What's the 44 Club you may ask? AFishBicycle I know just the book to help too. The Great International Paper Airplane Book. It’s not as much a how to as some seriously wicked designs you can make. I grew up w this one.

The designs you used might have worked better had you trimmed the wings beforehand as well...For a paper airplane, that usually means bending up the back end of the wings ever so slightly. This creates a little bit of aerodynamic moment, forcing the plane to have a positive angle of attack, and then causing a little bit of positive lift. I think you would have had much better luck with your designs had you adjusted the trim and test flown them on the ground beforehand, then brought them to the top of the dam.

The key to a paper airplane that gets a good flat flight path and doesn't just spiral downward is the tail. Cut the back of the body section with a pair of scissors, from the bottom all the way up to the fold where the body becomes the wing, then flip the section you've cut inside-out so it's raised above the wings. Your plane now has a tail and will fly much more stably.

My GOD, those planes were more like Lawn Darts! I can make a plane that not only will it fly way past the tree line but onto the next valley in the back ground. I say if I make 5 identical planes one or two will easily catch a thermal and simply go straight up until they disappear. Back in the 70s I perfected the design and to this day I've yet to see it beat.

I love a challenge, so as soon as the summer season in my bike shop slows down I will do just that, make and film my paper airplanes as they fly away from the level ground. And if I have the time I will try to launch a couple from a tall building and I can assure you, they will fly up until they disapear from eye sight. Sincerely Dan

The foam planes will work if you put a small weight in the tip of the plane.such as a lead weight or a pencil in the end of it.the weight will make it fly a mile

@@henryegan7953 Nose. Usually you weight the nose. What you REALLY need to do is find the center of gravity of the plane, it SHOULD start out on the wing spar (the rod that stiffens the wings) if it doesn't have a spar, a good rule of thumb is the center of the wings Take two pencils a few inches apart and stick them in the ground, erasers up. Now, set the plane on the erasers on the wings and adjust the plane on the sticks until it sits dead nuts level. This is the as built center of gravity (CG) of the plane. Mark it with a dry erase marker on the fuselage. If the CG is in the aft portion of the wings the plane is tail heavy, a tail heavy plane will stall, and fall out of the sky. If the CG is forward of the wings, it's probably too nose heavy. It'll yard dart And fall out of the sky. Add weight to one end or the other till the CG is about 1" forward of the wing centerline. This will give the plane a good angle of attack so it can penetrate the air and get a little speed and allow the wing airfoil to provide lift. Once you have the CG dead on where it needs to be. mark it with a permanent marker and erase the test marking. Now, every time you fly it, you can balance the plane on the marked CG to confirm it's ready to go, and none of the added weight is missing. It'll fly like a SOB. Be careful, From a tall structure like that dam... it'll fly so far you'll lose it

Back in the 1980s, we were at a bar celebrating a big meeting of the YF-22 contractor and USAF contingent. They happened to have a paper airplane contest, they never saw so many exotic paper airplanes. Many could have won records for flight. A fun night had by all.

You learn something new every day. Huh. My problem isn’t usually being too aggressive; I wasn’t expecting that to be the problem! Now I have half a chance! Now that I’m on a second story I can try some shenanigans in the pursuit of bettering myself. 😊

@JordanTOASTYif you did bend the wings enough to pull it out of a dive you would get some lift , then after a slight rise it would cause the plane to lose momentum and then stall going back into a dive which would defeat the purpose of doing it , it would make more sense to adjust the wings for an even glide and to throw the plane at a horizontal or slightly upward angle rather than throwing it into a dive in the first place

Si hubieran usado 2 neuronas, se hubieran dado cuenta que la trayectoria del viento, y que la forma de la represa no ayudaba en nada. You twist the wings and they'll stay Twisted in the correct orientation to fly straight the foam is formable ... and then you have to add some pennies to the tale because they're all nose-heavy
