Brilliant information, my engine wasn’t going forward, just into neutral and reverse, took the gearbox apart n fixed what I thought was the problem but after assembling it back it now goes into neutral and forward but not reverse, I’m starting to think it may be something todo with the shift shaft?

it probably has to do with the shift shaft, but check that the routing of the shift cables is correct and without sharp bends

Hey great video and very informative as always! I a quick question, my outboard when going into reverse won’t click in as usual so the RPM increases as I put back the throttle and then she clicks into reverse at high RPM. Have you any experience or solution with this problem? Iv only had the boat on the water two days and my heart is broken 😅🫣

Is there any brass or copper used in this lower unit? Just wondering because i want to use gl 5 gear oil in my yamaha but in calls for gl4 gear oil

how do we install shift cam back into gear?

I have a 115ETLJ and in the rear I have a nipple 6E5-45378-00-00 with a hose 90445-07MF2-00 connected to it and is closest to the gear shaft. When I was changing the Impeller I had to disconnect this hose when pulling out the lower unit and was wondering what this hose connection was for.

My Yamaha 2 stroke makes noise going into reverse like grinding I heard that’s normal is that true?

It is very likely that you have a bad tooth in a crown, the noise when entering the gear is normal, but it should not sound when it is in operation, take a look, before the damage is greater kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ec6Snslzv5_Lm30.html

It’s only when I shift it into reverse that is normal?

@@rogermuir5609 Yes if your Idle rpm is set a little high or air temp is cooler it will runs a bit faster and will grind when shifted into gear. Try lowering the idle screw on your carb.
