The Water Orton Viaducts, located east of the M42 and Lichfield Road, will be made up of two viaducts that will hold 700 metres of new HS2 track over the River Tame and a network of existing transport links, including the Birmingham-Peterborough line, running between Water Orton and Coleshill Parkway Stations.

Actually the final footprint of HS2 is small when the groundworks are cleared away. A fraction of the M42 in the background.

Interesting Video Paul, could you do one over the Bromford tunnel entrance by Park hall school. A heck of a lot of cranes and buildings have gone up there. Would be interesting to try make out what its all for.

Thanks for the video Paul. Very complex area to figure out. Im guessing this is the root of the Y junction looking north approx. Will have to look at the official maps.

it is not a "Y" junction as it has 3 lines through it, one from Birmingham Interchange through this Junction to Birmingham Curzon street on the first leg, then from Birmingham Curzon Street to Manchester on the Second leg and then from London to Manchester across the top leg making it a diamond shape and called a Delta Junction

So why would it be cancelled then !!!

@@peterwilliamallen1063you asked that question years ago when I said the same & I was proved correct when I said the cost was unsustainable Eastern leg - cancelled Golborne link - cancelled Northern leg - cancelled Euston station - unlikely to be completed. Don't rule out the cancelling of the London - Birmingham leg yet .. especially when Labour win the next election!

@@CRIMSONANT1 It was Labour who started the construction of HS2 and too far gone to cancel after building the Colne Valley Viaduct, the Chiltern Tunnels two of the largest contructions in the UK, the buliding of the Delta Junction on the edge of Birmingham and the construction of Birmingham Curzon Street, Birmingham Interchange Stations and London OOC Stations plus the start of the HS2 Maintainance and administration facilities at Washwood Heath in Birmingham, nar it won't be cancelled my man

@@peterwilliamallen1063 .. you're correct but over the years, Labour have come to their senses & accepted that the rising costs of this massive white elephant have become totally unsustainable & in a January interview, Sir Keir Starmer stated that when (not if), Labour win the next election, they have no plans whatsoever to revive the Northern leg because .. "it was not possible to do as the government had blown the budget & contracts are going to be cancelled". Just because huge amounts of money have been spent on current infrastructure means nothing. In the USA, tunnels, bridges, tracks etc had already been built at huge cost for a rail project in New Jersey before the governor pulled the plug on the project because of the cost continually rising. Fingers crossed the same happens here 😉

@@CRIMSONANT1 Why would labour cancel it when they are the ones that started it and the conservatives have the track record of cancelling nearly all of it?

The Tories need to bow their heads in shame. After all the misery and heartache people have been put through in compulsory land and housing purchasing to make way for a project that would have put the UK amonst those counties with a FAST rail line, but no the tory goverment clip it to virtually to nothing, but a white elephant. No routes to the North and it does even run into London ....its an absolute DISGRACE !

It's still a waste of money , the only people who will use HS2 are Londoner's commuting from affordable housing from the Arden Cross Newtown next to the Solihull interchange . Bham airport will expand with more flights to ease Heathrow congestion and use HS2 back to London . Andy Street does not dare mention HS2 in his leaflet to promote him as `mayor again . John M.

Actually many people in Birmingham will benefit from HS2. parents now live in Marston Green on the main line from Euston to Birmingham. Biggest problem with trains for them is the delays where there train is held up for the intercity trains from Euston. HS2 will mean that many of those intercity can be redirected onto HS2 providing more capacity to run local commuter trains. This frees up platform slots in New St allowing more commuter services. The Camp Hill line being reopened to passenger and additional stations can use these slots that freed up. That will also reduce the congestion of the direct line from kings Norton to new st allowing improved services for cross city line service. With the delta then no reason that the trains continuing up to Manchester and beyond cannot be routed into Curzon street and then upto Manchester rather then into New Street. Those are the real benefits of HS2 as opposed to saving XX minutes to London. HS2 main issues have been 1.) people fixated on the XX minutes to London rather then free capacity for more commuter and freight. 2.) NIMBY down south massively escalating the costs with tunnels as opposed to original cheaper routing to be point where the northern sections cancelled though suspect could be reinstated later. 3.) unknowns such as the burial ground round Euston that correctly delayed whilst the bodies removed, the remains of the round house in Birmingham that delayed to allow archaeologists in. Protestors down Euston in the tunnels. All of these have added costs over and above the plan as well.

Every one who at present uses Avanti West Coast Trains on the WCML route to and from London will use the HS2 route when it opens as all train services operated by Avanti West Coast trains will be moved off the WCML to the HS2 route, and the station you refer to as Solihull Interchange is actually going to be Called Biringham Interchange to match upto Birmingham International Station and Birmingham Airport, the reason given is International next to it and National Travellers and National do not know anything about the Town of Solihull 8 miles away and the Station is in an area next to the Birmingham Boundry and is all ways refered to a Birmingham and Solihull Town has a Station in the Town Centre on the Chiltern Line between Birmingham Snow Hill and London Marylebone
