I had one of these "respect my pronoun" types in my department. An obvious straight, natural born female who clearly just wanted the attention. Almost everyone on the department collectively decided to "misgender" her by using she/her instead of her preferred they/them. Effectively like a collective intervention to show her normal people don't have time to sanction this kind of bullshit, essentially making it so unequivocally exhausting and tedious she had no choice but to drop the no -binary attention act.

It can be annoying if someone abuses it, but you could easily be sued successfully. If you ever have someone at work who genuinely identifies a particular way, you probably need to just respect their wishes. The identity is not your decision, but acting like an adult and being respectful would be.

@@neosapienz7885 Unfortunately the bastardisation of the English language and company's ongoing appeasement of attention seekers and people with untreated mental disorders and other defects of their psyche has only served to encourage people who otherwise might have grown out of it. @@markb5403 you’re not concerned about protecting the language, so start there. You may be right about the employee in your department, but maybe not. You don’t understand the nature of the issue, which is gender identity. That identity has facets and is contextual. We can take ours for granted, but some people can’t. The matter may be clinical, but not necessarily as a mental disorder. What would it have hurt to acknowledge the person and respect her wishes? Her identity is not your decision and you and your colleagues seem to have put a lot of negative effort to teach her a lesson. The only lesson you taught was she worked with a bunch of jerks.

In psychology narcissism is broken down into three types or presentations: narcissistic personality disorder, grandiose narcissism, and vulnerable narcissism. SJWs and those who subscribe to the mind virus of Wokeism often employ the tactics of vulnerable narcissists in order to 'cry bully' others into compliance. It's one of the more difficult to detect forms of narcissism. It's even more difficult to convince others that someone is exhibiting the behaviours of a vulnerable narcissist. The entire strategy is presenting oneself as a victim and then guilt tripping others to do as you say to compensate for their status as a victim. "You wouldn't be bigoted against member of a marginalized protected class, would you? You're not being some kind of phobic are you? Oh, you are being phobic? Time for you to be cancelled. Watch as I feign offense and use the anger of others on my behalf to cancel you while i gain sympathy and attention." It's disgusting snake like behaviour; that most people are too slow or too kindhearted to acknowledge for what it is. Anyone who calls the behaviour out is silenced, banned, ostracized, et cetera. More people need to become educated on how to identify and deal with this behaviour and these types of people. Otherwise the degradation of society will continue. And the future will be ruled by emotionally unstable anxiety cases who have forced their neuroses on everyone else and forced the world to tiptoe on eggshells around them.

The famous quote from CS Lewis - a Christian and author of the Narnia series of books: “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”

I flat out said and refused to deal with Larry/“Melanie” ever again. After all, how can I be “bullying or disrespecting *her* “ if I never talk to the person. This was back in April and I still have my job and actually got promoted, but Larry/Melanie does not.

Why are we not pointing out that pronouns are used when someone is talking about a person who is usually not around? These ppl are actually trying to dictate how we speak when they are nowhere near us. I have never walked up to a friend or coworker and said, "Hey she, how are things?" If the person is around and someone asks, "Hey, whose cup is this?" I usually would answer with the person's name and not a pronoun. I'm just pointing out that we don't use pronouns when we are directly speaking to a person. Unless, it is "you", which has no gender specifications. Can we all start point this out and finally shut down the madness? Unless, they say that their actual name is Zer/Zim or whatever else they claim, that person will not dictate how I speak when they are not around.

Last night I was accosted by a woman neighbor for walking on the sidewalk. I was walking by behind her back fence, 8 ft. from the back of her house on the public sidewalk a couple feet outside her fence. It was dark and I like to walk at night and use my walker as well, having previously needed to basically learn to walk again and I strive to regain and to keep my mobility. I walk at night because I don't want my neighbors to worry about me and feel bad for me, I am fine. Especially this last week with a turban sized bandage on my head after surgery I felt a little less like being on display. Turns out I hadn't imagined all the possibilities of how my neighbors might react to me or think of me. I had been sitting enjoying the last of sunset up at the end of the sidewalk a good safe distance from her house. She drove by in her truck while I was there, and then around the corner to the front of her house. Its a very quiet street, nearly a country road really. While walking back home as usual she stopped me and over the fence told she doesn't think I should be sitting there and walking out there, gesturing around toward the roadway. At first I thought she was worried I would get hit by a car or get accosted by criminals. But she started talking about creepy and I realized she saw me as a threat or problem. I said, I am the kindest and most righteousness driven man you'll meet and you are worried about me as a threat? The reason I mention it, aside from it being an experience that as I told her near the end of it, it worked out to be the worst I have ever been treated as an adult, (I am 65 so that's saying something), is that she had that woke feelings crazed imagination fear of talking and truth look on her face, just like we see in these clips and all. Knowing full well everything about it is wrong, but doing it anyway, like any tyrant. Also, people in this comment section mention "forcing people" and I told her she was trying to force me and she denied it and was soon telling me and then yelling over my voice, to just go home. Telling me to go home. Yelling at a senior disabled guy over the fence to go home. Told me if I don't go home, she would go to our house and get my son to drag me into the house. Like encountering an alien life form really. Persecute the old disabled guy because you think he feels creepy with a bandage on his head? Tell a free man who is harmless and obviously so, what to do - and demand it? and not know it's force and unrighteous force? I am still trying to imagine how she got like that but I am working on it a little at a time because thinking about it too much is actually too much. I will be walking by her fence again in a few minutes. Maybe later I will find out how they define sociopath. A harm to society. Breaking people's peace and sovereignty because you feel uncomfortable and can't control it. A walking talking pathology.

This implies that girls never bully men or other girls because they never threaten violence. That's simply not the case. They instead use gossip and reputation destruction to annihilate your social status and make it harder for you to make friends or be given justice when you're blamed for something you didn't do. You are of course expected to gain mental and emotional resilience in response to this, and find friends who are also alienated by them. @@harbingertheheretic3541 Sorry, but the fact that people may have “allegedly” be fired, or fined or arrested for this liberal insanity and thought police bullying tactics is irrelevant. The people who attempt to push this are NOT experts in any field, or in any way correct. This “think what we tell you to think”, “say what we tell you to say” bullshit will NOT be accepted by those who believe in the Freedoms this Republic bestows on us and will fight to the death to uphold these tights. Never capitulate, in any way, any shape, any form. Cancer, if left untreated will grow, spread and kill, this is no different. And again, she is NO expert in HR.

I work for a big, relatively famous company. The company policy is: not only to use preferred pronouns but also report colleagues for any kind of "offense" (e.g. asking someone where they come from, god forbid use wrong pronoun), even during their private time. Stasi says hello. The personal consequence for me is to be extremely wary of my colleagues and avoid contact, especially with LGBTQ+- and POC people, as much as possible because otherwise i would constantly run into danger of unintentionally offending someone. I wish i could say anything but it would get instantly fired if i don't comply. Great policies, will certainly help productivity.

As a person who has the ability to hire and fire employees, that would be a deal breaker. If a candidate wants to use a strange pronoun, no job for you. And if one slips through the cracks and does get hired, a quick reduction of force is in order. This goes for a lot of other personality traits, so it isn't just pronouns. A crew works better as a team and a member that wants to disrupt the team is not a good employee.

I'm also a person who has the ability to hire and fire employees. You may want to read your last sentence again, and then think of how disruptive it is for somebody to call another person anything other than the name and pronouns they've requested to be called. To do that would lead to chaos in my workplace. No thank you. I couldn't care less if someone on our team identified as a beach ball, as long as they did their job effectively. Because at the end of the day, what they want to be called doesn't affect me or anyone else, nor does it cause disruption. By the way, the trans employee we do have is amazing at her job and just got a promotion, so if I were you, I would also be thinking about how much of a loss it would be to your workplace to deny a potentially amazing worker a chance just because you disagree with their pronouns.

@@sgtbananas3521 I think it’s weird, concerning, and more an indicator of your own poor mental health to be freaking out as much as you are. You definitely sound like the disruptive type. I don’t dispute that people can’t change their biological sex, and what’s funny is, neither do they. Pretty sure they’re acutely aware of something that causes them so much pain. Besides, they call themselves “trans” for a reason. But even if I hypothetically agreed with you…why cause them a breakdown? That’s kinda dehumanizing for no reason, and it sounds more like that’s what you’re arguing for-the right to insult and degrade someone you don’t agree with without being “canceled”. It doesn’t work that way.

This projecting of one’s personal comfort as being the responsibility of someone other than one’s self flies in the face of personal growth, a healthy mindset and personal responsibility. It’s sad and unfortunate for these individuals who are conflicted within themselves as per their uncertain and ever changing identity.

What I find most sad is that these feelings of discomfort over pronouns is a created crisis. Even five years ago most people seemed very comfortable with the constraints of pronoun usage that had existed since pronouns were inserted into the language, to make communication more streamlined. Making up hundreds of “pronouns “ actually complicates language dramatically, making the repeated use of the name of individuals far more simple. Sigh.
