This video is great. Thank you. I have a cricut maker and the easy press 2. I wanted to learn what the diff was btw HTV and sublimation. I’d love to see a video on other items you can use htv on.

I didn't know what people were talking about until watching your video. lol So thank you for enlightening me. I just got my heat press today, so yes I will be it's fan for a while once I learn how to use it properly. On the other side though, I like the thinness of the sublimation as HTV can sometimes become heavy or itchy on certain material.

Hi. I have the ability to do both HTV & Sublimation. Now this is my first time doing it; as my upcoming nuptials prompted me to learn quickly. Based on your experiment, I love the design for starters. The HTV colors are bright and vibrant in contrast to the Sublimation. Granted the sublimation is much easier, cost effective BUUUT, the colors are so much more livelier. Thank you so much. I have learned so much from you. I would enjoy both type of videos HTV & sublimation.

Love sublimation. Would love to see sublimation with glitter or other htv highlights. Or even rhinestone on top of sublimation. Just to make it pop more.

The actual saying was Hippy Hippy Shake. I think it was a dance move as I think I remember a song with this phrase in. However all I can remember of the song was "I can't still, I got the hippy hippy shake.

Been doing both. moving to eco solvent printing on HTV. I am hopeful for that because i cant afford DTF or white tonor printing

I am actually an HTV and PSV person. I use various substrates so it is the best for me. I do have some options using Infusible inks by Cricut without needing to invest in a sublimination printer. I print my outline design, color it to get the look I want and transfer. No special papers needed. My biggest problem is that I do not like polyester/blends for the most part. Always nice to see your videos. It gives me other perspectives and ideas. Keep the videos coming.

Woaah, share more about the No paper needed! Newbie here. Have been layering htv vinyl to get simple images that can be layered but would love to do more on shirts without printing

I think the brightness is better with the htv and I prefer cotton but the simplicity of sublimation is awesome.

Do you need parchment inside the shirt too? or does the sublimation ink not bleed from the front to the back?

Hi Llia! Thank you for watching and you certainly can add the parchment inside the shirt to prevent any ink from going through, especially if you are making a shirt to see. We haven't had issues with bleeding but often times we add the heat pad in the middle. - Dawn 🙂

Do you peel the backing before you turn it over and press the back?

For HTV? No, you will leave the clear backing on until you are completely done pressing.

It depends on your budget, if you are doing it for a business I would definitely recommend looking into a SG500. 😊

Hey. I know this is a old video. Bit I was gifted a hat press. And I have tried watching some videos on htv. There are some things I don't understand. Do I have to have a cricut to print the image. Can I just use scissors to cut it? Is there anything else to use?

Hi Kyro! Yes you would need a Cricut to cut the image. You can cut things by hand from HTV but of course hand cutting limits what designs you will be able to make. I made a video about hat press please take a look at what I am using there - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qpuFgq9_u7G9lps.html

I am planning to purchase a Sawgrass printer soon but am not sure if I should go with the sublijet or the Siser easysubli ink. Which would you recommend? Also, if I were to change my mind & want to switch ink later could I do that? Considering options since the Sawgrass has a steep price.

Hi just want to let you know epson also has a sublimation printer it’s the epson F170 that is for sublimation and the ink would be pennies compared to the sawgrass.

It depends on the machine you choose to purchase, the SG500 for instance has specific ink and you wouldn't be able to change it.

Do you not put something between the layers of the shirt to protect the sub ink from going through?

You can, however if you have ink bleeding through than your printer is printing too much ink on the paper.

Why do some people use the cricut heat press compared to the clam shell type heat press? Is there a difference in time and quality of the end result?

They both will do the same as they are both heat presses. With the Cricut press it saves you some space as it is not as big as your clam shell press.

I see that you did not tear the sublimation paper around the design, so it would not leaves lines around it. Yours looked great. How did you avoid that? Thx.

If you get lines you can always put a piece of parchment paper on top and re-press without the paper there. - Brittany

Does matte vinyl HTV remain good quality throughout the years ? Like does it crack eventually ?

Hi there! We haven't had any troubles unless the vinyl wasn't applied correctly. Then, it can start to peel over time.- Dawn

The closest I come to sublimation right now is infusible ink. I'm saving up for a sublimation printer. I want to go with a larger format, so I'll have to spend more $$$.

I use HTV right now, I am curious as to how many prints you get out of the ink cartridge? I understand that it's based on size, specific color etc. But , for example,if a cartridge cost $100 and you get 10-15 prints out of it, it's not too cost effective

You will definitely get more than 10-15 prints out of one cartridge. Like you said it will definitely depend on size and the design used, etc. But you should definitely get more than 10-15 prints! :)

I only paid under $30.00 for my sublimation inks and I have sublimated shirts and skinny Tumblers and cannot tell that my ink levels have moved at all.

Printable paper bleeds so it can transfer onto our heatpress alot more. Also it doesn't transfer as vibrant as printable copy paper holds onto the color more. But that's from my crazy tests. So take it with a grain, maybe someone more experienced can help

100% htv. Since that is what I started with. I love my weeding time…. I would love to sublimate but don’t want to invest in the printer if I don’t think I’ll use it enough to keep the ink viable. I also heard that sublimation is easier to have a big press so you don’t move the image while pressing.

If you have a printer such as a Sawgrass, you do not need to print as much as if you were to have a converted sublimation printer.

The colors are going to be much brighter with sublimation and the main difference you will see is that the sublimation is setting right into the fibers as the printable HTV sits on top of the shirt. It's really just up to what supplies you have available and your project! If I'm making a one time wear shirt, I would use the printable HTV but if it's something to wash and wear over and over, I would recommend the sublimation!

For HTV you do not need either, however it is recommend for sublimation.

I prefer sublimation because you can transfer photographs, it also lasts longer, and quicker and least expensive to create. HTV isn't even dishwasher safe from what I hear.
