How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a KZfaq channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

Wow the technology is just insane these days. I can always think back to how many years we'd have a little bit of weed pressure but it would be off towards the center of the field and it just wasn't worth running over a ton of corn to go after it. The concept of flying a drone in and tackling it is really something. Very cool man

I wish there was someone around here with one of these things. In the ongoing war against invasive plants like kudzu, privet, honeysuckle, and bamboo, being able to apply an herbicide at the top where the leaves are.... well, that'd be a game-changer! Tens of thousands of acres of land are not only lost, but thousands more are devalued because they're so close to thickets of invasives. Something like this drone would be a godsend, helping to halt the growth long enough for native plants to get established.... and work crews to clear the area. Right now, as fast as you can clear the brush, it just grows right back. It'd be a million-dollar business opportunity for someone who can get ahold of the developers and government agencies who handle the purse strings!

This is just the beginning of the automation of farming. Sometime in future a farmer will tell his robot combine harvester, that the crop needs to be gathered in. Or tell his robot tractor that fields a,b,c needs to be plowed reddy fort the robot seed sower. Or send out a drone to inspect his/her crops and see if they need any spraying or what needs to be treated or harvested because they have reached optimum maturity. And he/her haven't moved from his house ones apart from talking to his machines to do the work Orsome.

What makes you think that future farming will even need soil? Check out vertical farming and aeroponics- chemical free, minimal water use, maximized nutrient intake, harvested using trickled down automated tech from the auto industry, much closer to urban centers to cut down transportation cost and not beholden to weather or seasonal patterns; safe and fresh food at affordable prices.

@@Finnv893 Absolutely brilliant technology that's going to be so great in supply of the Necessitys of life. More output per square metre than the normal farm. Just hope this technology spreads across the planet so every one benefits and hope it doesn't go into the hands of powerful corporations or financial institutions trying to turn the technology into a cash cow.

Typically $2-4 MORE per acre for a drone. Due to how long it takes to refill and swap batteries. Drone operators are running about $400 per hour and you can cover 30ish acres in that frame. When you have power lines or a hilly field, there's no other aerial solution

Would the Radiate product be more beneficial applied with post herbicide or later with fungicide?
@andytuck13
@andytuck13 Жыл бұрын
Radiate Next helps the plant handle different yield limiting stressors from the environment better. The more plant stress we see, the more response we get from radiate. At time of application we still had 40% of the yield to be determined and it’s been on the dry side, so we expect to see better kernel development by applying radiate at this time. Some farmers make multiple applications…in furrow at planting, again at V4, and then at tassel.

Noticed that air movement from drone. Concerns of over spray of diffent crops or property bondries? Wouldn't flying lower have better success?
@HowFarmsWork
@HowFarmsWork Жыл бұрын
It's many times more accurate than using a conventional plane or chopper. If you're worried about boundaries you can hold it back from the property line. You could fly lower but there's a degree of spread needed to evenly apply.
@andytuck13
@andytuck13 Жыл бұрын
The spray pattern width is proportional to your altitude. Agrispray drones offers training to new pilots to help them be able to determine the correct settings to fly at. As with any application spray droplet movement needs to be monitored and controlled, however with a drone the droplets are being pushed downward into the crop in a method that’s difficult to replicate with other forms of application equipment
