✅ THIS TOOL WILL REMOVE ANY STUCK MODERN DAY BOLT-IN WHEEL BEARING/HUB ASSEMBLY, FRONT OR REAR. It will make short work of stubborn wheel bearings that won't separate from the knuckle. Subaru rear bearings are crazy hard to remove with out this tool. Now I give a bearing a few hard strikes with a hammer. If it doesn't budge, I just attach the Hub Shocker! This tool makes bearing removal so easy! The tool is Universal and there are several companies that make it. You can even make you own. It is for bolt-style hub and wheel bearing style assemblies only. Most modern vehicles now use these exclusively.

2.0 Video SOLVES tool mounting problems and bearing separation problems!!!---- kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7GhjNd-ydK0iaM.html ---I USE Grade-8 Bolts for mounting now, and a Cv-Axle TRICK to keep the bearing in one piece during removal or even pull the bearing back together if it separated during the removal process. I use a 8lb sledge only on the tool now. Stubborn bearings always need backup options to remove. My Favorite is the HubShocker by far. I love this thing! Another option is this NEW CHEAP $29 ASTRO TOOLS "LAST CHANCE" WHEEL BEARING REMOVAL KIT is great to supplement the Hub Shocker. I keep both in my box ready to go at all times so I never need to replace a suspension knuckle. It uses a different method to apply pressure. As a suggestion on the axle nuts if changing both sides. I just switch the nuts to opposite side. And for me if one side goes out I just replace both sides, but that's just me. I used the same tool on the rear of my Subaru forester, attached it snugly with OEM lug nuts, hammered it with all of my might with a 4lb hammer over 200 times and it didn't budge. My feeling is if this guy can remove his hub with a couple of taps from a ball peen hammer that he probably could have gotten it off some other way anyhow. This obviously works for some people but it is no magic solution to this age-old problem.

I made a second video that solves all the problems I had with the tool. 1. I use 8lb sledge now. 2. I mount them with grade 8 bolts to secure. 3. I have a cv axle nut trick to keep the bearing in one piece if it starts to separate. You can even use it to pull it back together during the process. Sorry you had trouble. It isn't so much the tool that is the problem. It is Subaru's INSANE bearings. They stick beyond anything I have seen. If that came off so easy, it wasn't stuck there good enough. Most bearings wont come off with anything! You can try removal tool, prying screws, lump hammer, chisels, anything, and they wont come off. The only thing that helps is to take off the whole assembly and put it under a heavy press.
@EasyFixShaun
@EasyFixShaun Жыл бұрын
I feel ya. I still love the the tool though. My attempt is always use the easy methods and progress to the more intrusive ones. Removing the knuckle and pressing "bolt-in" style bearings will work- i completely agree. It is also the most intrusive method and requires an alignment afterwards. This wasn't the worst removal in the video. But it was difficult. Subaru rear bearings are amongst the the most difficult models to remove. The explorer rears are probably the worst. The Hubshocker 2.0 video i made was a good demonstration on a massively stuck bearing if you want to see it. I do recommend it over this video. I also solved two issues with the tool 😀🔧

Slide hammer is a great method. It's the old method for me now on stuck bearings. The slide hammer usually splits the bearing into two pieces. Then I have to try to air hammer and twist the stuck portion in the knuckle to free it. Sometimes its easy and sometimes it's not, but it does work no doubt. Whatever works best for you will always be best for sure! 😃🔧🔧

The axle is just along for the ride, it should be fine - but it's probably not ideal for the integrity of the knuckle, the centering ring of which will be spread violently by the use of this tool.
@EasyFixShaun
@EasyFixShaun 3 жыл бұрын
@@davidkuehne476 The tool sends a shock to through the bearing and breaks the weakest link. The weakest link is the rust bond holding the bearing in the knuckle.. I have inspected all knuckles after bearing removal and have found no problems. The good news also is that the knuckle is stronger than the rust bond and the bearing. So it seems brutal, but for severely stuck wheel bearings it works quite well. Check out the hub shocker 2.0 video and let me know what you think?!? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7GhjNd-ydK0iaM.html

Thanks man. I couldn't agree more! They are making everything so cheap. I think its planned obsolescence in some cases. Usually Japanese auto makers try to avoid that and use high quality parts. Bearings and steering and suspension components (other than shocks) should be make well enough to last the life of the vehicle. They can do it. They choose not to. 🤓🔧

Your title is a little off I have found a few front bearings on 2500 and 3500 trucks the hub shocker I've had for years failed to remove. It's the best tool by far for removal. The only tool that gets EVERTHING off is a torch. The 1/4" plate on the top of mine is about beat to 1/8" in places. But still performs way better than any other bearing tool I have found.
@EasyFixShaun

Sorry about that. It is a tool of last resort at times. With a lot of corroded bearings it has been a life saver for me. There are some bearings it can not handle and heavy duty trucks are some and I have heard it will not remove the rear of a new explorer generation. I haven't had the chance to try the explorer. On heavy duty I usually use the hydraulic power steering and socket combo method to push on the mount bolts. I agree, the torch removes all wheel bearings! haha. Can create some other issues sometimes but is the ultimate remove "ANY" wheel bearing tool 🔧😃

This fellow says the CV axle is what holds the 2 halves of the wheel bearing together. I just replaced a rear wheel bearing on a ford explorer and the cv axle does NOT hold the bearing halves together. The CV axle splines and the wheel hub splines are tapered slightly such that the hub nut tightens them when the nut is tightened. However, the hub is only pressed into the inner bearing halves. I bought a cheap bearing and hub and the inner race rear half separated. I purchased an expensive bearing and no more problems.
@EasyFixShaun
@EasyFixShaun 3 жыл бұрын
The CV shaft has three jobs. Transmit power to the wheels. Transmit power while allowing suspension and steering movement. Hold the bearing together as a failsafe. That is how it works. There are some bearings that do not use a cv axle to hold everything together on some FWD and RWD vehicles. Those bearings are built differently to make ensure the bearing doesn't come apart. I am glad you got your ride working with some good parts 😃

Could help in a slide hammer situation?? 🧐 Hubshocker 2.0 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7GhjNd-ydK0iaM.html

@@EasyFixShaun I've not had a bearing separate on me yet. I've only done around 6-8 of them. It's also my stuck brake drum remover. I suppose thru bolting would work. The slide hammer pipe is 3/4" might have to reduce it down to fit thru the inner part of the bearing. The slide hammer kits offer a lot of attachments or make your own. Just had to thread on the pipe. I'll check out the video. Thanks for sharing.

The slide hammers are very handy. I use mine a lot too. 😀

I use an old rotor and I put it on backwards and put nuts on. Gives you more leverage to hammer the bearing off. Just a tip if anyone has one lying around.

Hit, then half a turn, then hit again, repeat. You don't just hit the tool on the same side. That's why there two metal padding on the shaft.

Good call. I could be rotated around easily and striking on both pads would be a great idea. 😃🔧

That tool works great on Chevy trucks fornt hubs and the infamous rear hubs on newer explorers. Some heat requiered tho on explorers

Still need heat on the rear of an explorer? Dang! Its a really great tool! I can't wait to use mine. Especially knowing how hard some bearings can be. Such a big help. Thanks for the comment!!

@@EasyFixShaun yup that thru bolt trick is what I've done. if only I can send you a picture of my hub shocker. She is whooped so bad it cracked. I'm actually thinking of buying the tommy prokit wheel puller for those explorer /Taurus rear bearings .

Awsome man. Ya mine is working great still and I have used it on several fords also. Where is the crack? Maybe weld another plate to it? Or several plates? It’s probably made of Chinese metal. I hope mine doesn’t crack. I use it a lot. I’m sure it will eventually....

@@EasyFixShaun chinesesuim metal it probably was. A clean crack from upper striking pad to the other. I have a old hitch I'ma cut and make it a shocker 2.0. soon. Of course the warranty is only one yr I've had it for close to 2yrs.

Torque the axle nut. Pop the center cap on the wheel out. Drive around the block. Retorque axle nut to ensure it was seated. Indent the nut to lock in place Pop wheel cap back on

@@EasyFixShaun No, it's the way it should be reattached once finished to ensure the axle doesn't loosen off
@EasyFixShaun
@EasyFixShaun 3 жыл бұрын
@@Driver0808657 Oh I see what you mean. The torque spec is enough pressure to make sure the bearing is seated in the knuckle, The hub is seated in the bearing, and enough to make sure the nut does not back off. Staking the nut is a failsafe and should slow down the nut if it were to spin. The torque spec of the axle nut once applied will do all of the things you mentioned in one step. Driving around to seat a bearing is not a common or recommended method right now.

I own one of these through Matco. After a year, I just found it easier to go back to using an air hammer to get them out. Less effort and less tennis elbow. I live in a rust state though so maybe they work better in the southern states.
@EasyFixShaun
@EasyFixShaun 3 жыл бұрын
Right on. I live in Michigan and it is very rusty also. There are a quite a few vehicles that are always a problem and I just grab this tool immediately. On others I use a hammer to remove like a typical bearing until I find out it is severely stuck, then I use the tool. I through bolt all vehicles now with grade 8 bolts. And I have discovered a cv axle nut trick to keep the bearing in one piece. Both of those things make a huge difference in popping the bearings out for me. Here is the video if it helps! 🔧🔧kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m7GhjNd-ydK0iaM.html
