Forced labor and other rights abuses are widespread in Thailand’s fishing fleets despite government and industry commitments to comprehensive reforms.
The xx-page report, Hidden Chains: Forced Labor and Rights Abuses in Thailand’s Fishing Industry, describes how migrant fishermen from neighboring countries in Southeast Asia are often trafficked into fishing work, prevented from changing employers, not paid on time and paid below the minimum wage. Migrant workers do not receive Thai labor law protections and do not have the right to form a labor union.

I salute u sir..my family business is also fishing vessels but we never treat badly our workers..we treat our workers equally with correct salaries every month.

now i'm not seeing seafood the same anymore especially Thai seafood, i'll have to ask them about its source first.

My worker's hubby is a fisherman whom can go for months fishing on one of these boats. He is an Indonesians, and seems to get a lot more than just 10k Bath/month + he doesn't touch his money when he is on board. Being on boat for many years, working in land driving him mad. It's time for his wife to send him away again 😉
