Aaaah noooo! The horrible middle-aged Karens. They have such a beautiful stance (NOT!) on life telling others what to do by following the rules etc. They might as well be communist enforcers…hate them! Not sure what I would have done, since it is probably not as easy as waiting for them to piss off. I probably would have felt the same as you, being a nice sensitive guy…deflated this time around but coming back (elsewhere) another day instead.

Communists hahaha yes mate they were absolutely fun sponges that’s for sure 💪 Yeah I could have waited around and camped out on top of that hill but their bad vibes mixed with the fact that I hadn’t found a stealth camping spot I was happy with - was a bit of a trip ender for me! The Karen’s may have won the battle but they haven’t won the war!! 🤣🏕🍻

I had a great camp at that exact place in Jul when there were loads of people around for most of the day. I think the trick is to not set up until after sunset when everyone has dispersed. It also helps to have a smaller pack that isn't quite so obviously for camping (e.g. no sleeping mat on the outside).

Bad luck this time. Hope you find a spot next time. I'm from around this area and head up to the monument frequently. The best place for a spot is to just head in the woods off the main track. I've set up a few times nearby. Josh

There was a crusty environmentalist camp here before where all those hippies were camping in the trees with a fortress around them. They all got evicted though eventually

There are always Karens everywhere. HS2, remember HS1? It may have been fast when it was planned decades ago. I'm in 2 minds over it. Progress, destruction. But you need infrastructure updates, but do we. I'm a bit of a NIMBY. The nearest depot for HS2 is 15 miles from us. As for the camp. If it didn't feel right, then it didn't feel right. At least you got outdoors and some fresh air and miles. Thanks for sharing, David.

Looks like theres loads of places you could have camped up! No way they could have found you, or likely even bothered to look even if the Karens had been dicks.... Id have told them I was going up there to take pics of the night sky or observe a meteor shower of something

I’d have hit it with u. I live near that and went there as a dodgy Russian agent and messed about with security. Unfortunately my camera setting was on the lowest res but hey ho next time I’ll give it a revisit
