My in-laws did the exact same thing, they first came to our place to take care of my pregnant wife. First, they were very jealous of our love, and whenever me and my wife spent happy moments, they were getting irritated, somehow they managed to create some tension between me and my wife. They behaved very weirdly with me, ignored my existence, they were eating and gossiping themselves all the time, then said bad things about my parents and family. Her father even fought with our maid. Since, the nature of my work demands mental focus and awareness, so i couldnt tolerate all this. I asked my wife to go along with her parents. I asked her also to go back with her parents otherwise her parents would feel bad i thought. And also their neighbors and relatives would question why they came back without their daughter. Now after the birth of our child, when i visited their place they again said bad things about me, my parents, said i am the worst son-in-law in their whole family, called me an animal, etc. and they would again visit our place after the visit, not for me but for their grandchild and their daughter. Thus, i was forced me to leave their place. Now, in the whole series of events, my wife thinks i am responsible for this. She would say i dont respect her parents, she would always take their side. And, now she is forcing me for divorce. === Why her parents did this ? I prefer to stay alone without anyone's interference. Even my parents understands this, and never visited our place, as we are in the first year of marriage, after four years of courtship. When we got jobs in new city, my inlaws very excited to come with us in disguise to help us find a place to stay, etc etc. To which i politely said no, we can manage our things. Because i have experience of living in multiple cities in India and abroad. But when wife became pregnant it was a perfect excuse. They are very miser and prefer to , also they are taking care of their ailing father, so i would be a perfect excuse to drop him at her sister's place. Also, me and my wife work in foreign MNCs, recently my wife got an on-site opportunity in USA for 6 months. These greedy people were always dreaming about living in foreign country, when i expressed my desire to work in abroad for few years to make some money, but they understood that they were wont be benefited from this. So as their daughter also started getting US onsite opportunities, they broke our relation so that they can enjoy their life on her money. They think that whatever their daughter is today its due to them, and she should acknowledge this all the time. But its not true, its due to her hard work, lot of parents do 1000 times more than what they did, still get no result.

In-laws and parents have lived in era where they get married early, Stay together and had only stress related to money. Male being earning member dominated the house. Now the time changed. Couple marry late, get less time together and work stress more. Female also earn. Parents don't understand these things that male female finances equality are not issues but as couple staying together is life. Hmari ladki aka ladka bhi barabar kamati hai, hamne iss kabil banaya hai" is just morally torturing your child. Even the world richest person need spouse and child to be happy.. Its their life let them live happily with their family.
