It may be counter productive to shoot for a rating. Just aim to play your best and win. The rating will take care of itself.

I don't think so. It's good to have goals. People just forget sometimes that it's okay not to hit your goals; they are just targets.

@@chukwuebukaekenedili224 Honestly blew my mind as I was watching someone plan their year and hearing "I don't really care if I end up not completing one of these goals." Having goals give you direction and ambition. You will work harder and smarter given a time restraint with a challenging goal. If you fail, you've made a lot of progress or you've learned something! You can always adjust your goals, try again, or move on to something new. :)

I am really thrilled about this. I am new to pursuing chess since summer 2023 and perhaps unlike many of the new chess players, I am far more interested in classical over-the-board chess than online chess with faster time controls.
