Hpi Released the re-release BAJA5B as a self-build kit, but not before sending us the Gasoline motorless kit to build up, check out, and share our thoughts. The problem is, I'm completely biased! I never thought they bring back something that people use to love back then. I remember they existed and I did remember their was an electric version of the 5B back then. First the HPI WR8 Subaru Rally Car and now this. Time flies by so fast and I’m glad to hear HPI is back in their game. I hope they bring back some of this famous 1/10 rc cars soon.

They're working hard to bring back everything they can. They lost the manufacturer and a lot of things have to be sourced and found before things get back to production 100%. but they're getting there. I for one hope they bring back the savage kit.

That is probably the most beutifull thing i have seen in my entire life, what a blast of a car. I just bought the Rovan 01 "Stealth" Baja car yesterday and i am waiting for it, for many years ago i was also driving a smaller buggy for some time, now i am getting back to the hobby, i am tired of beeing alot indoor infront of screens so i really need this. In time i wanna build a car like this from the ground up when i get a little more familiar with all the mechanics. I love this car so much, great video, greetings from Denmark. ❤

Congrats KPOP, exciting to see the HPI Baja back, 14 years ago there where a group of guys in southern California that really put the Baja on the map, too bad HPI could not have got a couple kits out to them as well, OG's, you know who you are :) Also, your shout-out to DDM was spot on. I will get one I have lots of R/C most 10rh scale electric but I do have DBXL 2.0 and it's definitely my favorite, so bad ass, big, real the smell is awesome when using top shelf oil, it's like driving a real buggy....it's just awesome....your channel rocks💯

I have watched this build video like a dozen times now and I think I am convinced. Will spend my christmas bonus on this thing. I think I will go with a Zenoah G320RC and a Mielke exhaust (have run one on my 4.6cc nitro and despite being quieter, gave the engine ALOT more power).

we did kind of a cost comparison and we found the fifthscale is cheaper than most bashers, and most 8th scale racing platforms. once you factor in batteries.

they like to suck up leaves. so yes you need to be careful and clean those pockets under there regularly. also look into outerwares for your engine pull start and block.

I Still have my original SS. I bought two as well as a 5T. I gave my 5T to my older sister and one of my SS's to my nephew. I built both SS's because that's what I enjoy. I still have the first SS though. I've been out of the RC world for a few years and was just starting to get back into it again starting around thanksgiving. I got my old SS out that's set around for years not running and was going to get it running again when I found out about the re-release of the Baja 5B SBK and had to have it. I finally found a dealer that had one in stock and got it just before Christmas. I'm still awaiting for a few minor parts to finish the build. I can't wait to get out and run my SS against my new SBK. Now if only HPI would re-release the Savage in kit form again. I know they would have at lease one sale here, maybe two.

This makes me happy as shit. I just picked up an authentic complete chassis of a Baja 5B and a 5SC conversion kit for it (Has some RPM parts). I was struggling to find good parts for it. Rovan is ok but their quality is definitely subpar and I would assume the same of King which also produces parts for these. There is some stuff missing but for the price I am not disappointed cause it is in excellent condition. Another thing I was struggling to find was the freaking manual for sale, not just a PDF, as well as a build manual at all. I cant find on even in a PDF. Basically mine is at the point you had yours at 13 minutes in, add shocks and take away the read diff and fuel tank and thats the build state mine sits currently.

As an old school hpi fan im happy for the come back. But with all these releases one thing thats still void… parts support. I bought the 2022 wr8 and still cant get so much as an a arm.. and they bust of you look at them wrong lol. So my whole wr8 is on integy.

Nice car but I wish they would make a cab forward shell for these like the mcd rr5 . That would finally swing it for me to get one. The desert buggy look is a cool and old school but the cab forwards look modern and mean!

Any noticeable strengthening to the gearbox/ transmission case? I remember that was a big weak point on mine.

it's a bone stock 2.0. Im sure down the line, they'll add upgrades. but right now i think priority is to get all the production up and running to offer stock parts, cheaply and at a WAY higher quality than clone companies.

The gearbox is extremely strong. The only point of concern would be the clutch bell carrier. There are very easy and relatively inexpensive fixes for that.

I am ordering one of these! It has always been the "one that got away" for me in the RC hobby. They were released as I was getting into the hobby as a teenager, and they were just out of my price range at the time. By the time I could afford one, they were discontinued and hard to find. Now that I am an "adult" I have more purchasing power and will have one of these preordered at my LHS asap! I am excited to see what you put in it from DDM. I will likely copy your set up to a T. Can't wait to see you put the power plant in it dude!!!
