As horrible as they were, they did not find lethal doses of cocaine and heroin in Chris's body. What made them fatal were the major blockages in his coronary arteries. I think 70 and 90 % and his weight getting up to 296 pounds. I'm sure the strain of being up for 4 days didn't help either.

Such a horrific tragedy to see an amazingly gifted actor and comedian die such at such a young age from such sad circumstances. He was a genuine sweet guy who always cared for those around him. He was a great legend and an icon.

Listening to this for like the 5th time today honestly brought tears to my eyes. Truth be told, Farley was my all time favorite comedian. Norm Macdonald was my second. Now God has taken them both. Hearing Norm talk about Farley and how wonderful he was hit me really deep. I dunno why. It was nice seeing Norm get the respect he deserved these last couple of years , but I wish people understood just how funny Norm was while he was alive. Nobody will EVER match these two guys. Thank you both for all the laughs. RIP

Farley was great, one of the all time best. But Norm was seriously underrated. A guy that could make you laugh just by using different voice tones. No characters or physical comedy, just what he said and how he said it. Like the scene in, Dirty Work, I think it was. When the guys "abused" him in prison, and he didn't act upset at all, just disappointed in the guys that did it, and kept saying, "Ridiculous, just ridiculous."

I was so lucky that in my high school years I grew up watching SNL during 90-93 era. I first noticed Chris as a chipendale dancer with Patrick Swayze and dying of laughter with Chris strutting his hips in the routine. Sad that on the outside he was hilarious but a tortured soul on the inside. Also sad that Swayze & Jan Hooks, who was also in the sketch, are gone too.

His weight and majorly blocked coronary arteries were significant contributing factors to his death. The cocaine and heroin were not found to be lethal doses. I'm sure that the strain of being up for 4 days and putting his body through hell didn't help. Chris wanted to be sober more than anything. He tried so hard and had heroic sober periods most notably the 3 year one during which Tommy Boy and Black Sheep were made. He treated getting sober like a committed athlete, that he had been, according to his brother Tom. He even enlisted the clergy at church to help him. One counselor said that Chris had the most severely addicted personality that he had ever seen in his 35 year career. He fought alcohol, food, cocaine and heroin addictions simultaneously. Can you imagine ?

I remember one Farley appearance on Letterman. Chris goes on and he's jumping about flinging around going absolutely wild from moment one and Dave is laughing so hard. And then Farley says something like 'the guys backstage said you like the physical stuff' So he did the physical comedy bit just to make Dave, specifically Dave, laugh. And that plays in with Norm saying that he found a way to be funny to anybody.

Brent Monkhouse Makes sense though. Trying to get friends and strangers to laugh is also an also an attempt to keep them close so they do not stray their attention elsewhere. Also, comedians have to have somewhat an outsider's perspective because good laughs don't usually originate from a history of fitting in and accepting things as they are.
