Currently our best understanding of the universe, General Relativity isn't able to describe or explain singularities in a way that makes sense. In mathematics singularities do exist, but that doesn't give us an accurate description of reality and what lies beyond the event horizon. Simply put singularities are a consequence of mathematical idealizations without foundation in physical reality. So singularities might exist or might not exist. We simply do not know as of now. It's possible that that will never know, but currently singularities make the most sense.

"Getting rid" of the event horizon isn't quite how this would go, if you overfeed it just right you can shrink the event horizon onto the singularity, so you could make the inside of the black hole not have any volume but never destroy it (any more than you could destroy the singularity).

Actually you can survive inside a black hole, you just have to find a enough big black hole. Spaghettification is a risk only for small black holes; if you find a supermassive black holes, you would be able to cross the event horizon alive. The problem is that since space and time are warped so drastically inside it, you would die of old age far before reaching the singularity. The event horizon is a point where space and time has flipped. Meaning when you are past that point, you are no long falling towards a point in space but a point in time. The instant you cross it anything on our side cannot observe it, because it is moving through time faster then us. The way I understand this is that you could break the event horizon... but the singularity is still at the end of time or black hole. If you break the event horizon would you not just break the fabric of spacetime around the singularity, just cutting the black holes connection to the end of the universe or to the singularity? Because there is finite mass and energy to a black hole its end might not be the end of time, but when that black hole evaporates. I would also argue that at the end of a black hole you wouldn't have anything left, information i mean, that could be conserved or reverted back to it's previous form. Because the same amount of time has past that matter and particles break down. A black hole is just a "fast lane" to the end of the black hole. You could think of it as the Event horizon to the singularity on our side looks like a measurement from the event horizon in space to the singularity at the center. Where in fact the measurement is the event horizon as a point in our current time, to the singularity at the end of the black hole's life.
