I love this show it's brilliant even if it starts of a bit cheesy and dated at first it pays of trust me.

Billie does that look-back a few times. She is a master at it.

This season is not the most popular but it has his moments. I love it, though. ♥

Ngl when I saw this episode as a kid, I never realised how easy it was for the mechanical spider to kill that blue guy, looking back now that's such a flaw in system to be able to just open the window in front of a fucking sun going super nova is so funny 🤣

Some later eps are set in the USA but for budget reasons most are UK centric.

hope you stick with it, it does get so much better. side note you may not know but HS2 in the UK is a proposed controversial High Speed railway. you may be able to use it in your comedy.

Doctor Who may come across a slight bit strange at first but just stick with it as it improves a hell of a lot (still keeping it's unique quirks)

Dear me, I'm British but still remember that Kennedy was assassinated on 22 November 1963 (although I only recall the date because it was the day before the very first episode of Doctor Who aired) and we saw a terribly Photoshopped image of exactly that moment just last episode. More recently, President Reagan was shot and injured in 1981 in an assassination attempt so I think such attempts are a bit more recent than 'back in the 50s'! Rose's gymnastic abilities shouldn't be overestimated. The line in the last episode was that she won the bronze medal in the Under-7s competition in her school--so not quite Olympic standard. Pedantic ex-teacher here but enjoyed your reaction even if you did talk over a couple of key bits of dialogue.

If you haven't seen Attack the Block check it out. This has actors from Doctor Who (current Doctor), Star Wars (John Boyega) and Star Trek Picard (Luke Treadaway). Fun movie.

Doctor who is very silly, very weird, very unique and very old, but it's a great journey.

Despite the fact that there are currently 38 seasons of _Doctor Who,_ and does have a very extensive in-story universe, the show doesn't really require you to know about all that. Recognizable things from the classic series will show up, but you don't have to know the history of any of it, you'll still be just fine going (as you are) from the 2005 season. If there's anything from the classic series that would be particularly relevant at the moment, maybe _Genesis of the Daleks_ would. What caused him to be the last of the Time Lords was not part of the classic series. It's a kind of in-between event which you'll find out about, so don't worry. Just a little correction on the human evolution conversation: _Homo sapiens sapiens_ didn't evolve from Neanderthals. That's a common misconception. They are two separate human (both fit into the genus Homo) lines which existed as evolutionary contemporaries alongside each other. Some modern humans share certain DNA with Neanderthals and some do not because only some of our ancestral populations interbred with them.

Also the reason the doctor always ends up in a bad situation is because the TARDIS (his ship) takes him where there is trouble so he can solve it.

I actually got into this show cause I was looking for something cheesy, then it blew me away

Personally i prefer the „Geordie“-accent (Relatively difficult to understand for other English speakers, but easy to understand for me as a native German speaker)

To be honest it is very hard to see how those spiders did drag the blue woman in. It is not very plausible.

Much like Star Trek: The Next Generation, the new series of Doctor Who improves substantially with time. One thing I also appreciate about this episode is that if you're going to do time travel, why not go big? I can't recall any other science fiction film or tv show that's gone to the literal end of the planet. Even The Time Machine by H.G. Wells only went about 800,000 years into the future.

there are a couple mini episodes inbetween seasons sometimes it is good to watch those when you come to them also i'm sure we'll let you know in the comments :D liking the reactions so far

Definitely worth at least watching up to episode 6. This show has a pretty weak first 5 episodes. But I think you'd enjoy the whole thing, it's obviously very silly but has a lot of brilliant moments too and so much variety. Also echo what others have said -you should avoid the Next Time trailers as they can be spoilery.

Not my favorite season,even though it's very fun and silly in a good way. Even though it's like this during the show,especially in this season,doctor who never fails to make me cry,laugh,being entertained. That's why I love doctor who,it's very emotional,kind,moving,every character stays in your heart. Even though I think you have to watch all seasons to understand what is so great about doctor. Please stick with it,you won't regret it! Also this series is kind of devided by eras(you will understand what that means in the future),some seasons feel like a different show,if you look back at the first season,and that's great,it's the reason why doctor who was always fresh and interesting to watch for more than 50 years.

I remember starting this show and telling my best friend who convinced me to watch it how cheesy and outdated everything is now. Being in this fandom has some of the greatest payoffs of all time, holy shit. Never would have thought it would become my all-time favorite show, but here we are.

A lot of people talking some mild smack about this first series as a means to convince newbies its actually quite good if given half a chance. I'm not down with whacking Who man! I'm a proud Whovian and I embrace all of the New Who origin. If you like it, I'll subscribe. If you give credence to those that describe it as quaint, cheesy or dated... I'll just move on by. 😁 For those of us who grew up with Doctor Who from about the middle of the original run. Calling the delightful rebirth of this show cheesy and dated is actually quite hilarious. 🤣

I would suggest reacting to some older Classic stories as well.

The show had hundreds of shorter episodes in classic doctor who which started in 1963. So this one is the 8th incarnation. All will be explained even if you just go forward from this point. Time Lords can do things other time travellers can't.

if you want to accomplish a "british accent" , maybe realise "britain" is England ,scotland and wales .the UK also includes Northern Ireland. then you have london accent, liverpool, manchester..many different ones. whay you mean probably is the London "cockney" accent, as in Michael Caine. cant be funny if the words, facts are wrong :) Rose is doing a London accent, Doctor is a northern england one. anyway essay over lol.

Love that episode, imho a huge increase compared to the first episode. But I worry about you two talking too much over dialogues, seems you don't really listen and care about the series.. Well, just my opinion. ;)
