Augmented Reality is a powerful tool, and the best part is that this video is in the realm of possibility. In fact, I could just make this on Lens Studio and turn this into a playable Snapchat filter if I wanted to. The only thing stopping me - legal stuff.

Watching this was so trippy and cool at the same time. I would love if something like this was actually released in VR and made a reality. Someone needs to take this idea and make it real. I'd be playing this all and every day. Awesome job, this is out of this world.

Holy crap, from the thumbnail I thought it might have been a 3d printed art piece or something similar, but then when DK started I realized what it really was and, wow, that's freaking cool. I'd love to live in a world where these old games are playable as ARGs.

@@retrohead I've seen it as well :) This DK game would also look so cool using the Lenovo AR glasses I have(star wars one's)🤓 or the Quest 2 in passthrough mode/side loaded. I wonder if you just rendered it or used some kind of AR for it?!? Pretty sweet :) I wish Nintendo would release AR glasses with games like this. I could get behind that. You could also release your own version of this for an existing platform out there. People would pay for stuff like this for sure.

Seriously doubt there is any AI going on here or actual gameplay. Looks like a canned animation played back in AR in realtime. But happy to be proved wrong with some evidence.
@retrohead3 жыл бұрын
@@GeoffSuttor Animations would work if everything in the game was done with animations. That's how I did some of my previous videos. In this case the barrels are generated at run-time with code and their movement and drop is all done in real-time, so mario can't be done with animations, cause you don't know where each barrel is going to be at a certain time.

The Pixel Ripped series of VR games uses this concept. I mean it's all in VR, but it's like a game within a game. You're in VR, but playing a video game in VR, and occasionally the video game bleeds into the "real" world (in the VR world of course) and you have to do things in the "real" world to affect the video game. It would be kind of neat to see that actually taken into the real world, using pass-through cameras or AR glasses. The game would need to be able to analyze the environment and figure out how to turn it into a navigable stage, which is no easy feat, but by no means impossible.

This is cool and I could definitely see this existing in the future, but I feel like it'll probably end up being a gimmick to play 2D games in AR, you just wouldn't gain anything over playing on a 2D screen. After a while I'd imagine people might only use their AR for retro stuff if they didn't have a small screen around to use
