Thank you for the video! You make that look so easy! I enjoy painting but not sure I can tackle this big of a project. Especially because of the height of my house in back. If it weren’t for that, I’d get at it ASAP! What do you feel is the best paint for this? I live in Tennessee in case you do see this question and I assume the weather makes a difference in paint choose possibly?
@howtopaintinfo3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what paint you have there but a 100% acrylic paint works well as it will expand and contract depending on weather conditions. Make sure its an exterior paint. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

Great video. Question I have is what paint is that you are using? Thank you for your response
@howtopaintinfo10 жыл бұрын
When painting exteriors I use water based paints as they expand and contract with the changing weather conditions. The paint I'm using here is Dulux Weathershield Low Sheen Acrylic.

always good to see how other painters do there work ,yes like you I agree that using a good quality brush with good skills is just as quick I have seen painters spraying two or three doors by the time they have to set up then clean every thing I have more doors done clean up and gone home . Keep up the great work ....

Yes, spray painting is good but there are times when brushing and rolling is better and quicker.

Looks good friend, is it good to use 1/4" or 1/2" nap paint roller on the boards or just use a good brush like you are using?
@howtopaintinfo Жыл бұрын
Really depends on if you are happy with a roller finish, if you are going to use a roller than a 1/4 nap should be fine to use. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

Great video as always! One thing though, wouldn't it be easier to spray it? Mask off the top and some of the underside after spray it all?
@howtopaintinfo10 жыл бұрын
I do know of some painters that spray everything, now I'm a tradesman and was brought up using a brush and roller and used my first spray gun at the age of 16. If you have good brushing skills then it does not take long to paint a fascia with very little clean up when done. Now the issues with spraying are; the time it takes to get spray gun ready and to clean after, masking off area's then removing masking tape and being mindful of over spray. Also when using a brush you can fill any small splits or cracks in the timber with paint something spraying won't do. Brushing will also give you better adhesion as you are working the paint in to the surface.

howtopaintinfo also I use 60 year caulking to work into the older wood cracks and voids Then I sand smooth and paint over it. Gives a very smooth surface to paint and also helps the wood last a long long time.

How do you prep the metal fascia before you paint? My house is 11 years old and the bad winds has ripped the paint off so I have big patches of silver. I'm going to be fixing this myself if I can get the proper help
@howtopaintinfo3 жыл бұрын
You will need to scrape off the loose bits then give the edges a sand so they are smoothed out then there is no need to fill. you might need to use a galvanized iron primer on the bare areas. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

How do you prep brand new fascia boards?
@howtopaintinfo10 ай бұрын
If they are new timber, just dust off and prime then sand, followed my top coats, if they are pre-primed you need to sand first then undercoat or apply top coats depending on how good they have been primed. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

@@ryanhoward2199 Agreed. Or just use straight paint and move quickly, putting it on thick and laying it off. There's more than one way to get it done. Brushing is fine too, but using a whizzie looks better in my opinion.

Agreed. But you have to know how to use it well. If done right, it'll look sprayed without all the ugly brush marks. And always roll/brush into your paint, not out of it like this guy did.
