I purchased the 2021 version with 1TB. It works well with linux too and can look like a macbook with ubuntu or zorin os. (It takes a bit of effort to select the right kernel.) You can dual boot with windows.

Just wanted to get your attention regarding the upcoming (well, they've released in super limited quantities) Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and Legion 7 with Ryzen7/9+RTX3070/3080 with QHD+ display... a LOT of people are trying to get their hands on these laptops and I think you'd get a whole lot of views/PR if you'd be able to get your hands on this elusive unicorn of a laptop. Your reviews are so great and inline with most typical customers and regular people. I think it just released in China and since, if I'm not mistaken, you're in Hong Kong and probably have some contacts, you should definitively think about reviewing the Legion 5 Pro and/or Legion 7!

Huawei is a really customer friendly company (at least here where I live). A few days ago I got a great OS/skin update for my 2,5 years old Mate 20 pro. Phone still works great and updates have been nice and frequent. After 411 full battery cycles (827 changing sessions) the battery has degraded only 9,0% 😃.

I have the 8th-gen and the AMD 2020 R7 and they are great laptops. They are ultrabooks so expectations should be set within those confines. However, it is slick and the keyboard, trackpad and display are top-notch. A great alternative to the boring choice of the XPS 13, which is now a bit too small for me. I still think the AMD versions are better value, as they offer extra performance with a good saving.

I have the 2020 and maxed it out (also in green) and love it. Due to the embargoes I had to order it from ebay though. The first one I bought I was able to get that the microsoft store.

I have the 11th generation (2021), it's a cool machine. Fast charging, high resolution, I don't care about camera position bcz not too much use of it, but it can give you more privacy if scammer get access to your camera somehow. Most importantly economical and no issue of software installation.

I bought the 2020 version. But like always, I went back to a Macbook because of their trackpad... They're unrivaled, and just like for you, they're an essential work tool to me. With the new 14' MB hopefully coming this year, it's going to be even harder for other brands to compete. Even the price difference has become quite insignificant over the years, if you go for a Macbook Air.

The original 2018 model was a revolution and mess at the same time with engineering flaws (trackpad, emi emissions on audio port, heat pipe not connected to fan) all over the place but it had the best display available in any laptop (still has IMO) and the narrow brezels still look amazing today. The 2021 model with completely revamped cooling is probably the biggest jump since 2018, the webcam placement didn't age well due to Covid 19 but I've rarely ever used mine and thus prefer the hidden placement.

I really like a lot the design of the Huawei Matebook X Pro which is excellent, but I wish for a few more innovative improvements maybe for a Matebook X Ultra: 1. 1080p/60fps webcam on top of the display 2. 3D biometric « FaceID » camera on top of the display is more convenient than « TouchID » biometric power button, and therefore would be much better. Or getting both. 3. OLED LTPO touchscreen display for always-on 1Hz functionality (showing date, time, emails,...). 4. Fanless design to completely silent laptop 5. 512GB or more bootable Persistent Memory (PM) like RRAM, Optane memory,... on the memory bus to significantly lower latency (significantly lower boot time (below 5s)),...). 6. 5G SIM/e-SIM slot 7. At least 12+ hours battery life in intensive usage

Love my matebookx pro 2019 so sleek. If you need a web cam like me, just buy a logitech simple as that you prob wouldn't want to use any base web cam if you are looking for nice face time or online teaching footage anyway

I own 8th gen i5 X Pro and the new 11th gen i7 X Pro. It's all great but they ruined the keyboard. It used to be more clicky, now it's softer and doesn't make any sounds. I actually ordered the older keyboard from China and will attempt fitting it in the new laptop. They look identical but feel differently. It's not going to be easy because it will require removing the motherboard and everything else.

Actually this veraion gets hot that you can stand it for a long time in your legs or lap. Also this 2021 veraion the battery is very weak. But compare it to 2024 matebook x pro now that was a good battery life now.

I can confirm huawei laptops are not good for work. We used to have them but had to switch to lenovo. 1. The web cam. You cannot have calls with clients. The angle looks really unprofessional And what's even worse: you cannot make notes, since your greasy fingers will cover the entire camera. This close up of your fingers is disgusting and a very bad experience for clients. 2. You cannot encrypt most of the Huawei laptops. I work for a company where data security is very important and huawei was unable to provide us with an encryption solution.
