How do you know? I didn’t see the article reference Leduc but still the same issues would apply to her reasons for regret
@Tony-og4oz
@Tony-og4oz Жыл бұрын
@@edmontonexpert yes, it was in a video of an interview she did. She moved to Leduc and complained about not having a Cactus club there. People online pointed that she should have moved to the city, to the core instead of moving to Leduc. The issue is she wanted to buy a house and live in the suburbs but still have that city vibe...that's not really what Leduc is. People pointed out that she should have done more research before moving...maybe she should have contacted you 🙂

@@Tony-og4oz Oh, that's interesting. She definitely needed a different realtor. Would she have felt the big city vibes in Edmonton core? Compared to Toronto I have heard its quite different, regardless, It would have definitely been better than Leduc for a city Vibe lol Thanks for the info. I did not see her video interview.

I lived there for 3 years. Met lots of wonderful, creative, energetic people and made some lifetime friends. It was actually quite a bit easier to meet people there than in the much larger city I came from. Edmonton has its own personality. Every city does. You have to give yourself time to get to know a place. A few months is nothing. One thing to keep in mind is that winter can be very long in Edmonton.

I mean, she could have likely bought a condo in the Stantec tower for a price similar to a townhouse in Leduc and had a fairly "big city" experience of literally being able to walk in HEATED PEDWAYS to the arena, at least a dozen different bars and restaurants and even a snazzy new Loblaws City Market. She wouldn't have even needed a car.... Or for even LESS money she could have bought a condo in Oliver and been a five minute walk to Downtown, a five minute walk to the largest urban park system in North America and a five SECOND walk to her precious fucking Cactus Club, as well as Local Pub and a few other chain style "upscale" joints that she seems to like so much. Toronto, stop sending us your idiots.

As a IT consultant. I have been living in edmonton for 20 years, was in Vancouver and Detriot. I agreed with one point, the economy is not diversified, most are gov and oil related jobs, not much new IT traning here. But I did not get rest points, like share room price is close to single unit, tranportation is bad etc. Why you rent a shared room if price is close to single unit? Why you could not drive car if city is not that big. Most important, Alberta has best education, which you have to get similar ones in private school of Vancouver. Come if you like to raise a family

The only thing I don't like about Edmonton is that Edmonton is very spread out and between neighborhoods and areas is nothing except highways lol very wired build and developt as city !!!!! other then this it all depends what is more important over other things for every person . I lived in both and yes Toronto is great but most people do not have time to use the city because they work all the time unless you have 9 to 5 job with very good pay check so you don't need to work 2 or 3 jobs otherwise you really don't have much times to explore the city , 80% of people in Toronto do just 1 thing and its work lol

we also moved to Edmonton March 2023. we are definitely saving a lot of money and that was our main goal. She got nursing job easily. I work online. we bought a 2 bedroom condo and we had similar condo back in Toronto obviously not exactly same. Unfortunately, we have an asshole living upstairs which has very little to do with Edmonton. I went to talk to him one day which was several months after we moving in. I hear heavy foot steps, vacuuming 2 in the morning. That douchebag when confronted, he said "you are glad I am not vacuuming everyday", he meant 2 in the morning. I was dumb founded, don't know what to say. I said something along line of courtesy. I am just flabbergasted how mean a person can be. we don't know him and he don't know us, we never have talked to each other than that conversion. we don't see him cos his entrance is from the other side. my other neighbours are very good. we saying he must be going through some hardships. I truly believe that those who share trouble only mean one thing because they are full of it. unfortunately we have to move out, probably i will never buy a condo with people living upstairs, or buy that that is concrete built.

It's hard to find good quality rentals in Edmonton. Rentals are overpriced. Yes, you pay more rent in Toronto, but you have lots of choices. In Edmonton, you don't have many choices. I prefer townhomes over an apartment. There's a huge shortage of townhome rentals. Most rental townhomes have bedrooms in the basement. Most rentals don't have AC as an option despite the fact that it's pretty hot here from June to August. Drivers are overall better here. There are lots of Ahole drivers in YEG, but not as much as Toronto. I don't see aggressive street racing stunts here as much as I have seen in Toronto. There are pros and cons of each city. I absolutely wouldn't live in Leduc, Spruce Grove, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, North East, or Downtown Edmonton. Mississauga is overall much better than Calgary and Edmonton. That's probably why it's overpopulated and houses are expensive there.

Edmonton is more like a small town than city, but lots places to go out just depends what you like. But probably has one of the worst bus services in Canada, here you get drivers licence as soon as can a car or cab to places. And always has been that way since I was young. Only some better transit coming up and done is about all. Id say besides West Edmonton mall tourism is ok at best. Jasper and Banf would be bigger draws. Then again I lived Toronto for 1 year tad more and did not like it either. Parked the car cause not growing up there traffic is crap. Really did not know my way around enough Toronto to more bypass and take better routes. Public transit was great. Rent and housing better Edmonton but if nothing your field that would not help much. $900 for room wow she must had mansion, as housing cost less here. And if she quickly scanned rental markets she would know that. Oh well Toronto not for me and all, and Edmonton not for all either as we all different.

Edmonton feels like a small town prairie vibe. Downton Vancouver versus downtown Edmonton. No comparison. One is a global tourist hub and one of the most scenic places in the world, the other is a crime ridden barren industrial wasteland on a weekend evening. Public transportation in Edmonton is terrible, also correct. Job situation in Edmonton is also terrible. Government jobs in Vancouver area are about 5x what you find in Edmonton and the same goes for the many big tech jobs that don’t exist in Edmonton. Oil and gas, some academic, medical, and industrial is why people go to Edmonton. Some students also go there. 1700 a month, can come to Vancouver for 1800-2000. Investment properties in Edmonton? Definitely not. Condo prices in Edmonton are flat or down for last many years.

Kinda funny. I've moved around alot. It takes more than 3 months to get to know a city and it always kinda sucks compared to "home" until you are a year or so in. I lived in Toronto 5 years. I hated it at first and massively disliked it when I left. I dont know why anyone would want anywhere to be more Toronto. And I like cities. But Toronto is a dirty, worn out, poorly planned mess. In fact, it looks alot like Edmonton but dirtier and busier. Edmonton at least planned the Henday somewhat well to make movement better. Toronto's highways are the worst I've ever seen. This includes LA. I can see prefering Vancouver for the natural beauty but Toronto? Nah, dont see it.

I moved from Winnipeg to Edmonton in 2000. Edmonton is boring, it is a giant middle class suburbs. Edmonton has no culture. People who live here think the have culture. It is water down bland crap. Also, you need to be as boring middle class as possible to go to a bar. And you can get kicked out for the most insignificant things. Sometimes a permanent bane.
