Paul Gleeson is a performance coach and public speaker. Paul works with individuals, corporate teams and professional sportspeople. The focus of his work with individuals and corporate teams is to enable more engagement and perform at a high level in work and in life. Paul’s work with professional sportspeople is focused on personal development away from their sport and transitioning successfully into life after full time competition as a player / athlete.
Prior to moving into coaching, Paul spent over 12 years working in the wealth management industry as a tax consultant and financial adviser. As an adventurer Paul has completed some interesting expeditions including cycling 5,000km coast to coast across Australia, rowing across the Atlantic Ocean and in the summer of 2013 rowing 1,900km through the Canadian Arctic. Together with his rowing partner Tori Holmes, Paul co authored a book called “Crossing the Swell” about their Atlantic Experience which was published in Ireland in 2006 and Canada in 2009. Paul has contributed articles for newspapers in both of these countries on financial and performance related topics. Paul’s performance coaching practice, Turas Consulting International Ltd has clients in both Canada & Ireland. See www.turasconsutling.com for more information.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Paul, I loved your story. I equate it to parenthood, my son has autism and epilepsy. If parenthood isn't hard enough, any childhood diagnosis can throw a mom across the boat, break her ribs, and leave her without breath and words. I had to figure out how to accept, navigate new waters and make changes to my environment to survive and that's what my son does every moment of every day. Find ways to block out environmental wind, waves, swells, and stay in control to manage his and others'behavior. Thank you for sharing and Happy Easter!

looking to my left then to my right no one in sight just riding this wave, trying not to drown nor cave. Chaotic energy feels like a heat wave. A positive mindset of what a great day feeds her soul since no one wants to hear what she has to say. 365, I am just trying to stay alive. Imagination pairs with the reality of life as she strives in the night, only with the stars and moonlight above dreaming of the Milkyway, oh the waves. Time doesn't wait sister, she thinks to herself not even for the waves. please don't leave me behind the mean ungrateful begged, oh as she waves, she waves, she waves. She is tired of riding this wave. 7 min creative Tedx Talks challenge to cope with life challenges in a healthy way.

This is very very TRUE, Ext environment MORE important that so called INT environment as former usually moulds later seldom other way round. That's why I'm coming suffering moving out Toxic environment of Singapore society, living, env. Yes, that little affluent regional bastion of wealth,..or shd I say "wealth" - coz many I know (including myself), esp if you're 'misfit' Eurasian minority like me, life and living here can be downright impoverishing, whether you have the mileage or not. Spare you detail here. Woa, that's a feat most pp can only dream of -rowing pass Atlantic. But from that, you gleaned Supreme Truth that mostly PC pp/so called psy/soc experts are always hard-pressed to admit - coz no no, u shd h never blame things situations the Env open around you for anything as you/your response what matters. Yes I'm small sense, but Bullocks greater scheme of things -Yr ENV IS yr DESTINY. thank you for shining light on TRUTH that PC people always fight shy off. Not right/good to blame locality, township or even country (as in my case) for your own impoverishness (materially / spiritually) coz u might make that place town or country 'LOOK bad's Aah Ah, Not suppose to to that, no social credits for you.

Aragon Star its not like that. Nature and nurture are both important. Some people are born in the worst environments and rise and some in the best environments and drown
