“At 26, I wanted to end my life! Life took a sudden turn when I broke up with my then-partner… a few weeks later, I missed my period. So I took a pregnancy test-it was positive. I freaked out! I contemplated aborting my baby, and that’s what my ex pushed me to do, too. But when my sister and I went for my ultrasound, I heard my baby’s heartbeat for the first time. That moment changed everything. In two minds, I asked the Universe to give me a sign. And you won’t believe what happened next...”
As a pregnant 26-year-old who had just broken up with her then-partner and was on drugs, Anmol Chaudhary was faced with an impossible choice; but she chose the tough one - to have her baby out of wedlock. She lived a life fraught with challenges, but never once did she back down. Today, her child is her whole world…
From running away from her home at 14 and facing the horrors that come with it to becoming a single mother at the age of 27, Anmol’s journey has been anything but conventional.
In this episode, we spoke to her about her journey, battling with suicidal thoughts, what kept her strong throughout her pregnancy, and what it is like to be a single mother with a child out of wedlock in India. Join us as we take you through Anmol’s journey-a tale of a mother’s love, courage, and resilience.

About Humans of Bombay -
Humans of Bombay is a movement that started 9 years ago. We believe that every person has a story to tell and we want to help them tell these stories. In these years we’ve published stories across genres - stories of love, hope, faith, and courage. And through our storytelling, we’ve built an engaged community of over 5M!
Our idea is simple - to strike a chord with our community and catalogue the beat of humanity, one story at a time.

PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Apart from these things please talk about female foeticide. Which is still happening as before. But people don't care. See the sex ratio at birth in 2011. In recent video of achrya prasant titled "Hindu ladki gayeb". He explained with data provided by govt that it is not rural phenomena and have no connection with being educated. Urban middle class having one or two children have the lowest sex ratio as per census. And NO it is not pbm of haryana only bihar,up, Rajasthan and many others are there too. 952 women per 1000 male are the LEAST possible natural sexratio( nature makes lesser women by default, this is the least)o. And many states fall far far below that line, surprisingly all of those state people are self proclaimed " Sanskari bhartiya Kattar" Muslm and Hindu. Astonishingly Their sex ratio is quite low. And no body points it out. It can be easily calculated by any lay man by seeing govt data that at least 1crore female foeticide and infanticide happened in last 20 yrs. And those states who have less population of female they start trafficking females from other states which didn't kill daughters. Now people are so ignorant in this issue. We are sitting in time bomb, having our sanskari hands soaked in blood of our daughters. These issues are real unsolved issues. Please focus on it. Thanks to achrya prasant to shed some light on it.

I dont think this woman should be portrayed as a role model. She led a rebellious life, got pregnant. Ofcourse we should not stigmatise but there is nothing to be proud of what she did either.

6:05 that story was amazing... You are really strong and resilient! ❤ More power to you! ❤ I am just relieved that the ex did not do any physical harm to you! 🧿 18:13 That crowdfunding story just restores our faith in humanity and goodness in people. ❤ Abortion is a women's prerogative and women should not abuse this right. I am happy that in India single motherhood is getting accepted. Not everyone is made for marriage but that doesn't mean that they should not become parents.

It’s not about being single or married. Parenting comes with so many responsibilities that it’s better to be financially independent before shouldering the responsibilities of another life. My husband and I waited for 7 years before we knew we could afford a kid, working our a$@s off in the meantime. But i understand that life happens. I hope she sails through this.

Love stories can sometimes lead us in a sadness so profound. I lived such a story in the past. It destroyed my life. This lady went to the verge of dying because of a bad love story. I admire her courage, of having able to build her llife back. Specially in a country where women who are alone with their child, are not accepted by all the people.

Her life is full of mistakes. Or even mistake is a wrong word .. she is a bad human who dont understand the pain of parents (living in her own world of drugs and alcohol )and how it could be inspiring ....this should be the story one should not opt for....being a single mom is something different..I hv huge respect for those ladies ...they are basically geninue ...even pre marital sex is not wrong.... People should understand what is wrong is her way of seeing things ...parents k sang galat...then wrong friendships ..then drugs alcohol.....how can somebody justify drugs alcohol misbehaviour with parents...just for the sake that ..I have the choice.. You had the choice because your parents brought you in this life...and what you did.....God...aise bachhe kisi ko na de... These people are shown on teenage programs like spiltsvilla n all...these set wrong examples to millions of young generation.. I feel pity

Hi Anmol spending 34 mins on this youtube video was worth to watch I am so proud you, you are truly super women taking this big step by choosing to keep your baby and handling him all alone is not that easy for sure and A, seeing your partner giving up on you after knowing this and B, seeing him acting normal and living normal life is totally terrifying But you are such a bold women I must say and I have this suggestion that when your son will get old enough to understand what you have been through make sure you tell him everything so he’ll get to know what path he should follow, path of being like his strong mother or path of being like his coward father who was not strong enough to own his child up. Having sex is not an issue but I feel having sex with the right person who can stand with you is very important. Sending you so much strength and power Anmol.

@maverickmaven7168 nobody has a dream to make wrong choices and suffer...not everybody has a very favourable environment around them to help them differentiate between them...some people have toxic families, some have toxic parents, some have completely ignoring parents and some have overly pressurising parents which leads to frustration and confusion in life...sometimes you are fade up of being judged and criticized from very childhood and you get psychologically affected...we can appreciate that she is in right path now, she didn't killed her baby and committed suicide...she inspired that people can still change their bad habits and come back to normal life again...let's not degrade them...let's be sensitive...not everyone gets a proper guidance from very age

I ham very happy it worked out for her, but for many it won't & they might not have her luck so don't advertise this as something very normal... the message should rather go out as not to get into this situation by being vulnerable. I fully support being a single parent but please don't have unsafe sex for pleasure that can result into something you might not handle... babies should be borne when one is ready and wants it but not in a situation where baby's very own existence is questioned. Anyway I am very happy for her, have a blessed life ahead!

She is a strong woman no doubt about it but it was her choise to raise a baby alone so she should not name or shame the father of a child. Sex is a mutual decision & so is having a child. I might be wrong, sorry for that but I think girls who wish to have & raise a child out of unplanned pregnancy, somehow want their partner to come back and take care of them. They have a soft corner for their partner & hope that the partner might return after having a child. Having a child is responsiblilty of both parents not one. If one says yes & other says no then there is no point in having a child just to prove to the world that I am strong, self independent & super mom. Why not to adopt a child then?
@dosa83

A grown up man should be man enough to accept if the women choose to keep the child . If it was your act , and it's not your body , then you should be man enough to face the consequences of your actions than running away like a coward and letting the girl suffer alone Sex is a mutual decision, but what a girl should do with her body is not a mutual decision. It's her body . A man has no say in if she should abort or have a child . A real man who is man enough will stand by her and support her no matter what decision she takes regarding her body . If you don't have enough b a l l s to stand up for your girl and pay child support or get married to her , don't get laid with her . Period

@@dosa83 Yes... But these days most people are in casual relationships. Had they been couples who decide to date & then marry that's a different tale then. Today's generation is more into hook up, ONS, flings, live-in, experimenting & enjoying and then blaming the patner throughout by portraying themselves as victims. No, i don't agree to this. Never!

All the comments of her being an inspiration and what not come across as foolish. This girl had a nice life going on, but for a petty reason she chose to leave her house and live a difficult life. People also fail to understand that she was not in the right mindset when she found out that she was pregnant because she had tried to kill herself just a few weeks before she found out. Also, just because you are the one carrying the child doesn’t mean you ask the guy to just fuck off, you didn’t make the baby on your own. How inconsiderate and selfish! Please don’t share stories of such idiots HoB.

I feel for the 3 year old child, I really hope he gets everything in life 😊My thoughts in general will be not to make children just because it will give one a reason to live or it will improve relations with the ex i.e. they will consider you brave, sympathise and start loving you again. A CHILD means so much responsibility towards them and the world we live in. But ofcourse I understand Anmol's unconventional story, I pray things turn better and best for her and especially for her little one. We have one life and we are entitled to live it the way we want, you are too good Anmol the way you narrated everything here and ofcourse how you faced everything in life.

There is nothing inspirational about this ! It's as good as two random people ranting about their life. Making identity out of the process, which happens so naturally to so many people just shows how underachieved oneself is in life. I feel really pitty for such kind of people that some bad things happened in life is their only identity.
