Introduction
A quick disclaimer before we get into the content of this video. For one I have never played League of Legends so any of the lore that goes into this prequel like series I have zero clue what that means for the future of the show or the video game. I only know the context from the show…
and the bigger disclaimer is that in this video we will dive deep into the character and writing of Jinx, the main character of the show or at least the centerpiece of the narrative. We will be discussing mental health and some traumatic events that bring forward the fantastic character writing for this character and what those experiences can do to someone over time. Before we get into that, just in case this video doesn't do well and I don’t make another video on Arcane before season 2 here is my explosion of love for the show.

Please note: we know silco was being truthful the interviews with the directors and voice actors confirmed this. On top of that, Silco when saying "you're perfect." Was explained by silcos va. Silco was saying jinx was the embodiment of zaun. She is what zaun stands for. This is why silco would never give her up or hand her over. Jinx isn't just his daughter. She's the nation he fought for. The very ideals he stands by

Jinx absolutely is a brilliant character. People like to call her a knock off Harley Quinn, and I can certainly see why, but with Arcane she transcended far beyond that. She's violent and terrifying, performing mass murder and smiling with glee while firing a minigun, and yet you hurt for her. You can't help but feel sorry for Jinx because despite all that, we know that inside is just a scared and lonely little girl, tormented by regrets and insecurities, wanting nothing more than to be loved. For me, she is a perfect villain and a perfect protagonist, because she fills you with dread for what she might do to other characters, but at the same time, you're rooting for her.

Great breakdown of the character for sure. A couple of things that I noticed on re-watches, when they were on the bridge and meet Vander, Powder has no real reaction to seeing the parents, until Vi reacts, and even then it's a muted response. So even that long ago, she was relying on others for normal behavioral queues. Then after, I think only two characters are shown actually speaking directly to her; Milo and Vi. Ekko and Vander both interact with her, but never says anything to her. Claggor only references her in the third person. She was very isolated based on what we see.

Claggor was competent, humble and kind, which must have made his ambivalence towards Powder just as hurtful to her ego as Mylos open disdain for her.

@@caiuscosades362 Personally, I think Mylo's disdain was overblown. They were competing for the bottom of the social hierarchy in their little group, and he was the only one that actually felt threatened by her competence, as was shown when they were competing in the shooting range. They were the thinkers and the screw ups of the group, though in different ways. In the entire group, I think that Mylo was the one that had the absolute most respect for her, even if he would never admit it.

Someone made a great vid about how Jinx's character arc in Arcane season 1 is an inversion of the Hero's journey. Also Silco was being honest when he said he would never have given Jinx up. At first watch one might assume he went to Vander's statue to deliberate whether to give her up or not, but he had already made his decision, that was why he went to "speak" with Vander. "Oh it all makes sense now, Brother." He knew why Vander stopped fighting, why he chose his kids vs his and Silco's shared goal. Even his statement "Is there anything so undoing as a daughter?" is a final acknowledgement of his decision, a last lament of what he is giving up for someone he genuinely loves.

This show broke me apart and showed me something about my younger self I suppressed all my life. Arcane deserves all the praise it gets and more! Very heartfelt commentary, will keep watching, thanks and take care!

Im soooo in love with Arcane , its pure art on a other level After 5 month and watching many times this show, i still cant get Arcane out of my head And it still hurts like the first time watching Arcane....absolute no improvement in sight^^

Honestly I think Jinx and Silco are some of the best characters I've seen in anything, not just Arcane. Yeah they're the bad guys and you can say "Oh I see this inspiration (Harley Quinn, the Joker, etc) in the writers depiction of them yada yada yada" but they just hit so hard, they're such _perfect_ representations of the tropes they embody. I've seen a lot of stuff with Harley Quinn and the Joker in and some of it I've even thought was pretty decent, but nothing has landed as well as Jinx and Silco, I literally can't get them out of my head, whereas Harley Quinn/The Joker the best examples (Arkham Asylum games) I think "hey that's pretty neat" then move onto the next thing.

Great personal character study... perhaps you should do more when the mood takes you? Appreciate the content warnings too. Arcane and its characters are absolutely worth talking about. Re MH and diagnosis - just do what the Psychs do - if someone fits parts of multiple diagnoses, just say they have BPD - borderline personality disorder. - I'm only half joking. I have a very old psych degree and previous experience working in MH, and this is how it goes quite often. Mental health systems are still in shambles, but at least these days, mental health is less taboo to speak about. Thank frack for that.

I don't think she will be completely redeemed. But I do think her and Ekko my patch things up and stay in the loose friend's circles after the third ark came out, I saw a comic of Jinx and Ekko on the same bridge but this time they were not fighting it opened up with ekko say's you know you hurt me! and she replies you hurt me to Then Ekko starts fumbling with his word trying to fish for a apiology from Jinx but Jinx being Jinx would not let him have it and instead tells him the she forgives him and starts walking the opposite direction heading to Piltovers direction but then Ekko turn and say's wait not what he met and ran after her don't think the was a Quist Dence and it may happen as they go to blow up the hextower. Also, with Mel's mom in town and pending on what Mel's fate is my be bent on revenge and may bring her army which may be what's needed to get Ekko and Jinx to make peace with each other as they blow up the Hextower to stop the noxian Army. We may also get Swains name dropped at this season which with Mel mom's defeat you may hear about his Que where he overthrows the old ruling body and place him self as the new ruler after all when Mel's mom was interduce the man I believe she was talking about was Swain and also being gone does not translate as dead like she got Mel to think happened but what if Mel's brother bought into what Swain was selling and joined his faction? Which to someone like Mel's mom to her he may as well be dead.

As Ekko says to Jinx in the video game, "I used to have a crush on you until you started talking to your guns!" Ekko is the person that knows Jinx best in the whole world, but... too much has happened. Jinx is broken, angry, and hurting. She can't be the person Ekko would need at this point, and he can't give up everything to be the person she needs. All that is left between them is, what could have been.

This was a great breakdown; only thing I'd mainly disagree on is that Vi abandoned Jinx. A more accurate way to describe it would be from Powder's perspective, it looks like Vi is abandoning her. I know that doesn't make the situation better in any way, but come on now. Vi was a child in the scene too and had no intention of just LEAVING Powder there. She was aggressive with her, understandably infuriated by the mistake Powder made, and didn't know how to react other than how she always does: with her fists. Doesn't make it okay to punch her little sister, but the emotions and devastation is so high at that rate that I don't entirely blame her for lashing out. In that moment she realized that she took it many steps too far. Therefore, had to momentarily exit herself from the situation in order to regain control over herself. She called her a jinx out of anger, but I don't think she really meant it. Vi was the first and main person to understand Powder way before Silco got into the picture. Silco may have thought that was genuine love in his eyes, but it never was. He is in fact nuanced and to a degree I do see their father/daughter dynamic, but at the end of the day he's just feeding into her most destructive desires because it serves him. It's what he wants too. If she acted differently when she was younger in any way, then she most likely wouldn't have been alive in the future. Luckily for him, she was easier to manipulate and mold into the person she wanted him to be. His weapon.

They are setting up her death in the season two finale, either by Caitlyn or Vi. It would be a huge mistake, but the teaser kind of spoiled it. Jinx “I’m glad it’s you,it had to be you” 😢😢

No one is going to die. I don't know where that idea of dying as a part of everything in media nowadays comes from. But Jinx is a character in League. Killing her would mean removing her from the game. Why would you want her to die anyway? For shock value? I'm sorry but Arcane writers are not as dumb as that to rely on shock just to drive a point. Killing Jinx would not result in anything useful to the story. Plus she's the most popular character in League. It would be a dumb move to kill her in a series that is meant for her.

Seriously though! I hate that people interpret that as her "abandoning" her when in reality it was so she can have a moment to herself after a horrific and traumatic moment! Vi had to grow up fast in that world too and went through it all as a CHILD. Not just Powder/Jinx. It's like if someone is an argument/situation that is so emotional and heated that they have to physically leave to collect themselves. It's pretty much that but under the worst circumstances. smh

From Powder’s POV she did. Powder did not see Marcus,all she knows is that Vi said Mylo was right,she is a Jinx. Instant Trauma. May not have been Vi’s intention but her words had serious weight since Powder looked up to her sister. It is really tragic.

Well, shit. When you started wrapping up, my fist thought was, "What?? It's barely 5 minutes in!"... then I looked at the time stamp. Very well put together, and I agree 100%. Jinx might have been a jinx, but she was our jinx, and deserves all the love thrown at her. 🥲
