I think its really not an issue to do this in Southeast Asian countries where hoyas are originally from. Like here in the Philippines, the conditions are perfect for them to just keep on growing so pruning them can be helpful. Awesome vids Sean, keep 'em coming. I hope to be able to visit Jakarta again soon especially now that more I'm into plants now due to the pandemic, and I see a lot of rare, exotic plants in the trade here came from Indonesia, so it would be interesting to see them at their origin.

I like my hoya hanging so they drape🤗. Yes so true the longer the tendrils more chances of getting peduncles. Unless you got a matured cuttings, it could flower sooner😁. Another great video👍

My hoya likes to really feel around. Every few hours I see the tendril in a completely new place. Somehow it managed to reach up with one of it's two runners over a foot straight up and when it touched the pothos pot it decided that was what it wanted to violate. It's in a 4 inch pot with two runners both over a foot, one nearly two feet. hopefully it decides to bloom

Pruning hoya makes bushier plants, creating more branches also means more tendrils to get more peduncle in the future !

That is funny that you had to clarify yourself. I personally don't like the look of empty tendrils.

Hi Sean, I have a hoya kerrii with one long tendril and yes, I knocked baby leaves off of it, thinking ‘Oops, now I will have a long tendril with just one leaf. BUT.... to my surprise, on the exact two places I knocked leaves off two new sets of leaves are growing with new tendrils forming in between. It’s sitting under a grow light since last month, I’m in Amsterdam and thought it would go in hibernation since temperatures dropped. (a picture is on my insta capricorn_tropic)

Where do you cut all the runners? I don't want to just snip them just anywhere, I want to know exactly where so the plant will thicken up. I'll keep a few runners but I don't want a plant with all these long runners hanging there. To me, it's not an attractive plant with all these single long runners hanging down. Do you cut them close to the pot? If you have this 20-inch runner hanging there, do you cut it in half at 10 inches? I want a thick plant at the top of the pot some random different length running hanging down. I want you to take hold of one of the runners and explain what you're doing. We'll cut this one closer to the pot because.....and then explain why you did it that way. Grab another one and maybe say that we'll cut it here, where it's just hanging even with the bottom of the pot because.........and then explain why and what is going to happen where you cut it.
