The original Knave was a kind loving "Mother" on the outside, but a twisted evil witch on the inside. Arlecchino chose to be the opposite. She became cold, menacing, and sinister on the outside, but inside she became a loving and caring "Father"

Definitely upload the genshin story as a playthrough if that is your prefered way to enjoy the story. Hoyoverse really knows how to drive a knife through your heart. "Mother" became so twisted for Arlechino that now that she runs the house of hearth she runs it as a "Father", the "Mother" put on a caring and kind front while hiding her own ugly side while Arlechino runs it as a strict and unfeeling "Father" to hide how much she really cares for the children. I don't think it was hoyoverse's inhouse animation department like with the Starrail animations since it wasn't included in the title card showcasing the company's name in the start.

In south east asia, stepmothers/adoptive mothers being absolute scumbags and evil is a bit of a common trope across TV series and shows involving drama. Probably took the inspiration from Cinderella, but some ancient fables already had this kind of trope well before Disney made it popular around the world.

0:23 hi!! i wanted to correct the proununxe, ok so before that i want to let y'all know that the fatui harbinger'a names are inspired by the commedia dell'arte an Italian play. so the prounance is not "arleccino" but it's like the "k" sound, so like "arlekkino" because in italy qhen ever there is like double c and then an "h" in front of it, the c has more hard sounding.

For the comparison between HSR and Genshin one should keep in mind that HSR's animations are more focused on battles between people that can destroy planets while Genshin's are more about how characters live in the world (Action vs Adventure genre pretty much). An animation on the backstory of a cursed character getting her powers won't be as fluid and pretty as a dragon king fighting himself in his mind or a fight between two legendary sword masters. The other Genshin animations are the promocial videos for Inazuma, Sumeru , and Lantern Rite. There's also the one for XIao and Ayaka. The fan animations they each commission seems to fill in what they lack. HSR has more about backstories and Genshin has a lot of action.

To be fair, Cocolia has always been an adoptive mother of dubious character in all three Honkai games. It's not so much that mothers at cursed. Bronya's biological mother was a sweetheart, choosing to reverse a life saving treatment that would have ended her pregnancy.

honestly no, the Star rail animations have the same fluidity but they are so still and when they aren't you notice the same thing, Dan's dragon flew around him at 10 fps maximum in that animation This Genshin animation had a fight with excellent choreography and the characters moved much more, they perfectly animated the most important fight scene and that's a plus for me

I’ve seen other people react to this and say stuff like, “Wow! That got dark”, meanwhile, Hoyoverse veterans are all, “Yup, that’s Hoyoverse”, I wanted Father prior to this and that was mainly because she uses a scythe like my favorite character from HI3, Rita but after watching this, I decided to build her and so far, that’s going well, I got her and her weapon and at least 2 of her artifacts are pretty good

Arlecchino is by far the least evil harbinger and by extension the saddest. Like shes literally forced into this being told her crimes are "pardoned" but the idea of killing the knave and inheriting the title from a child of the Hearth is now what she has to live with as something she created involuntarily by demolishing that old system. Hoyoverse looked at everyones reaction to her in winter nights lazzo and cooked peak character content

That scene where she promotes to be harbingers shows alot of revelations. 1. She rose to the ranks and got her current position as the 4th Rank. Because Scaramouche, Capitano and Signora are there which also indicates that the Doctor is on the ranks. 2. She is still Young and showed a lot of Potential to rise. Also she might be the hardest Harbinger the traveler will have to face yet.

I'm not hearing people mention this, but Arlecchino and the girl she killed are technically sisters.....so the mention of Yuri in this context is very concerning and disturbing to me. I love these animated shorts, I hope we get more in the future. Also, I love your reactions!

It's not a women thing, it happens to male characters as well. It's just that most people don't care about men and only focus on Waifu. The new cryo wolf guy (I forgot his name) was also raised by very bad step parents whom he sent to the GY and went through hell but nobody talks about it.

It's funny you take Star Rail for example, where we literally have Blade, Dan, Jing yuan, Aventurine, Luchao who all have traumatic past or Gallagher who so far is the bad guy in Penancony . My point is both men and women go through a lot, we just ignore some or the game doesn't focus on them.

Bronya, Asta, Herta, Topaz, Serval, Natasha, Guinafen, Pela, Lynx, Hanya, Fuxuan, Sushang, Black Swan are all strong important and very well respected in-game lore wise and by us the community. So no, if anything 99% of women have it very good in Honkai Star Rail.
