in the minecraft 1.17 caves and cliffs update shulkers will get a duplication mechanic that effectively makes shulker shells renewable. the mechanic looks very cool, but how useful will it actually be? will shulker farms be easily achievable? today we put it to the test.

Yes because you can run out of end citys or the other ones are too far away, i think a farm is a goood idea

Yep. Especially since the Looting Loot tables for Shulker Shells are different on Bedrock. They can drop a max of 4 Shells with Looting III, so I'm chilling 😎

Tips for shulker farming 1. Shulkers can hit themselves with their own bullets and create a new shulker. So you don’t need two. 2. Shulkers that have a fully opened shell have a higher chance of creating a new shulker :Here is an image example 1. Closed shell [] 2. Slightly opened shell [x] 3. When attacking or fully opened shell [ X ] You want them to hit their shell in this state (fully opened shell) for a better chance of getting a new shulker. 3. The fewer shulkers in the area. The higher the chance of a new shulker spawning. If you only have 1 shulker, and it hits itself you have a 100% chance of creating a new one. 4. The old shulker teleports away, while the new one stays in its place. 5. If there are more spots for a shulker to teleport the higher the chance of them multiplying (-ludology)

When the shulker in the boat goes into the end portal you can shoot the boat with a bow and the shulker will go through.

What if you put a platform far in the void. Then got two Shulkers that way they can’t teleport. And got them to hit eachother

They need somewhere to teleport to or they won't be able to duplicate and die. The shulka that gets hit teleport leaving the new one in its place. You need walls for them to teleport to which periodically has water dropped down, making them unsuitable. They'll then teleport somewhere else, if the only other spot available are blocks with 24 mine carts on, they'll die from entity craming. You only need the farm in your ticking area for it to passively generate shells.

This is insane. I can already imagine big farms with loads of health potions and specific places where shulkers could spawn. I dont know if the shulkers can spawn in stairs or blocks of that sort tho

I have another solution to the whole transport shulkers thing: *Just do your farm in the End.* Mojang want to motivate players to spread their bases across their world. Why not here?

If you want to get shulkers into the overworld, slab over the 17x17 area around the end portal, then have them teleport onto the block above the portal on the bedrock pillar, then use a piston to push them through. Hope that helped.

Thanks for this experiment I am also trying to figure out a shulker farm from 2 days 😊 Here is somethings I discovered 1. They always generat a new shulker when they hit themselves 2. They can hit themselves so no need for two 3. You were trying it with two shulkers but there Is a higher chance every less shulker so if you remove 1 shulker there's only 1 left so it has a 100 % change of generating a new one 4. They also attak snow golems so you don't need to stant there and be the target That's all I know I hope this helped you

Great video wattles.. If you surround the end portal with redstone dust(17x17 I think) they can be forced to land on the bedrock pillar in center then pushed through with pistons

I think invisibility potions are going to come in clutch when you set these up. And it will probably be easier to build a farm and then move the shulkers into the farm with a boat or cart. Also, would you be able to use a piston to raise shulkers in boats to the platforms? do shulkers need to be up against a block? And would having water pouring over walls help keep them contained in a smaller area?

Wattles (and everybody watching), here's something you might wanna try: If you need to move a mob by rail, put them in a boat on top of the rail line, then push a minecart into them. They'll get in the cart *while still in the boat*, and they will RACE to the end of the track at maximum speed. No powering of rails required. Unless you want to automate it, I suppose. Could make for a decent rollercoaster. Haven't attempted it as a player, just with mobs. Made getting villagers into my iron farm (Thanks for the vid on how to build that, btw!) super easy. As well as getting the zombie required into it really quickly and easily.

If you could work a dispenser in with regeneration arrows I feel like that would increase the viability of these sorts of farms, and are a totally worthwhile trade-off for more shulker shells

Shulker Projectiles are Ender Pollen. They don't walk anywhere and are firmly planted until they teleport. In conclusion, Shulkers are very strange plants. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

When moving mobs through boats on land, I just pull it with a leash and place water and yank it up if the terrain goes up. Edit: It also allows hauling of 2 shulkers at once

better tip for getting shulkers into the the overworld! spam the area around the portal with redstone dust, thus the shulker has to go into the portal once you break the boat/minecart. I learned this trick from RaysWorks :)

1.14 has already made Diamond gear and tools renewable. Also mending is a thing since 1.9, so diamonds are useless anyway at one point. They could literally remove diamond ore and it would still be possible to get full diamond by many ways. Villager Trades, End City loot, Diamonds as a loot chest spawn and so on.

@@the4spaceconstantstetraqua886 There are many things that aren't renewable. Everything you can't make a farm out, and therefore is limited is considered not renewable, thinks like ancient debries/netherite or the elytra. But there are many more things you can't farm.

I saw a farm that was thought up by the scicraft team using a single shulker (the fewer shulkers around the higher % and they can be tricked to hit themselves, so 100% if you can time everything right) using a snowman to get the thing to fire...but as with many things scicraft I'm not sure how to pull half of it off. With you showing how to move them via minecarts, however...I still think I'm going to wait until closer to release, no telling what they will change over the next few months and may make it easier to farm as they get more feedback. But still very interesting thank you for this never knew they'd go into boats and carts either. =)

By using boats you can use a single water bucket to travel across a flat path, but you have to pick it up quickly also you can go up blocks by going up against a corner with the water on the stair above you (it isnt actually a stair but I mean the terrain)

@@michac.8283 I am emotionally disturbed by the view of his lack of this perticular knowledge, which is the ability to place Shulkers into Boats and Minecart, according to the fact that this isn't anything new and while not popular, neither rumorous. I have always assumed he was all about knowing everything about the Game, even how things works within the code. I assumed he knew everything even the darkest secrets. The whole process of bringing a Shulker to the Overworld is quite horrendous, depending on your seed, and while it's a fact, it isn't impossible.

11:28 Having this in mind, build a 17 blocks tall pilar right in the center of the end portal, out the shulker right there and Break the boat or the minecart. The shulker will teleport for one of the pillar sides(if you're unlucky maybe in the top), then just push him down with pistons, then boom Now you have a shulker in overworld and you just need to search for him. Good luck farming it in 1.17

To get them thru da portal u could put buttons or half slabs on all the blocks except 1 downwards facing side above the portal so it has to teleport above the portal, then when it expands it's hitbox will collide with the portal and it will go thru

With the whole transport thing, here's a really cool trick. You can put boats in minecarts. So, you could put a shulker in a boat, and put the boat in the cart. By doing this, you don't even need to power the rails. It just goes on its own.

you can cover al the space around the endportal with redstone or torches for example it can't go anywhere exept into the portal. That way you can get the shulker into the overworld

Hey wattles it is possible to move shulkers to the overworld. Just block spawns in an area around the end portal and brake the boat. Then they should get inside the portal and end up in the world spawn in the overworld

If you need to get shulker to the overworld you must sorund the bedrock portal with preasure plates (probablly like 17X17 area around the portal) cause they can't teleport on the preasure plates, so then just get them to the portal in the boat or minecrat and brake it. Then they won't have enywhere to teleport and they will teleport in portal.

I think part of the reason they were taking damage so much was the shield. Bullets that didn't hit them (and those that did) were bouncing of the shield and hoing back to hit them. Since they were then coming from the shield that would then count as player damage (like with arrows and skeletons) which means that damage would have 0% chance of producing a new shulker. Therefore they were taking more hits that couldn't produce a new one and they were dying before they got a hit that could (or at least a lucky one, I don't the actual percentage). It might help to set up a place where they can hit eachother but won't hit you. Maybe some kind of barrier?

Use Redstone dust near end portal to restict the teleportation of shulker, just leave one space under bedrock piller to force shulker to teleport there , use a piston and push shulker to inside portal it will work

you can place blocks over the end portal with a one block gap in between and force the shulker to teleport onto the bottom side of those blocks, then when it opens, it will automatically go through the portal.

Walls and slabs will be the primary building blocks for a shulker farm box. Fill the box with a couple of solid blocks that they can attach to.

Few ideas: hit the shulkers with splash potions of healing to offset the damage use arrow dispensers pointed at every surface the new shulkers can spawn on water floor should be a collection funnel together, it could be a useful, AFKable farm.

Try to build a wall all around them 17 thick on all sides, with no water. Basically a box. Fill the box will places for the skulker boxes to teleport onto, and to spawn onto.

Hey Wattles, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but shulkers teleport upto a certain distance, but only to spots they can attach to (ie spawnable for a shulker). So.... if you spawn proof the area around the gate.... ;-)

I brought a shulker to the overworld last night. To get the shulker out you have to simply break the boat while its inside the portal. The inly thing to note is it will spawn at the world spawn so you better have some method of traveling when you're there. Also water buckets make climbing up and moving fast easy with boats.

I think a teleportation try is either =true or =false depending on if the already calculated destination is clear to land on or not. You'd have to be 17*17 lucky for a Chulker teleportation to end up on the only available block. I checked it out and since shulkers won't teleport when their destination is uninhabitable, you can surround the portal with water and push the shulker through with a piston. Btw even if Shulkers destroy string when teleporting to a block with string on it, when shulker's rise they don't break thread. So we can use shulkers+tripwire as a random tick generator 😃

If you have a water bucket, you can place it right in front of the boat to propel it forward, and you can place it on hills to move up

You have to block all teleport locations with non-spawnable blocks like buttons or something except for one on the bedrock pillar in the middle, then push the Shulker through with a Piston.

Hey wattles, I just wanted to let you know that you can use a piston to push a shulker through the portal. You spawnproof the area around the return portal, except for the blocks that form the tower part of it. Then, you push the shulker through the portal using the piston and it will go to world spawn. And I think you need to be 23 blocks away from an area for it to spawn. I believe standard spawning rules still apply, but I don't know for sure.

use water, leads and boats to travel shulkers.. so basically, this can be used for other stuff too, and with this trick you can bring 2 at a time, best for carrying villagers and shulkers. 1) you put the thing(s) u want to carry in a boat 2) attach a lead onto the boat 3) keep walking while placing water under the boat so it moves faster 4) enjoy! 😉

Pixilriffs made a video on teleporting Shulker Boxes to the overworld when he was doing the "How did we get here achievement". Cover all spawnable areas in a 17X17 block with redstone or torches (including the pillar in the middle). You should try getting that achievement once season 3 is over. It's a monster.

You can stop the shulkers from teleporting near the end portal by placing red stone or any other blocks whilch shulkers cannot teleport to around the portal

You need to put slabs at an 8 block radius around the portal to make sure the shulker teleports right above the portal, you also need pistons with slabs on top above the portal to push the shulker into the portal

Very interesting farm wattles. I have an idea. Pick a tower room in end city. Fill all blocks around that tower in 17*17*17 radius, so they can move around in a large area. AFK spot for a player in it with some water in that spot, so shulker dont teleport to afk spot. Something like that?? 🤔🤔🤞

hey wattles u can actually make a shulker go inside the portal, just cover 17x17 area around the portal with red stone and break the boat, the shulker will then stick to the piller of the portal. Then u push it with a piston. shulker will spawn at the world spawn.

Make all of the blocks near the end portal as non-spannable except the sides at the top before taking them out of the boat, then use a piston to push the shulker through the portal.

Instead of digging out the End city and the ground underneath you could simply put the shulkers in a minecart and send them up a rail ramp above the end. Once they are 8+ blocks up and away from the End city you can build your farm with no blocks around for them to teleport to. Or simply minecart them away from the End city, up one block then dump water around them.

Hey man I found a way to get shulkers to the overworld. Step 1- Get them to the center island using boats and minecarts. Step 2 - Keep them 1 block away from the center island andthen break the boat. Step 3- It should sit next to the portal. Step 4- Push it in using a piston and jump in yourself. Step 5 -The shulker should be at spawn or 0,0.

Have you tried blocking all the blocks the shulker can jump to with slabs and seeing if that forces it to jump into the portal as its the only place it can go?

to get the shulkers back to the overworld i believe u have to spawn proof a certain range around the main portal so they are forced to teleport into the portal.

Put a whole lot of redstone around the end portal... and button on the pilar.(basically block all blocks in can tp to) Then break it will tp to overworld

Maybe if u move the shulker close to the portal, then block all the spaces where the shulker can teleport and u force it to teleport on the main column of the portal, then u can push it down to the overworld with pistons?

Ya to get something out of the end to the overworld you need to go threw the nether. The chance is just really low. I think if I remember it's like a 5% chance with 2 withing x amount of room. To have a 100% you need 1 shulker. Personally I think how it should work is every time the bullet hits a block it has a chance to plant an egg like with turtles that grow. That means not only do you have to wait for this end game item farm it also makes it less disturbing at the thought of you are getting shot with something that makes shulkers preduce kids.

sounds like pistons might be the answer to getting them thru the portal? if not, im thinking that a fully enclosed box with no water under it might be better
