child wanted to show off something cool and amazing to their loving parents. But when Powder did not get that and realized that she ruined things in the worst way possible, it was too much for her already-broken mind to process what just had happened. It was also all too much for Vi to take and reacted irrationally. For Powder, all she could think about was not being alone again, her worst fear came to light, desperately begging Vi to not leave her and hoping that she still loved her. At that moment, Vi might have felt like Powder was "ignorant" for "not" wanting to deal with the consequence of her action and did not even seem to apologize for what she did. "Why did YOU leave me?" This caused Vi to smack her younger sister in the face and call her a "jinx" to teach her a lesson out of anger. Vi was someone who Powder loved and looked up to so much, more than anyone in the world. Powder's mental state was destroyed what she once knew about Vi betrayed her and her mind had truly begun to crumble down to madness. Although Powder hated herself and her name, she still would do anything to keep her mind sane and wanted to feel love again, from literally anyone, even from someone like Silco. While I imagined maybe at first Powder did not like to be called "jinx" since it was a traumatic reminder of why and how Vi "abandoned" her, Silco convinced and moulded Powder to embrace her jinx flaws and faced them instead of avoiding them. Instead of pushing away her jinx side, she should embrace it. If she's good at screwing things up, she should be proud of them, and not let Vi's negative words and actions crumble her down. To Jinx, Powder was a weakness and nobody wanted Powder. But someone loved Jinx and accepted Jinx, and that was Silco. Again, Powder/Jinx just wanted to feel loved and be accepted no matter what, not caring if her actions were good or not. For Vi's side, it's unfortunate for her that she could barely grasp Jinx's new identity, only meeting her three times in total for season 1. When the two sisters reunited, things seemed to be going well (before Caitlyn showed up) and this gave Vi hope that she could help Powder/Jinx recover from her trauma. However, Vi was very alarmed by how mentally messed-up and unstable her younger sister truly was after their years of separation. Understandable, Vi was under the impression that Silco took advantage of Jinx's broken state and wanted him to stay away from Powder/Jinx. Vi felt so guilty that she called her own sister a "jinx" and that cursed name forever scared Powder/Jinx. Vi wanted to do everything she could to redeem her action and promised Vander's wish that she would "take care of Powder". Vander's dying breath was wanting Vi to protect Powder. The Powder who Vi remembered a long time ago, was at least happy whenever the two sisters were together a long time ago in the past. Jinx, on the other hand, was broken and always depressed, conflicted, and traumatized in the present. Hence, Vi wanted Powder instead of Jinx, thinking it was better to be Powder than Jinx in order for her to be happy. If Vi could not save Powder, what else did she have to fight for? Vi did state that she was always thought about her younger sister and talked about her regret when she was in prison. Each time Jinx held onto that cursed name, it only hurt Vi how much her word and action negatively affected her sister deeply for years, and how she could not take that back anymore. Vi wanted Powder/Jinx to at least be happy somehow and someway but again, because of how different Jinx is now, Vi does not know how to make her happy anymore, without hurting innocent people for the sake of keeping up the name Jinx. In the "tea party" scene, there's a big contrast between Powder accidentally killing her adopted family and Jinx accidentally killing Silco. I imagine Jinx expected to be harshly criticized by Silco for killing him, just as Vi took out her rage at her sister for killing Mylo and Claggor. But unlike Vi, Silco was not angry at Jinx at all and reassured her in a very loving, consoling soft tone even when he was killed by his own adopted daughter. Vi seemed to reject Powder for being herself when she only tried to help and her explosions killed their adoptive brothers. Silco was the opposite and reassured Jinx that she was perfect and wanted her to continue being herself, before he succumbed to his wounds and died. That was why Jinx chose the "Jinx chair." Silco loved his adoptive daughter's current self and was not angry at her in any way, understanding Powder/Jinx more than Vi could at that time. He was there for Powder/Jinx in the lowest points of her life.

great analogy. It hurts knowing that Silco did corrupt and manipulate Jinx, but when you take in the situation of Jinx's fear of abandonment, and other factors like co-dependancy, needing to feel loved and validated, Silco did do that for Jinx right from the moment he took her in. I can see that possible arguments might arise from this, such as the subjectivity of whether or not Silco was a good parent. You could argue that he manipulated Jinx, which is prevalent throughout the series, but as well, you could say too that he taught Jinx to love herself, to embrace her current self, rather than the manipulation and coercion of Powder becoming Jinx. Again, Jinx did choose the chair with her current name on it in episode 9, and Silco did love Jinx the way she was, rather than trying to "fix her." On the other hand, Jinx mightve seen Vi as whats holding her back, throughout the series, Vi does only call her Powder, (or corresponding nicknames like Pow-pow), which was what reminded Jinx of her past. Seeing as her sister cant acknowledge that she is truly Jinx, you can only imagine how hurt Jinx is by that. In episode 9, when Vi believes that Jinx mightve actually killed Caitlyn, (I.E. the whole entire head tray thing) theres a micro expression thats so quick, you would have to rewatch the scene a few times, or even slow down the scene. Jinx says along the lines of "jeez, im not that crazy" and you can see afterwards Jinx does frown after that. Jinx acknowledges now that her own sister is afraid of her, sees her as crazy, rather than to embrace who shes become.

@@mizoboe6193 Silco genuinely loved and helped Jinx in his own way but now that I think about it, I realized that he technically manipulated her and her mental state still kinda got worse (even as he genuinely grew to care about her later on). When Marcus chloroformed and kidnapped Vi, Silco ordered him to kill her and expected her to be dead. However, Marcus did not and kept her away in Stillwater Hold secretly. If it were not for Marcus or Silco, Vi would have been there to comfort her sister immediately. Even if Vi was still angry at Powder for not staying put as she was told to, they would never want to lose each other because they were the only family they had left. If Powder told Silco everything that had happened through her perspective, a healthy parent would not kill Vi and allowed her and Powder to clear up the misunderstanding, because we know that Vi truly did not mean any harm her sister and wanted to apologize and was just traumatized about what happened. Powder/Jinx did hold resentment towards Vi for abandoning her, but she never wanted her older sister to die, so Jinx got pissed that Vi was actually alive this whole time and called Silco a "liar" when she graffited on Sevika's unconscious body above him. But because of Silco's own trauma when he was betrayed by Vander, Silco was as broken as Powder/Jinx and wanted her to "recover" in ways he knew how, thinking she was better off without Vi for hurting Powder in the first place. Lol, I swear, out of all the new names Silco could have gone for, Silco convinced Powder that damaging name Jinx was a "good one." He's no perfect father but he gave her love and support she needed, since we noticed that she never seemed to be afraid of him at all and he allowed her to vent to him about her lingering trauma. So SIlco is both a good and bad/toxic father, lol. (Or maybe he's more bad/toxic father because he didn't have to convince Powder/Jinx to be violent just to prove herself and none of this would have happened if he hadn't kidnapped Vander in the first place.) I did notice the split-second expression in the "tea party" scene~ As much as we sympathized Jinx, she was honestly very toxic towards Vi due to her severe abdonment issue and paranoia, especially tying Vi up and threatened her to kill Caitlyn. It's not fair for Vi and I'm glad that she refused Jinx's "offer" to kill her friend, lol. Because of how unpredictable and dangerous Jinx was when she and Vi met the second and third time, Vi was put under a lot of stress and did not know how to talk to her "calmly" and said things without thinking again, even though this time wanting what was best for Jinx (inadvertly caused her to accidentally kill Silco). I won't be surprised that Vi may still refuse to call Jinx by that name since to Vi, it's only a brutal reminder to her of how much her negative words and action mentally screwed Powder's head since they were separated. It's like if I accidentally call someone "useless" out of anger and I couldn't see them again for years for some reason, they decided to take on the new persona "Useless" to teach me a lesson and I'd feel so bad, lol. I also can't blame Jinx if she still feels angry or distraught that Vi still calls her Powder since the name Powder was a reminder of how much her child-self screwed things up by accidentally killing their adopted family or someone who couldn't do anything right.

Love your post but there is a little point that people tend to forget. The tea partty and the massacre of Vi and Powder family of could sound similar to Jinx (she lost a father figure by her own hand in both) but are not. Vi loved Jinx and has been her letally wound by the explotion she surelly would be able to forgive her with her last breath. But Vi wasn't the one who got killed, was her family. Also back then Vi was a violent teen who had fought a seconds ago so was pumping adrenaline and alredy enraged, add that to all her loved ones were taken away in a grueseome way and you have a violent response granted. Silco other hand is an adult know for being cold, controlated and manipulative, he knows he would win nothing scolding Jinx and has nothing to loose since he is alredy diong so he can look for the best words to ensure than even in death Jinx will remember him fondly. For Jinx there are two similar situations when one person conforted her and other person got enraged, but in reality is a pretty unjust comparation.

People often overlook the parallels between these lines. This shaped Powder/Jinx's ideology. People want to say "Silco made her that way," but she always, always, always wanted to be strong more than anything else. Strong so she could support Vi, then strong so she could support Silco. Her strength came from her proclivity for violence and her gadgets, both as a child and later as Jinx. Unfortunately, she had not learned how to get her gadgets to work yet, and she was still too afraid to get up close and personal in violence (preferring to set bombs while staying hidden). What people consider Silco's "manipulation" is him simply being willing to do the one thing Vi never could: Embrace what makes her different.

Then additionally she's good at shooting , if she grew good at it what would she have been shooting? tranquilizers? maybe tranqs could have been an option but to be truthful theres very small margin for what would have been good or bad for a child who didnt grow up around pacifists and instead aspired to be as good as fighters when her physic and talents lay elsewhere.Say if she was a bomb and shooting prone kid who grew up with the adult ekko then her ideas and examples would be in those smoke bombs and those bombs that crystalized and immobilised __ As she was already powder was set up on a narrow path that any small things could have derailed her,she was the kind of "different" that needed attention and naturing but unfortunately Vi was also a kid and thier brothers' insecurities played on Jinxes' and complimented them too well and their life was too stressful for her sensitivity but then again maybe she got to be sensetive because she had a sister like Vi in a rough environment ,its a tricky thing but "Jinx" was born maybe at the same time that Powder lost her parents ,its just that possibly if Vi hadnt been kidnapped and she had been with Powder after the incident Jinx wouldnt have been as much a mass killer coz Silcos resources and power enabled the worst of her .No one ever considered that even if Vi had not been taken Powder would still have that guilt and it would have worn at the sisters' relationship. Also Powder's might have actually taken a worser trajectory but l digress

I always assumed she chose the Jinx chair because Silco helped her accepting herself as the person she already was at that moment - still Vis sister, but not harmless little Powder any more. By blowing up the council she then took revenge on Piltover for all the bad things that happened to her and that turned her into a violent monster.
@claffy2

Constant manipulation? Where? There's like maybe one scene where he does that, when she's literally stabbing him in the face. In the end, all he did was put her on the same track again. He isn't wrong in the respect that they are both similar and have shared experiences and pain. Jinx is Jinx, Silco is Silco. He didn't raise her to be a mass murderer, it's in her nature. Where in the show does he kill someone for fun? All of his kills are calculated and cunning in order to achieve a specific goal. Yet, he's never shown taking pleasure in murdering people. Meanwhile, Jinx has repeatedly shown that she can kill people, not only nonchalantly but she also has a blast doing it. She shoots birds for no reason, tapes bombs onto fireflies, and planks pranks on people right before she blows them up with her traps. Silco did help her in accepting herself, yes, but Vi wouldn't have been able to stop Jinx becoming a monster even without Silco in the picture. Jinx was inevitable on the day that she accidentally killed her second hand family.

I personally don't agree with your view on why Vi gave the bunny to Powder I feel that this bunny meant something to Vi and for her to give it to Powder was something actually deeper, Vi was going to turn herself in and Powder is very dependent on her so she doesn't want to leave Powder 'on her own' so she gives Powder the one materialistic object that held any meaning to her, sort of like giving Powder a piece of herself. Like saying I'm going away but I will never leave you and as long ad you have this we will always be together. Vi understands that she plays an important role for Powder and it's her responsibility so to say to look out for her and that is initially what she is doing by wanting to turn herself in, she needs to do what needs to be done ro protect everyone and do what's right but she also knows that she can't abandon Powder

Plus people also forget that even though Silco ended up caring about Jinx genuinely at the end, he was initially planning to use her as a weapon. We can all see that how delighted he was finding her at such an opportune vulnerable state (an impressionable child perfect for moulding after being abandoned). This is re-enforced by every scene post timeskip. Everyone in his organization points out Jinx is his weakness. He even talks to her entirely different than he does everyone else. Seeing how Powder turned out, I guess you could also say that it was a result of the Topside neglecting the Underside. If the Underside wasn't so cruel, scary, and a terrible place where violent and vicious people like Silco ran amok, a child wouldn't be corrupted so thoroughly. She never would have lost her parents, never would have had to go on a heist, never had to create explosives that led to such a tragedy, and she never would have been put through the situation where her family was taken away by an evil guy. I think this is also a good reminder of how messed up the Underside can be. While Topside is progressing and their people are thriving, and they have the time to grow up well and have the compassion to make "peace" with the Underside after many years, shit is going down and the people down in the Underside are rotting and dying. I'd argue that there was a person that could accept both Powder and Jinx. It was Silco. Powder isnt souly defined by her love for Vi, in fact, Jinx loves Vi as well. Powder and Jinx can and do exist as a single identity rather than 2 sperate (but I'm not getting into the nuances of that right now) Powder is seen within Jinx all of the time when she softens or temporarily doesn't hear the voices, such as when she opens up to Silco about what happened with the first mission, when Silco baptizes her and when she's having the time of her life working on her bombs. Silco never once cast any of that in a negative light. He never told her she "wasn't herself" or that he "knows jinx is in there deep down" as Vi did with Jinx. Of course he tells her to "let Powder die" but that's his way of helping with her panic attacks and hallucinations. He didn't want that sweet innocent side of her to die. He wanted the fears and debilitating regrets associated with it to die because he knows what that's like. Hell, he doesn't even reject the part of her that loves Vi (bc he very obviously still loves vander and can understand that) it just sends him into a "oh my god, I don't want jinx to leave me" panic. Compare that to Vi, who actively tries to make Jinx stay soft, sweet and innocent due to her dislike for Jinx's mental illness, combat abilities, and love of Silco (who she views as evil) Silco only wanted to manage Jinx's mental illness and continue to live his life with Jinx as both sweet Powder and hardened Jinx. Vi wanted to make hardened Jinx go away so she could live her life with sweet Powder. This is what made Silcos death hit twice as hard. His dying words he spoke to her were "Don't cry. You're perfect" Letting her know that she was perfect as she was, as both Powder and Jinx. To suggest any different would be doing Silcos death a disservice. He was the one that lived with and learned to love both Powder and Jinx. Vi had only ever known her sweet Powder.

Yeah, people saying Silco only loved Jinx annoys me to no end. Powder is fronting in almost every scene we see her with Silco. That would make no sense unless she felt her vulnerable side was safe and cherished with him. Given how softly he speaks with her, how patient he is with her, it is clear he does not want her to lose that side of her. He actively creates a safe space for her to be Powder, while giving her tasks that allow her to be Jinx. He loves both sides of her, which is why he says she is perfect even when she "chooses" Powder by killing him to save Vi.

i’m pretty sure silco would’ve still loved jinx if she chose to sit on the “powder” chair. when she was in a crisis trying to decide her true identity, she couldn’t choose and blindly shot silco. when silco told her that she was perfect, it didn’t matter to him if she chose powder. he unconditionally loves jinx as she is. the only reason why silco couldn’t accept jinx still loving vi was the thought of losing her. silco also has abandonment issues, just like jinx. that’s why in the tea party scene he reminds jinx that everyone will continue to betray them, and even attempting to shoot vi, hoping he wouldn’t lose jinx, the only person he truly cared for.

I agree. If you noticed, Silco did not (try to) say anything when Jinx made her proposal to Vi. "Which chair should I sit in? You decide." Silco said nothing, because he did not care which seat she sat in. It wasn't until Vi changed the terms of the offer, ignoring Jinx's need for Vi to choose her over Caitlyn in the process, that Silco became furious. It became clear to him in that moment that he was right about Vi. She did not love or understand Jinx the way he did, so her leaving with Vi would be harmful to her. It was not about which persona was fronting, he loved both of them. He only wanted her to break away from her trauma by abandoning the name. Vi, on the other hand, wanted her to abandon half of her identity (Jinx), not just the name. He did not only want to not lose his daughter, he did not want his daughter to lose herself.

i don't think he loves her unconditionally. Even though he won't stop loving her just because she does something he doesn't like he will force her on the path he wants her on. Not only because he has the arrogance of a messed up parent, partly seeing her as his invention and doesn't like to be told no, but also because just like you said he has also similar issues with jinx and I think if jinx were to choose a path that didn't involve him he would feel betrayed. Piltover created Jinx. The exploitative nature of the relationship between Piltover and Zaun created a ticking time bomb. Jinx is the embodiment of that bomb and the explosion that brings Piltover to the ground. It's the classic story of a mad scientist creating a monster, and the monster kills the scientist.

@@adrenjones9301 yeah they never actually show the relationship outside of the class disparity and dialogue drops. I can't agree with the assessment. Vi was a literal child / lost teenager who hasn't figured herself sufficiently out, as Vander pointed out. Vi was actually a good parent figure, going by the flashbacks we got (going by a psychiartist). From the portrayla auf Powders character, just taking her toys along wouldn't have been acceptable. It would have further denied Powder the possibilty to learn, like with that roof jumping exercise. It would have likely lead to more mockery by Milo. Vi was at the moment she oversteped traumatized by 3 deaths of family members seeing it was Powder (with her spotting the monkey head), having a dislocated shoulder and 2 1/2 near death experiences. I argue there are almost no grownups who'd acted differently put in Vi's situation and some who'd acted worse. Powder actually had another parental figure in Vander, who isn't considered in discussions like this at all. After the time jump Vi lacked a ton of information and the situations got either escalated without Vi even having the option to change anything or escalated because Jinx literally can't allow Vi any other attachment then to herself. The reading that Vi got somehow surprised that Jinx can fight is imho absurd. They literally fought before together, quite successfully. What does change is that Jinx get into a quite happy murder mode. Last of all, Jinx is a grown up at the end. You can't point every personal failure on another person - which you wish to further abuse - and deny any and all personal responsibility.

though Vi did participate in the creation of Jinx, i think Jinx is wrong she said Silco didn't create her new persona. Silco taught Powder to be like him, creating Jinx in the process. heck, he's the one who put her in that toxic lake because he's been in it and it "killed the weak part of him" and he wanted Jinx to kill her weak side, her Powder side as well. he's also probably the one that told her that all violence is okay to achieve your goals. i mean, Powder was never violent, right ? this mindset did make Jinx stronger than Powder was, and i think that's why she doesn't see that Silco is a part of the creation of Jinx. to her, he made her strong, that's all she sees so she only thinks Vi is to blame because of all that happened in episode 3. honestly, it's Powder's whole story that created Jinx. it's Vi being that model to her, creating this anxious attachment. (this wasn't intentional though, Vi probably didn't know how deep this attachment was, she just knew her sister looked up to her). it's Mylo, always putting her down. it's Vi when she left her for a bit to calm down and not hurt her more in the end of ep3. it's Marcus when he took Vi to prison so she couldn't go back to her sister as she wanted to. and finally, it's Silco who found her, adopted her and raised her into Jinx.

@@claffy2 how did he free her? He let a really mentally ill kid live with NO boundaries and raised her in an environment where killing was normal (more normal than with vi and them) jinx wasn't actually jinx until Silco raised her that way. It's a mix of her trauma and abandonment issues that vi unintentionally fed into and Silco. I just can't see how abandonment issues and the same trauma vi carried as well alone makes jinx. Maybe after the fact that she killed her own family I can see her mind spiriling into the same PTSD and stuff now, but I believe if she went with vi instead she wouldn't be as prone to violence and as chaotic since silco literally gave her no boundaries. She definitely would have been more clingy to vi but I also don't think she'd have as much trust issues since silco pounded it into her head that she was betrayed and all they have is eachother. So she'd be less chaotic (I image reverting back to her mellow self with more panic attacks and way more easily triggered as the current jinx is), less violent, and less trusting issues. Of course she's still have all this but LESS since silco would've be there to tell her everything she does wrong is a okay and to encourage to violent mental tendencies. Instead of helping her, Silco encouraged all the bad thoughts and actions from her mental issues and put a fucking golden star on it.

Silco didnt love jinx at the end, he loved her as his daughter. He was the only person that loved her with all her flaws And that's why her powder side in a way dies with him, and she automatically chooses jinx. But make no mistake. Jinx is still powder. I agree that part of Vi, but a disagree the part of silco. By silco I think that he has support Powder to become who she is now and I don't think that he knows that powder was called a Jinx (and I don't really think thats sevika would tell him that) I think it was powders choice to be called Jinx and he sees this as her way do become stronger, as someone who sympathize with her, he accepted and helped her in his own way. I'm pretty sure that when Powder decided do be called powder, silco would accept this either way, but she decided to Jinx and he accepted it, he accepted who she will be and become. When Vi can not accept jinx. And Silco saying to her "you're perfect" sounds to me like more "It doesn't matter who you will be, you're perfect" maybe I read to much in it, but that just my thoughts

That is how I took it, too. He did not say anything when Jinx asked Vi to choose which seat she sat in. He let her make her own decision, because he loved her either way. It wasn't until Vi ignored Jinx's need (to be chosen over Caitlyn) that he became furious, seeing he was right that Vi would leave her again. Also, in a sense, she "chose" Powder over Jinx by killing Silco to save Vi, and he still told her she was perfect. He loved Powder just as much as he loved Jinx, and Vi could never love Jinx.

you're the first video essayist i've seen who pointed out that vi let her sister get bullied for years right in front of her and did nothing meaningful about it. we see her confront mylo later, but it was far too late at that point, because powder believed that vi agreed with mylo. not necessarily because of what she said, but because of her inaction when it mattered. idk... as an older sibling with a similar age gap, it's hard not to judge vi harshly for it. it's one thing if the kid brother or sister is bullied in school when it's out of your hands. and you just can't protect them all the time even when you want to. but to have it happen right there, multiple times, and just let it pass is hard to forgive for me. but that's part of the character-writing that makes this show so precious, everybody has deep flaws. the masterful tragic twists of arcane stem from the feeling that they are inevitable on some levels, and so, easily preventable on other levels.

My view: Vi made a lot of mistakes with Powder, not just the ones pointed out in this video. Powder was a young child. Vi should never have taken her on missions, particularly dangerous ones. I totally get that she wanted to help Powder become capable and feel like part of the group, but she could have done this by having her help with prep supplies, devise tactics etc - things that Powder demonstrates capability in without putting her in harm's way. Vi could have still taught her parkour without it being used for missions, more to help her run or navigate away from trouble. She could have joined missions when she was older, if/once she actually was able to handle all the aspects that come with it. She kept telling Powder that she's ready - so the one time she tells her she's not, totally breaks her. It's a betrayal and would come across like she's never believed she was ready to begin with. So of course Powder would feel abandoned and worthless and desperately want to find a way to prove herself. Vi knows how dangerous her missions are, and how dangerous the Undercity can be. Just because she's grown up a fighter (and it would appear this was condoned by Vander, at least in some ways), it doesn't mean Powder should have been exposed to more of that and pushed in that direction. Vi can't have it both ways - she can't expect Powder to be exposed to all the trauma, hate for Topside and enforcers, encouraged to help on dangerous missions etc, and remain sweet and innocent as well. She wanted a better life for Powder, but immersed her in things that only served to compound her misery. Of course Vi is a child herself, and should never have been placed in the situation where she had to act as defacto parent. She can't be expected to have the skills necessary to parent a traumatised child. Vander is ultimately at fault for not shouldering that responsibility.

I don't think Vi created Jinx: Vi is still a child herself. Jinx was allready with Powder on the Bridge, in episode one (scribbly face on enforcer) If at all the violent and traumatising systhem of piltover created Jinx. And Vi, being a human and no god failed to do the impossible to save her sister Powder from the terror of structural violence. I actually think violent sythems like piltover, but in the real world, are exactly how terrorists and murderers are "raised". Like Piltover summoned Jinx, the violent systhem's of our world summon violent people to leash out at us.

But Vi kept her controled, Jinx never had the need to take full control because Powder was feeling safe and loved around Vi, even if others got angry at her, Vi was always there to defend her and give her the good speech. The moment Vi is taken away Powder losses that support and Jinx start taking control, encoraged by Silco. Vi never had let Powder kill for fun, but Silco encoraged that behaviour. Vi didn't create Jinx, she was the leash who kept the alredy existing Jinx under control.
