I don’t understand how people can skate with essentially only 2 wheels. I don’t find the thought comforting at all. aren’t you sacrificing stability and grip? As it is, I fear sliding out with all 4 wheels on the ground - as a teen one pair of skates had horrible hard wheels that were really bad at gripping and it was terrible. What size and durometer are your wheels? Are you skating softer wheels to maximize grip then? Also…what’s that machine?! There’s something that helps with setting up wheels?! That’s amazing! I actually hate it so much I just bought extra bearings. But forgot to get extra spacers off course 😅

rockered setup is usually just for slalom, tricks and inline figure skating because it's easy to maneuver. But if you're more on city skating, casual skating and speed skating, flat setup is recommended. Skating on 2 wheels is wobbly, and that is the point for that setup, you want a setup that you can easily maneuver turns into.

This is about a 2 mm rocker which is big,it's too specialize in slalom not normal skating,these days there are also frames sold for wizard skating with a more subtle rocker ( 1 mm or less)these can also be used for normal urban/Street skating. Even with a normal flat setup the wheels wear and produce a natural rocker effect.

Once you try rockered, you won´t go back. I mainly skate in the city, and It feels amazing, so agile to pass thru cars and stuff, I recommend you tryng it.

The type of inline skates I have seen that have a rocker type setup are off-ice figure skates that a lot of ice skaters use when they're not on ice which in turn allows them to do tighter turns or spins

Coming from ice, I had a Hilo set up for hockey. However, I couldn’t go backwards and spin very well. As soon as I went full rocker, it’s like I’m on ice again. Went to the rink for the first time in 20 years and got a lot of attention. 😋

Changing the frame is a rocker design. Wheel size has a similar effect, but it isn't the same.

So true!!! Specialized new frames are more expensive than a new set of wheels, so if your just trying it out and not super serious about a true rockered setup this is an easy fix :)

I've thought about trying one of the Endless frames (have to be the Trinity version for my skates), but I think the center of gravity would be higher, and I think it would be 90mm wheels. I'll probably try it one of these days.

@@PollySkates I did have fun noodling around on the 80/76, and I can see where it would be great for slaloming (?), but it's a little unstable. Could work with more practice I guess, or maybe if the 80s were softer. I found virtually every size wheel from 45mm up to 120 - 78 seems to be the one size they don't make.

80mm for beginners are fine. but if your question is regarding banana rocker setup, usually the outside most wheels should be -10mm from your 2 inner wheels. so yours is 80mm, 70mm should be your outermost wheels. i've tried to do a setup where it's -6mm from the innermost wheels, it's fine. but I feel that -8mm works, it's so maneuverable compared to flat setup. But my suggestion would be, since you're a newbie, get used to the feeling of the flat setup, then once you feel like it's super easy already for you, then rocker your setup already. rocker setup is super wobbly at first.
