@@BadAshOutdoors aha thanks for specifying.. makes a big difference for how to cook them.. but that's a very long and profound story haha (anything to do with eating is very serious with me) I'm an ocean kayak salmon angler from Vancouver.. I was just meditating last few months on how to manage to come salmon hunting with you guys in the Olympic Peninsula, but now are we going to have to drive all the way down to California to hope for that opportunity? :(

Hi Ash, my name is Gabe, and I just came across your awesome video!!! I noticed that you guys were fishing down at ten mile beach out of Bodega, as I'm watching I see my Striper in the back ground, my wife & I were out that day too, and what an awesome day it was!!! I recall hearing you guys as we were going by, and I have seen that boat before with the Dragonfly on it!! I am so glad you guys had a great trip!! I believe that was around the end of October just before the season closes, anyways I'm so glad to have come across your channel, thanks again for the great video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I lived my first 23 years in Northern California. My father took me out salmon fishing at Bodega Bay and most times we did well. California salmon have a different taste than the Washington fish. Personally I believe the California salmon taste better. Enjoy Ashley, glad to see you having so much fun!

Great day of fishing. I have seen Kings jump like that on Lake Michigan. But they are not nearly as acrobatic as the steelie's are. Got some good eating for the future. Congratulations on a successful day of fishing

What a great bunch of people to fish with! I couldn't stop smiling while watching. Maybe our salmon in PNW aren't as excitable as the ones in California. :). Those are beautiful kings, broad-bodies and built like spark plugs! I will challenge you to go back to a center-pin reel setup next time you go trolling (especially with downriggers) !!! Thanks! This video made my day!

@@BadAshOutdoors Like I said, I challenge you to a center-pin setup duel. When I troll or mooche in Puget Sound or in the Straits this summer, I will dust off my grandpa's old center-pin setup and use it if you do the same in California. Although I'm not even sure if they will let us fish for salmon in the Sound at all this year.... :( Virtually nothing open in our old stomping grounds now... :(

You saw our only trip in the ocean (BANGER of a day) and my only trip on a river so far, i caught one too, so it seems that there ARE fish in California! Cant say much more than that though. Very mush looking forward to exploring more this year!

Nothing like saltwater kings. I've had a guide friend on the Deshka river in AK had a king jump and land on top the outboard engine and sit there for 1.5 seconds and jump back into the river 😂. Kings have a very noticeable smell, kind of like skunk. Halibut have a sweet smell. Time to get the cedar planks out 😋

(I don't want to give out the address) Our neighbor Webb and I were talking the other day, that is how I found you. I have been an avid fly fisher for decades. I have an old state record Cutbow hanging in my house from 1973. (Cutbow was a hybrid fish - cutthroat/rainbow mix) I love your videos. Be sure to wave or honk when you go by.
