Or is that a heat reducing material you are using? Not sure. Didn't think any adhesive would go back onto the laptop but this is first time I'm doing this. Video is nice and really helped me take the laptop apart as the fan component needs replacing.

Is there an easy way to take the CMOS/BIOS battery out? I saw one HP where it was just a matter of removing a backplate and it was exposed.

Good video but mine is a different pavilion which doesn't have screws in the pipes. Im still finding ways to remove the fan in the board. I think it has a glue or something because I don't see any screws in it.

Thanks for the video. Is it just me, or does it seem like the left hinge is really bad design? The mounting surface area is not large enough (its about half the size of the right hinge) to handle the spring load of the hinge causing the nut and housing to just rip out. I tried WD40 to loosen up the hinge to no avail...

It seems like yes, until you get access to the fan. However, usually, it requires the change of paste as well.

When taking the unit apart, i found these shims throughout the unit. I think this was why the unit died. Does anyone know what they were used for?

Thermal paste is to fill any void between the two surfaces.if both surfaces are flat then think about how thin of a layer of paste is actually needed.the amount applied here is to much.two dots the size of a BB on each die would have been plenty.

I'm sorry, but my Pavilion g7 looks different on that side. It has much more screws. Does it differ in the g7 series? Also, the screws holding back that plate you removed don't work for me, I can turn them infinitely, but it seems like they're stuck and won't come out. Anybody having an idea of what went wrong?

@BrienHolcombe
@BrienHolcombe 3 жыл бұрын
@@djinn.n there is no thermal seal with paste. It is more like a piece of velcro, the rigid part, and the cpu rests on that.

No changes after cleaning CPU temp is 98 celsius. Any advice?
@crm4F240
@crm4F240 6 жыл бұрын
Try coretemp, speccy indicates 88 C and coretemp 61. Anyway, after replacing the original yet only partially applied cooling agent by a new, the processor fully covered layer of Master Gell Maker (Cooler Master manuf.), the very often appearing vacuum cleaner noise of the fan is history.

What adhesive do you use for the fan?
@NotebookCenterTV
@NotebookCenterTV 6 жыл бұрын
It is thermal paste.
@jackkraken3888
@jackkraken3888 2 жыл бұрын
It's not an adhesive it's called thermal paste, its supposed to help transfer the heat from chip to the cooling system. It must be applied properly and if not done correctly will caused the CPU and/or the graphics card chip to overheat and caused thermal throttling which will slow down your pc to prevent damage to the CPU/graphics chips.
