I love Gil so much, with his incessant smile and pure joy he approaches every piece, but this particular time Anne Gastinel was the undisputed star of the entire performance. Magnificent rendition under Maestro Järvi 's inspired conducting!

Streaming it now on tv. What a bittersweet memory of the late Great Pianist Nicholas Angelich! The amazing soloists Nicholas Angelich, Gil Shaham, Anne Gastinel, Sinfonieorchester conducted by impeccable Paavo Järvi are all that needed to make Beethoven: Tripelkonzert sound so exquisite! Thank you.

I love the delicacy of this sprightful interpretation of this delightful Beethoven concerti - so many others to feast on, but this one is precious - can one "feast" on a piece of music - I guess they can. The orchestra and the absolutely fabulous soloists... and the wonderful Paavo Järvi gave ALL they had. What a feast it was... and is. How lucky to be able to view all of these superb musicians and conductor for this "feast" that can be heard over and over. Thank you, KZfaq!

This is an exciting performance of the most "classical", least performed, but charming and exquisite, of Beethoven's concerti. It brings out all of its good-natured energy and many touches of genius. I appreciate this work more each time I hear it, especially in this sparkling rendition!

Einfach wunderbar!

Gil Shaham is the most exciting performer. I have met him several times and seen him 10-12 times. He is more gracious, friendly and nice as anyone I have ever met. I met him when he was 24 and now he is in his 40s. It has been a great 20 years of following him. That is what a truly extraordinary artist can do to someone like me and many others. I hope he lives a very, very long time.

This is the most charming music -for me- by Bee. Many, not all, of the rest of his music tends to be -for me again- somewhat too romantically poised and even egotistical at times. This is just pure music.

This was a wonderful recording marred only by the foolish comments of some of the listeners; one who complained about Anne's playing because she was a woman, another annoyed by Gil's E string that was too shrill for his ears. The fault, dear Brutus, was in too much treble inserted by the Sound Engineer. Note that for a moment or two the video wasn't sharp enough because the automatic lens adjustment didn't work properly. It's a good thing that there's no automatic placement of fingers on fingerboards. The musicians have to do that themselves. The result was there was no one out of tune.

Gil Shaham's sound in this performance is particularly delightful, as is the cellist. The piano is great, but in my view is slightly over loud in the balance of the recording. Some interesting shots in the filming, I hope the musicians were warned in advance to wash behind their ears. Gil Shaham's enjoyment of the playing by the other performers, such as the cello opening in the second movement, is really nice.
