It was true that the Roman empire saw Christianity as a cult and the Jews saw it as a sect of Judaism that had different teachings to what they thought was correct, but seeing how one third of the world at least claims to be Christian, I do not see us as a cult and people in religious studies who are not Christian would even agree.
