Need to write a new story, based on the accidental discovery of the Ether Drive while trying to develop warp drive technology. Ether drive shifts a ship into a dimension where time and distance are irrelevent. A trip to Alpha Centauri would take only a minute or two, as an example. Let your imagination continue with that start. No alien civilization has ever discovered Ether drive...you may continue...wink

Try the Lensman book series by E. E. "Doc" Smith. Antimatter bombs, bomb pumped lasers, corrosive bombs, and inertialess drive. So much enjoyment.

The observable universe is 93 billion lightyears across. They went to the edges of that in a non ftl capable ship... the closest star to us is 4.24 light years. At sub light it'd take longer than 4.24 years to reach. And they had 6 months of antimatter.... does a human even bother to proofread these for logical consistency?

Don't forget that they just happened to 'bump into' derelict ships on their way, and didn't even bother to board them, examine them, or even go for the gold and see if their computers could be booted up and downloaded. What a amazing story of exploration!! N O T!
