Hey Gang welcome back! In the previous video you saw us put our ceiling up and now it's time to rip down another wall and start on our custom pantry! That pneumatic tile chipper is a game changer for us and we have definitely gotten full value out of that tool. Removing any type of floor is a big task so make sure to be fueled up that day! Let us know if you think we should put an outswing door on the exterior wall and also be sure to share what you think our pantry niche is for! Putting that bevel on the end of the pantry was definitely the right call and we're pretty excited about that decision. If you have any comments or questions be sure to leave em down below! Thanks for watching and thanks for all the support, we'll see ya in the next one!
We've got just a few more t-shirts on the website available then they're gone for good!

Have the door swing infront of the washer/dryer? People dont usually need to get right to their laundry from outside and then you could do a coat rack in that open area for right when they come in. Just my opinion :)

Good or bad I use my W/D as a temporary drop spot coming in from the garage; groceries, mail, purse, etc. I would not want the doors swinging in front of them.

Keep the inswing, but have it swing the other way? Relocate the lightswitch. Then put a bench, coat hanger, and open storage in the empty space.

1977 and 1978 last two years of school I took carpentry in our local vo-tech taking the carpentry course. Trade classes built two houses each year. Graduated and teacher complained that I gave up carpentry for a beverage company. During construction I was getting good at doing the door trim and other trim. Enjoyed the class@

Sometimes your able to cut the birds mouth into the top of the binding post and notch it into a strong back laid across the top of the joist to take the split tendency away from the heel cut but giving the joint a solid load rest. You guys kick ass, always putting out clean work. Hats off to you boys! Smashing the "like"... , like always.

If you have a switch that doesn’t do anything, and it’s an older house, it likely controls one of the sockets or both on a plug for switched lighting. Ceiling lights used to be less common, so lamps were wired so that you could control them from a wall switch.

Man that pole scraper thing is amazing, I remember it from a previous video. On a huge project that is the only way to go. Doesn't an outswing door have the hinge bolts on the outside? That's a security risk. Jordan had a great idea on that cut corner!

I like the idea of moving the washer and dryer back. That is extra space for the life of the house. If you have the side room, I found that there are kits for most dryers that allow you to vent out the side instead of the back.

Hi guys, firstly check your local building codes in regards to the door swing direction. Does it need to be fire rated? If so does it matter which way the doors hung. It looks like a carport / garage to me, does the owner park (or potentially) their car in there? If so would two cars be able to fit without the door opening into them? Also make sure you the correct hinges for security reasons. Personally I wouldn't mind an outswing door if its doable.

7:12 an outswing door is an awesome idea, I might steel that for our laundry, its a tiny little room, its only about 500mm wider than the door (so around 1320mm) and its always a hassle opening the door inwards.

Always enjoy your videos. This is a great project and amazing that just the 2 of you take on such big jobs and homeowners are still in the home ! I renovated my own 2 family Duplex style house by myself. Could live in one side while doing the other. Gutted 2 bathrooms and 2 kitchens. Demo work and hauling the debris was the toughest. I broke up 2 cast iron tubs located on the second floor and tore out the tiled walls......Tubs were from 1948 and must have weighed 300lbs.....Busted them up with a 18b sledge and carted it all downstairs, 1 trash can at a time.....Not fun......The pushups were funny....My old geezer body can't do 'em anymore....lol

I'd change the outside door swing so it opens against the dryer. Keep it an inside swing for various reasons. But this is the 'mud room' entry so by swinging it against the dryer you open all that space for walking in and give space for boots, whatever. Nice work and great explanations and education as usual. Loved the pushups! And done pretty well too! Warms my old drill sergeant heart! :-)
@CitEnthusiast
@CitEnthusiast 3 жыл бұрын
@@adsbadsb9488 That's a good point, but even as it is the door would not open if the dryer door is open, so changing the swing is a wash IMO. But, with the dryer there you could make a stronger argument for an outswing door.

instead of spray texture on the walls, ceilings have you tried Skip Trowel texture. Looks much better than old style spray on orange peel, and it covers all errors. Flat looks great till someone dings the wall and it stands out a mile away. We did this on our house and that is one of the first things everyone points out and likes.

Haven’t tried skip trowel. One thing I’ve noticed as I’ve worked around the country is the regional differences in finishes etc. Where we are orange peel rules. Anything different means bucks 👍👊. You’re right about flat. Seems like it would be easier but patches and paint are tougher

As a seasoned pro with over 35 years experience it’s always refreshing to see that there are others out there like me who have exacting standards and refuse to compromise them. It brings me back to my days as the right hand to my father and nowadays on the few occasions that I get to work with my own son. Your love and respect for one another makes this channel so much more special than any others out there. And of course expert carpentry is the cherry on top of the StudPack cake!!!! Keep it up guys!!!
