There will be no magic bullet to solving unemployment in Africa without addressing the issue of family planning! You cannot create jobs for people you dont know, the surging population is a ticking time bomb! Addressing this issue together with other strategies would impact unemployment in African countries greatly, if governments start educating people now! China has created lots and lots of jobs but lots of Chinese people still unemployed and poor, that says a lot! Is it bad politics, is it the population or economy in China that causes unemployment? In most African countries we know its all of those things above! Poor economies, lack of planning, big families etc etc!

Ethiopians rarly head abroad to work especially the Educated class so good luck with that

@@shebaqueen4948 Many Ethiopians work overseas. In fact more than 2.5 million Ethiopians love outside Ethiopia including over 400,000 in the United States and more that 100,000 in Israel. Kenya is just next door so there shouldn't be a problem.

Population stats totally changes your narrative. Ethiopia has the second highest population in Africa after Nigeria. So that 25% unemployment rate in Ethiopia has implications of much higher numbers than you would find in SA.

Abubakar Nigerian go watch a documentary series called men who built America they were all business men not the government. Taxes are high in Africa because the countries need to prove that they can pay back the loans from IMF and World Bank and the loans are embezzled by the politicians and their cronies, it’s a vicious cycle but aid money can be used for good examples are Singapore and South Korea even Japan.

Yep. Tried several businesses since leaving campus. Doesn't work that way, even though it pretty easy to start a business. Capital is especially inaccessible without a rich background.

I agree with the job creation part but i disagree with the idea of a law to allow mass foreign immigration to ethiopia. Your afrocentric idea of assimilating afro-americans/carribeans into ethiopian society because their ancestors at one point had connections to the African continent doesn't make sense. Those group of people don't have ancestral connections to the horn of africa, yet alone Ethiopia. Their ancestral origins are from West Africa. Plus they're still a westerner. Ethiopia is a conservative and homogeneous country and majority of us prefer things to remain that way. As any other foreigner who wants to emigrate to ethiopia, they are welcomed to do so individually. However, government sponsored mass immigration on the basis you implied isn't happening as it brings no substantial benefits to Ethiopia. As a nationalist, i don't favour the idea of seeing Ethiopia become a melting pot like the west by allowing westerners with cultures that don't align with ours to dilute our unique heritage and culture. We would like to preserve these things as it's our identity. Bringing in people like how you suggested will be problematic within our society. They can come as individuals but i don't support by large idea. The Ethiopian government focus is to serve its Ethiopian people and the problem that affects us each and every day.

@@DarthNero I appreciate your reply but respectfully disagree. Ethiopia isn’t homogenous at all and it’s obvious by how the Woyane used our diversity to divide and rule. The closed off mentality is also a factor in that we could stand to gain by learning from other Africans and working with them. A great example I can draw from in America is how African Americans sometimes call out Ethiopians for having White depictions of Jesus/Mary which to them is jarring but to an Ethiopian seems like nothing. It speaks to a lack of awareness of mental forms of colonization which African descendants in the Diaspora understand very well. Moreover, you can’t aspire to a more Western living standard and then disagree with creating a law of return for African descendants. Plus if we’re honest, Addis is where the majority of Diasporans would be if they are more Westernized but there are many Diasporans that are more African centered and are much more culturally open including language wise so the supposed clash wouldn’t really be the case given that they are much closer to us culturally than the mass groups or Chinese in the country. But again, the standoffishness makes it hard for there to be the same situation we see in places like Ghana, Senegal, and even Kenya in some small cases. Ethiopia as a whole is a symbol of Pan Africanism and as such it can tap into a large reservoir of talent to offset brain drain in the country as well as bringing in other people besides Diasporan Ethiopians that can provide job creation and added expertise. We shouldn’t deny our very real position within the Black world. Black people in other parts of the world freed themselves from enslavement partly because our name was in the Bible and our very existence proved that Black people are not inferior. Menelik especially tried to bring in African Americans to help develop the country post-Adwa but it didn’t go over well with the white diplomats we had to deal with back in those days for obvious reasons. And even then, there has been a tradition of Diasporans coming to Ethiopia and the vast majority have provided much needed things like schools, businesses, and of course, pilot training lol. I think where we diverge is in that you’re a nationalist and I’m more of a “civilizationist” if you will. I think our current nationalism is a bit shallow and doesn’t incorporate the whole of our history and how it is inextricably linked to the rest of Africa. For most Ethiopians their history starts at Axum, for me it starts at the very beginning of modern human history itself since we’re their source. We had pharaohs before Queen of Sheba even existed. Our legacy is deep. But I’ll be honest, it is far more likely that your model will prevail for now but just know that outside of Ethiopia there is a growing group of Diasporans that are learning about Ethiopia and WANT to go to Ethiopia and help and believe in the people and culture. To me, people like that are far more useful than some of the poisoned minds terrorizing everyone that just so happen to be Ethiopian.
