Just a thought given Dragusin's stunning form for Romania at the Euros. How about a back 5 with Cuti in the middle and Radu on the right with VdV sweeping up? This would allow Cuti to move forward and help out the DM as well as push further forward on occasion, which we know he loves to do anyway. Our FBs can still push forward as dictates our system but with lower risk at the back. With better forwards it just might help us achieve that 30 goal swing we so badly need.

Seems to me Ange would never default to a back 5. He'd still probably see it as less attacking when push comes to shove. What I would be curious about is actually playing Romero as the holding mid sitting in front of Radu and VdW (and the rest of the defense) in a 4-3-3. While we're at it, I'd love to see Maddison AND Eze play together as the other CMs.

@@michaeldavidszekely2392 The Romero at DM scenario had crossed my mind, but I doubt he himself would go for it. As for the back 5, there's no need for it to be the default set-up. He can experiment with it in the Carabao Cup and, if it works, use it when he thinks it merits consideration according to the opposition.

@N17Stu Richie was 50 with 10 million in add ons. And Levy got burned with Ndombele so I doubt we will again. Maybe if the player was VERY marketable

Hi Barnaby! Great update dude! Jared would be cool & maybe Ivan Toney although carrying baggage! What about calafiori...legite or not? Just a quick question about euros, why didn't Gareth take Rashford, grealish and maddison? In my view better players that would have made an impact for England! Anyway take care dude...keep up the great updates!

I do hope we get the Calafiori deal through, because we will have a ton of games, considering the new style of Europa league having 8 grp stage games and 3 domestic tournaments. I think 4 defenders will be necessary, so that Romero, Calafiori, Van de Ven and Dragusin will get enough game time. And if Ange wants any of the players we are truly proven to have a link with, then I am on board, he did improve players like Bissouma, Porro, even Richy and Werner have been scoring.

I don't think Calafiori will necessarily be short of game time if he joins. Given the number of games this coming season, Ange can give each of the top 3 centrebacks enough game time and it's likely that one will be out with injury for some games.

I'm thinking VDV is going to end up being the back up/rotation LB so then Dragusin and the new CB will get way more games.

He covers so many different positions, but will want to start and far too good for the bench. I wonder if he could play holding midfield, but give us cover at left back and left centre back. So many clubs will be after him. Some in Champions League no doubt.

TBH I’d rather we pay £60-65m for Braithwaite than £40-45m for Ramsey. I prefer Califiori of course.

Yes Barnaby, def need a reserve keeper who is capable of playing Ange’s system. Fraser Foster et al not up for it. €25m is a fair price.

I'd take Hincapie even before Calafiori. Hincapie forced the first ever golazo I've ever seen on what was ruled an own goal vs Jamaica last night. Beyond that he has been a key cog in Leverkusen's rise. Saw him talking to Mikel Antonio alot in the match so he speaks good English and maybe has an eye on the PL?
