I bought a Powermax this year and love it. I shot and compared a comparable PSE & Bowtech bow and just liked the overall feel of the Hoyt. I bought it primarily to hunt with and to shoot in the back yard. I used to shoot competitively 20 years ago but those days are over with. I thought it was a lot of bow for the price. I did upgrade my sight and stabilizer but that is all I have done besides shoot it. Thanks for a good video and good hunting!

Hi, I bought a powermax with fuse kit this year in May. It was difficult to chose a good bow. In France, I don't find a friend who had this bow. I saw the good testimonial in US archery and i bought it. I don't regret. I think it's very very accurate and pleasant to use. I love it :) Thanks for this video.

Hi Jean-Marc, thank you for the kind words. Just out of curiosity what do you hunt with your bow in France? I really think you will like your boat. Hoyt is a very reputable high-quality manufacturer and I have always been very pleased with the ones I have used. I know there are a lot of good bow manufacturers out there as well but Hoyt is certainly one of the best if not the best.

Hi to answer your question, there are bow hunters, however, this is not the majority. Almost all the bows are US. Bear , Bowtech, Booster, Firefox, Hoyt, Kinetic, Mathews, Mission, Premium, PSE, Booster, Win & Win But "Get serious - Get HOYT" :)

I was in a gun shop a couple months ago buying a handgun, Im lefthanded and someone left a powermax there for collateral and never returned. It had all the kit stuff on it. It doesn't have a scratch on it, but mine is black. For 100 buks I took it home..Im liking it very well.

Hey thanks for that comparison. I bought a Cabela's bow made by Bowtech - I have heard great things about them - after my powermax was stolen (October, last fall). They both shoot really well. Smooth and powerful. I'm no pro either but you don't need a two thousand dollar rig to get an elk at 10 yards. I would never shoot past 30.

Love it for hunting and 3D shoots. Prob shot over 200 arrows thru it and have owed it for only 4months. With noproblems.And killed my first deer with it already this year.And 2 more tags to go.Recomend it

nice video, good shooting looking at this bow I have the charger and love it. just a word of advice if you go to a tubeless peep sight it will make bow more quiet and a little faster due to no tube slapping as you shoot...

Cliff Matherly : interesting. I haven't thought of that. I've never heard that the tube creates any noise, but that being said, I'm not sure I need it and I'd rather not have it all things considered.

@micro-pigoffroadclub8387

C Matherly I can go with quieter but how does it go faster with a tubeless peep? I personally can't stand a peep with a tube but one could stand to reason that having that elasticized tube pulling forward on the string could increase the speed.
@c.a.m.matherly9958
@c.a.m.matherly9958 7 жыл бұрын
you gain speed by having no tube attached to the cable and the tube slaps as you shoot very noticeable out in the woods. the peep sights that have no tube are small profile. the tube will also get worn over time and stretched out, needing replaced where the tubeless ones don't need it. G5 meta peeps are good ones to look at...again it's personal preference but when hunting don't want a fail in the tube in the woods as it has happened..I did pick up a power max and nitrum 30 love the power max.

Just went from a Bowtech Infinite Edge to the Hoyt PowerMax. Night and day. The Infinite Edge is a bow for someone just getting into compound bow shooting whereas the PowerMax is just on another level. Is it the most expensive with latest tech? No. But it's a great solid bow for the money and I'm certain I will kill deer with it this year.

Hey I'm considering buying one next week for preparation for this bow season. My overall question is how did it perform during deer season, and just your overall opinion on it's accuracy and speed? Thanks!
@davidellisoutdoors3247
@davidellisoutdoors3247 7 жыл бұрын
I am very happy with it. Everything performed just as I hoped it would with one minor exception. The bow string shows a bit of wear or fraying where it rubbed against my backpack during all of my walks to and from stands. It's not enough to warrant replacing them yet, but I've never had a string show any wear after multiple years of carrying Ian around. I suspect the string quality is north as good as those I've had in the past. Every other aspect of the bow was terrific...at least after one year of use. It'll get a good workout again this year and I'll update if I find any issues. So far..so good.

just shy of two years and I love it. I've harvested only 4 does with it but it performed perfect every time. It was obviously tuned well at factory setup time and was ready to hunt at purchase. If I have to get picky there's 2 items I'd mention. One is the non-metal limb pockets. If I expected to keep the bow for 8-10 years that might be a concern but as technology advances I imagine I'll have a new one before any pocket wear becomes a problem. Secondly I notice the strings fray a little where they rub my backpack while slung over my shoulder when walking. String quality is not as good as my old bow but again I'll change them every couple of years anyway. Nothing else to be critical of that I've found. I love this bow.

Kyle Fohner yes I do still have it and it’s my primary hunting bow. I do think it’s a good bow for both a beginner as well as a seasoned archer. I will change my strings before this next season but that’s the only maintenance item so far. It’s probably not absolutely necessary but I don’t like even a small fray. I’ll get really good replacement strongs. It’s a really good shooting bow.

Bryan Norris I think it would be a terrific starter bow. However it could be much more than that as well. It could be a long term bow that can take you years into the future. You can easily spend twice as much but your definitely not getting twice the product. If you take care of it, it will serve you well till you decide to get a new one. Good luck with your decision.

@davidellisoutdoors3247
@davidellisoutdoors3247 7 жыл бұрын
John Nell I do still really like the bow. I've harvested one deer with it so far this year and it was a clean pass through at 25 yds. That is the only shot I've taken so i don't have a lot of evidence but so far so good. I definitely like the shorter axle to axle length and the maneuverability it affords me in the tree trying to get a shot and hanging in the bow hanger. I haven't come across anything about the bow I wish was different, at least not yet. As for tips, I would suggest not setting the draw weight so high that you can't pull it straight back without difficulty. I can pull back 70# but I set my draw weight at about 63 #, that way it's easy to pull and just as importantly, I can let off of full draw if I need to without it jerking me and spooking the deer. Also get a good release and practice shooting out to at least 20 yards beyond the distance you expect to actually shoot at deer in the woods. And practice from up in a stand and at very close distances. I find that at 10 yards and less my bow shoots about 4" higher than aim point and it was much higher than that for my older bow. I hope these tips help and I think you will really enjoy shooting such a nice bow.

in the first three seconds of footage, you mentioned four models of bows and so as I watching it through I like anyone though it would actually be a comparison of said bows with each making an onscreen appearance. by the time you're done, I realized you never did have a Carbon Icon so it perplexed why it was even bothered to be mentioned.

@davidellisoutdoors3247
@davidellisoutdoors3247 7 жыл бұрын
Andrew Larkin maybe so but I'm not sure. I consistently shoot about 4 inches right of target at 35 yards. It may be because of the different grip on the PowerMax causing some hand torque but I really don't think that is it. I have also changed to a new release that is a different type and I suspect that is the culprit. I need to shoot my old release to test that theory but I just haven't done it yet. Otherwise I love the new PowerMax even more than my old xtec.

To much draw weighed. Poor form on draw back.

Ron Thibeau I say you don't know what you're talking about. Be specific, what about the drawback are you referring to? The draw weight is perfect for me.

We'll what I was seeing us you pulling over target to draw back. Should be a smooth pull back not leaving target. Common when draw weight is to high. Just an observation. Most people I've watched on utube are drawing to heavy a weight

Thanks for the reply. While that is especially important when drawing back on a deer, it is not as important when target practicing. It takes much more muscle control and strength to do that and if you're going to shoot more than 10 or so times, you needlessly fatigue yourself and your accuracy will degrade. When I'm finished physically preparing for season, I'll then begin shooting much fewer shots but psychologically preparing. That's when perfect form shooting practice comes. Good hunting. I hope you get a big one.
