I can tell you exactly where and when I first heard this...June 22, 1985 on the highway from Fort Lewis to Seattle. I was 22 and an ROTC cadet undergoing training. We were given a 36 hour pass so a few new friends and I rented a car and headed to Seattle. It was an extremely challenging time so I fell asleep as soon as I got in the car but somewhere halfway I woke up to my classmate Gary Burris driving with only the two of us awake. It was a clear, sunny, beautiful day...and this song came on the radio. That is a cherished memory I never will lose.

Though I am just 12 1/2, I know this song and love it, followed by a few MJ songs. There is a sitcom I hope to get out called Shimone and Annie, which has this song as one of their various megamix hits. I heard this song on my back porch swing about six or seven months ago and I wanted to know what it was called. I thought to myself, “This sounds somewhat familiar and DEFINITELY 80s.” I looked it up on my radio station site and the reason why I thought it was familiar was because it sounded very much like it played in the ORIGINAL scene of the community center in that TV show. I don’t know if it really was, but the more I listened to it I think it was. It is definitely in the Shimone and Annie megamix which is one of the many reasons why I love it!

Idk what I wouldn't give to be back to the place that the feelings I get from this puts me. It's someplace, some time. Nothing too specific, just a mood, a deep feeling inside. That's why I listen to old music I grew up with. The nostalgia is very strong. Scents do that too. It's like trying to capture a moment in time that's a bubble, but the bubble floats away or pops. Howard Jones could play the piano, the keyboards, the flute, the electric drums, the electric guitar, write music, sing and produce it, this guy is a genius. Can any musician do this today? Definitely not. Very 80's synth song. A master song, with a master title from a master musician. Love the brass section in this. The message in this song is as relevant today as it was back in 1985.

I know you're stuck in your own little "musicians were more talented in the 80s" world but their are way more artists nowadays that can do all of these. Literally one search away. I mean unless you're entitled to your opinion
@michealkelliher84283 жыл бұрын
@@localterrorist3155 Really? Where's the proof of that? Why is mainstream music so shit! today so compared to the 80's? Boy bands, rap, r n'b, none of those fill the Top 40 in any country, they cannot all play multiple instruments, so that's not my opinion, that's an actual fact. So your hypothesis is redundant im afraid. More people would agree with my initial statement.
@localterrorist31553 жыл бұрын
@@michealkelliher8428 you're just looking at the "mainstream" of things... go look up Jack stsuber, look mum no computer, clario, there are literally so many artists that know how to do so much.
