Yeah. Watch something someone else filmed so this film will make sense, cuz this film can’t stand on its own. And, what’s worse - none of the dozens of names dropped in this film had any impact on the story. This was the worst example of storytelling I’ve ever seen in a movie.

@@AdmoreMethod100% agreed - the movie is a set of “flashbacks” with most of these pieces are there without concrete reference to the story itself, but just to be there autonomously probably as a historical fact. The other disappointment is purely subjective was that the movie doesnt really show any deeper technical side of any bomb development or invention… but its me being a nerd haha

I have had a unique experience. I saw it in 70mm in Lincoln Center and the machine broke almost exactly half way through and they showed the rest in laser and 70mm is comically better. Objectively. In short, if it is in 70mm under 2 hours away, go. It is absolutely stunning and an incredible experience. The difference is indescribable. That being said, if you can find an IMAX theater spend the extra money and go. The sound may be more important than the clarity and aspect ratio. IMAX calibrates all their theaters and the impact of the sound (all of it) in this movie transforms it to an incredibly visceral experience. Just spectacular. I also saw it in a regular theater and it feels like an entirely different movie. Nolan extracts every ounce of benefit one can get from the IMAX experience.

This was my first IMAX movie. I don't think it was regular IMAX 70MM as that one is in Phoenix I think, and I live in Tucson. But it was a packed house, the screen is HUGE which is cool, and it just felt like how movies should BE. An EVENT. Nolan movies feel like an event. Something I feel like was lost thanks to the pandemic. We need to find that spark again. We need and deserve to have stacked summers again. We deserve to go to movies to escape reality, while also being reminded of it. We deserve QUALITY not just quantity.

We watched it on an onyx screen (funny enough it appears to be the world's first to be installed back in 2018 according to a news article I just found). What a lot of channels telling people that they MUST watch this in IMAX are missing is that...its not affordable for a great number of those people. In the UK if a couple living just outside of london go see it at thd BFI IMAX, thats £50 for two tickets in addition to say £15 to £20 train ticket in addition to getting snacks and food, we're talking about a £100 day or more. I dont think film lovers should be made to feel shitty because they cant afford to spend that. Perhaps these videos should be more technical differences than telling ppl they must watch it on 70mm

What about if I just watched it at home on a pirated website where someone recorded the theatre screen on a 1980P phone camera?

Thanks for the reminder! The Dallas 70mm IMAX just added additional shows. I finally got my tickets. Maybe more will go on sale at other locations as well?

Saw it 70mm and thankfully it was working well. I have never seen such crisp colors and Audio. Little bummed the movie screen was regular sized, but still. Incredible film

Only 2 imax theaters in sweden, closest one 3 hours away, no 70mm. Hurts the experience a bit knowing that you are experiencing less than you could have.

I'm lucky enough to be a city bus ride away from the BFI IMAX in London (a very distinctive round building in the centre of a roundabout by Waterloo Station). Watched it in 70mm IMAX, definitely worth the experience even if I didn't get the best seat!

Seeing this in a couple weeks in Grand Rapids Michigan. They had an unfortunate issue where their 70mm broke, but they’ve managed to get the portion fixed and are going to be showing it again in 70mm for a couple extra weeks. Beyond excited. I thought I wouldn’t get the chance because everything was selling out for the 70mm IMAX. Is it weird that I think about it every single day? This has also got my KZfaq algorithms recommending me film photography videos and now I’m really interested in it, so shoutout to Chris Nolan for being a gateway drug to film photography

You're right there's nothing like seeing a really good film story on actual film stock wether it's 70mm 35mm or the alternate 70mm IMAX. And let's hop this enspires a whole new generation of projectionists to the film.industry and theatre's

I loved this movie. Watched it in 70mm a few days ago and really enjoyed it. It’s been a while that ive been to a theatre and a film got a standing ovation. Unfortunately I had to bolt to the restroom as soon as the movie ended as I was holding my pee for an hour but I really wish I was there participating in that clap session

Seeing this at Discovery Place in NC this weekend. It uses IMAX Laser now, they got rid of the 1570 system last year, hope it's a good experience. Anyone else seen this in a dome style IMAX theater?

I saw it at the Grand Canyon IMAX, and it looked incredible. No flaws, no notes. I’ll try to check it out on 70mm, but it’s not going to look as good as the laser.

I did 35mm projection 2002-2004, still the job I look back on most fondly and I have arguably done way cooler stuff since. From the cans to the platter, I loved assembling the film and taking care of it. I remember the LOTR 3 ROTK almost didn't fit on the projector the film was so long...

Some fuzzy math is needed to arrive at the "18K Resolution" number. When digital photography was first coming up to professional grade there were lots of discussions about comparing "resolution" between different film formats and digital ones, but most of these remained inconclusive, as the word "resolution" simply does not have the same meaning in digital vs analog imaging and there is no agreed upon way to draw these comparisons. One more thing - no film (or anything else) was "invented" to make this movie. Kodak double-x 5222 is a standard black-and-white negative stock that has been around for some years now. Yes, 65mm is a special order, but these days 65mm is a special order for any film stock. Kodak is perfectly set up and prepared to handle these special orders. I would be willing to believe this is the first time they've had an order for 65mm in this black-and-white stock, but that's not the same as saying the had to "invent" it.

Why is this the only movie I’ve seen where people actually care enough to talk about what screen size you watch it in? And if watching in imax makes it so that you get to see more why aren’t all movies shot for imax? Like wouldn’t u want the audience to see everything you recorded?
