Eddie travels around the city with the young storytellers from Fully Focused, a youth-led media organization that aims to create a new image for London's misrepresented youth. He then joins them for their weekly Jerk Friday, where he munches on homemade jerk chicken and speculates about the ingredients of the very secret sauce.

I feel like you need to do another huangs world in london. Most of it in this 3 part wasn't the real london. Just seemed very stereotypical, outdated and you didnt go to any chicken shops, chinatown, west london and jamaican food shops etc. So much vital parts of london food and culture were missing here imo.

Bit of a disappointing series. He went to a shitty little pie and mash shop and overruled all british pie and mash to be bad, and the same with the english breakfast. It's like going to a cheap shitty burger joint in the states and deciding burgers are shit in general. English food I admit is pretty limited but that means it shouldn't be hard to cover it all in a series. He had a crappy breakfast, he didn't go for a roast, or fish & chips, didn't drink any good ale, no sausages, no pastys, no kippers. And he hardly touched on foreign influence on British food. There's tonnes of good food in London and we hardly saw any of it.

British food is pretty gnarly. I mean maybe the rest of the world is just spoiled but..... There's a reason why so many Brits can't ever look at English food the same again after coming to the states....

Also it's different in England in that whilst the upper classes are still predominantly white, the working class people and the poor are very mixed. There's lots of poor black families in London but a lot of poor white families too and they are very much integrated. The kids in London see each other as the same. In America I think there's still a strong idea that the minorities are the underprivileged and poor and need to stand up against the whites, In London it's not so much like that. Go check out the grime scene. For the poor London youth it's more about a culture that binds them, an attitude, a style, not a colour or race.

This should have been more about the food, let the food tell the story. Of a 11 minute ep we don't get to the food until 4 mins in. We got the politics first before the food. The food should segway to the culture and then the politics. This felt more like an advert for the Fully Focused organization than an Eddie Huang exploring the world's cuisine to me.

i see a lot of people saying you didn't go to the "right" London, and I think we as outsiders hear a lot about, and see a lot of the "right" London, the guy chose to look at the past, the present, and the future, nobody is ever going to represent your country, province, city, state, county, in the right way if they're from out of there. He focused on what he wanted to present, to say that's not a part of it or it's somehow negligible because there are other parts of London sounds pretty silly to be honest. You know where you live, you don't need to prove it to anyone, this is the journey one person documented. It's the life some people clearly live. It is what it is. Don't spend so much time being salty about a geographical location. If you don't like what you're seeing, go out and help change it because some people are trying to, and their story should be heard too.

You'd expect Brits to understand that this show and Vice in general don't show the typical, beautiful and overall representation of the places that they visit. That's the whole point. I'd get it if it was from a country that doesn't have a massive global media reach but ya'll know that people aren't going to base all of their judgements about London on this show. He goes for the weird, gritty and counter cultural shit that not even most locals know about. He does it to his motherlands (weird and funny shit in Taiwan and China like betel nut beauties and dirty ass street ppl) and to his hometown Orlando (going to sausage castle).

I have heard brits talk about how they think London is more diverse than NYC. They never give any reason other than, "oi fink lonon is more diverse". It is not, NYC has the most foreign born residents in the world, London is in second place, Toronto is probably first in regards to percentage of foreign born. NYC has 800 languages spoken in it, London has 100. London is 60% white, NYC is 44% or 33% non-hispanic.
@Belihoney
@Belihoney 8 жыл бұрын
I'm from London and I've NEVER heard that in my life that we think that we are more diverse than New York, EVER so I would love to know where you go that (and your accent quotation LOL) from. But, we do have a diverse population and the languages that have been recorded to be spoken is 300, not 100. Plus if someone did say that to you (hmm) then they are probably speaking from their borough as some boroughs literally have half of one foreign nationality let alone different ones and some boroughs have below 20% like Bromley or it was just bants.

I understand being true to yourself but that also means being true to your level of education. I find it difficult to get past the way this man speaks given that he was educated at one of the most expensive private colleges in Florida (Rollins) and went off to acquire a law degree at a T10 law school (NYU Law). Not only that but he worked at one of the most prestigious white shoe law firms in NYC so with that background how is it that this man continues to speak as if he were from the streets(hood)? I lived in Orlando and the part of Orlando that you're from is not the hood. Be true to yourself man.

Christian, I find it hard to believe that you don't know anything about Eddie, but seems to me that you went out of your way to research his backgrounds and credentials in depth, yet overlooked his childhood experiences with hip hop and what made him the way he is today... selective filtering going on here? Btw I'm not saying Eddie is right or you shouldn't criticize him, everyone is entitled to his own opinions. It just seems to me that you have your agenda against Eddie.

You gotta admit that after experiencing London, its definitely one of the most racist places in the world. And Australia is the very worse. See how easy ol' dude went toward race with the Hawaii comment? He's not a representative of all England, but that was serious. It always amazes me that I meet so many people from England that say that England is not a racist place. This is one of the main reason I deem it one of the most racist places because they deny it so often
