This is a true story where 71 high school students held off an entire battalion of the North Korean troops. They all lost their lives but that critical time that they've managed to hold off saved countless thousands. RIP to those students. May your souls find peace and your deaths not be in vain.

For a fact this is a true story... 54 of those soldiers died and 23 of them survived. There memorial is held at Busan, Korea. Every year they thank these student soldiers for volunteering. So far we know that few of them is still alive. For one i know that the guy who revealed this lost history is a pastor now in korea. He was 15 when he joined.

This clip is from the movie "71: Into the Fire". It's a dramatization of the real defense of a girl's middle school by 71 South Korean student volunteers during the Pusan Perimeter phase of the Korean War. These untrained kids held off a North Korean onslaught for 11hrs before finally being overrun. This actually happened (if not necessarily the way the movie showed it).

1) the NK troops are the ones with the hats, brownish uniforms. 2) The ROK troops are the ones with the green uniforms, and green helmets. Even though yes, the NK used T-34's, the Russians had a fair stash of American tanks due to the US giving it to them in WWII to help them in the fight against the Germans. there is a probability that the Russians might have given/sold some of these to the North Koreans after WWII.

@tic-tac93233 жыл бұрын
@@vyofe Well not entirely sure you do either, because 13,000 US tanks were shipped off to the USSR. Granted, most of them were probably destroyed during the war or replaced by more modern Soviet designs towards the end but they probably would've had a few left over, though not many by any standard And to be honest I do doubt the part that the Soviets sold any old American tanks to North Korea because most sent to them were outdated to begin with and even the more modern ones sent over like Shermans were starting to be replaced by the M26 and M46

This event actually happened in history though. The movie was based of of the 71 student soldiers who died fighting off North Koreans. They were the turning point in the war. The powerful acting brought back something terribly sad back to the present. And you can't help but feel sad about what happened in this movie! THAT'S why I cried buckets. Not because it was "realistic". And not because TOP died (even though it killed me inside when it happened...T^T)

@krnsoldier u have a good eye...yes its a sherman medium tank...the reason was that they couldn't rent a t-34 tank because of budgeting issues and having a tight schedule...don't forget they filmed this during the winter when in fact the movie takes place in the summer. they felt it was cheaper just to disguise it with camouflage and pass it off like a t-34 tank. Saving Private Ryan did a similar fashion when ironically they made a t-34 tank into a tiger tank

@OceanHUH what did you expect. The entertainment part of it causes some compromises to be made on the accuracy. Have you seen Patton with George C. @awibaquirel It's about a group of south Korean students who put up supposed heroic resistance against invading North Koreans in the Korean war in 1950.
@yckwon12 жыл бұрын
Many Korean highschoolers and middle school students were recruited to defend Nakdong river defence line during North Korean invasion to South in the year 1950. They were not trained enough to go into battle but their strong spirit and will to fight against North Korean invaders made them legend. The battle was true thing but they could not fight like Rambo as in the movie. However they eventually defended the area with more than 80% casualties.

To those wondering why the North Koreans are using Shermans, the Soviets and Chinese gave NK a lot of ex-US and UK equipment, either lend-lease leftovers or captured from the Chinese Nationalists. I recall there was one encounter where British Centurion tanks knocked out a British-built Cromwell tank being used by the NK forces.

So we have two South Koreans with one holding two incredibly heavy M1 grands at the start although one is is around 8 or 9 kilograms. They have a belt of amo when we did not use amo belts that’s another 10 kilograms. They have Soviet SMG’s that only the North Koreans would have they should have a Grease gun but that’s another 5 kilograms. With the amo for those guns and the stuff in there bags there carrying at least 50 kilograms each that’s a 110 pounds and their running. And the North Koreans have a American tank which I don’t get for production because a T 34 would be cheaper to get
@DayDreamer102515 жыл бұрын
About the Soviet smgs : three of the student soldiers stole a north Korean supply truck so that's where they got all the stuff. About the Sherman: Sherman's saw use on all three front's. West, east and Pacific. US gave some of them to the Russians. It could have been stolen but at that time US armor didn't arrived yet aside from a few light tanks.
