In our final episode in Japan, the DIRT team went road-tripping through beautiful, snowy Japanese landscapes-and tasting everything in sight. A crown jewel in the northeast corner of Japan, Hokkaido may be famous among skiers and snowboarders for the luscious "Japow," but way beyond the tourist trail there's a burgeoning new food scene and a unique and vibrant history. Though, if we're honest, Josh probably could've spent the whole trip carving up the mountain and been a happy camper.

Saying "modern civilization finally made its way up from mainland Japan" right after talking about the Ainu people is no different from saying "modern civilization finally arrived in the Americas from Europe". It's a huge gloss over the colonization history of Hokkaido by Imperial Japan in the 19th Century, during which Ainu people were dispossessed from their land and captured to work in forced labour mines. It would've been okay if you were simply ignorant and left the Ainus out like other average foreign travel vloggers; instead you decided to bring up the subject for your entertainment content without any research or respect in a very frivolous and distasteful manner.

Just finding this channel. Amazing photography and so much better than 99% of creators who waste your time talking at the camera trying to build a personal brand. Instead this channel shows amazing landscapes and focuses on telling the stories of amazing craftsmen and restauranteurs. I love it. Dare I say this show gives me the same vibes when I first started watching Bourdain in my youth. Amazing show.

@@tominotopia Its also a direct rip off of Anthony Bourdain. All the way down to the monotone voice and writing. This is style theft in the most blatant sense. But people don't like truth about the things they like.

@@Mutiny960always got to be one hater. The man is making great engaging videos and it’s not about him. Most importantly it’s about the culture he’s experiencing, learning about and embracing. Bourdain was a legend and did this brilliantly. Style theft though? Come on man. If that were true they’d literally be no food-related videos on KZfaq what a stupid comment. Only good vibes in this video, more than you can say about your comment.

@@dmitryivantsov892 Actual Magic composes some tracks completely from scratch for each DIRT episode, so that is probably one of them! Unfortunately this episode might be the only place you’ll hear/find it, since they are hand-made by the group for DIRT.
