Shot over 8 months, this video showcases how from an empty warehouse we built our own Film Studio! Cut to a Beastie Boys track that we've taken upon ourselves to destroy, in our own special way, this mash-up of timelapses and gags documents our approach and methods in transforming a warehouse in to a studio.

I did something similar a few years back with an infinity curve setup for green screen. The compound curve corners were a total sod to get right. I recognise how much work you guys put in.

Bestie Boys are still the most unique classic style that is often imitated but cannot be duplicated, LOL. House of Pain came close but still not Bestie Boys. They put Hip Hop and Metal together in the 80s! ❤💯👍

You know a shot I'd love to see you recreate? The shot of Neo deciding which pill to take in "The Matrix." Specifically the angle where it's the reflection in Morpheus' sunglasses.

Pete and Tommy are huge Spaced fans (we lifted the kettle/tea/blowtorch lighter bit from the robot wars episode) and Pegg is a bit of a hero to us. And fun trivia fact, both Tommy and Pete were zombies in Shaun of the Dead. (P)

If you fancy a new idea, (somewhat advanced, but totally freaky), how about the slit scan "stargate" effect from 2001: A Space Odyssey? You will need basic motion control via a motorised track and dolly, (and possibly remote focus automation), but the principle is fairly simple.

This channel has some seriously great content. Came across it through KZfaq's algorithm and have been learning a lot. Would love to see a few videos on what could be accomplished with a phone camera, a super low budget, and creative techniques someday. I fully expect this channel to really take off. As a filmmaker myself I have been wanting to build my own studio for years. So far I got a green screen setup in the spare room with sound foam and some LED lights. We all start somewhere.

That song was amazing. Also ch check it out was mu favorite song in summer school i was 6th going to 7th grade. My mom picked me up and showed me the cd and we drove around listening to the whole thing. Thx for showing us how the studio was made not a lot of people see how much work goes into seeing the final product of what we see.

Great seeing a channel to replace the brilliant Shanks FX tutorials. It was such a shame when he disappeared a few years ago. I’d love to see you incorporate more experimental techniques like slit scan or maybe even mess around with film and an optical printer. Either way amazing content here, there truly isn’t enough emphasis on the brilliance of practical effects, or demystifying them without hours of vague or dead end internet research

This was wonderful! I really enjoy seeing the personalities and quirkiness of you guys! And my goodness, the quality of all your videos is so top notch! One question, when making the lower corners on the infinity wall how did you make that curve? It looked like small strips of wood but I couldn't tell for sure.

Yes thick ply (curved) cross sections with batons running the length in between, then covered with thinner flexible ply and a final sheet of flexible plaster board.

The deeper it is the better it works for the effect; if it's too shallow it really doesn't work as well. For a Studio of our size this was basically the minimum depth

Hi! So awesome! I have an opportunity for funding as well and I have to build a studio too. I've never done it before, so who do I have to hire to build it? A general contractor? Probably not, right? Did you buy a warehouse and then hire a company to build it? Again, great video! And as a 90s kid, I love the rap LOL

Hi there, that's great and sounds so exciting! Our Studio was literally built by Pete, Tom & a very good engineer. You'll need somebody who knows their stuff as the maths behind constructing the cove was difficult, but apart from that, it was 'simple', just an awful lot of labour hours to get it all built! We rent the warehouse, it was just an empty shell, took 8 months of just the 3 of us constructing it to turn it into the Studio we have today
