Well yes and no. In order for them to form an island there must be a system controller that isolates the backed-up circuits and iq8's from the grid. The system controller also has a transformer to get 120/240 split phase output since the inverters are straight 240v. Thanks for the kind words! Bit of a dry video this one was :).

However in looking it appears all of the meters compatible are either single phase or three phase. No split phase/2 phase! Wonder if one can use two single phase meters to achieve zero export. Ugh.

I am still looking for a grid tie inverter with zero export feature, but there are always obstacles . 1. solark - very expensive 2. Megarov- software issues 3. Victron using ESS feature - complicated 4. Solar edge - need additional modbus 5.SMA- mod buss issues 6. Sun GTIL - can't find the right size ct clamp for 150a service, unit not ul listed. 😢😢

From what I understand an Enphase setup with "IEEE 1547 default 2015, No Export" grid profile will do zero export. Just need an Envoy IQ or Enphase combiner with CT's going to the main electrical panel. I haven't tried it myself but everything I read says it does what we want it to do. Only use solar enough to zero out the meter but not back feed the grid. Might be a pretty cost effective way to get into a small zero export setup. I also threw a question into the Huawei forum to see if anyone knew how to do it in the US on split phase.

And then there’s that! I suspect it mimics Solar edge in that way.
