I think I've said this before, what if every 55 year old, male or female, had to redefine themselves and stretched their minds into something else, what could this country accomplish?

😍 You are funny (and clever). As I have mentioned before, I follow SV Delos (Brian, Karin, & Sierra) as she sails the world full time. I have watched Brian service, replace, and upgrade just about every working part on their boat. I know you model the accessibility to the operating systems based on your experience as a former boat owner and motor home owner. When circumnavigating the world by boat, or crisscrossing north America by van, you know from experience that “things” will break down and wear out. Your vans are definitely built with service, repair, and replace in mind. KUDOS

I installed an 18" 2 bike slide with 2 locking glides (like you have done). You only really need (I would have preferred) one locking glide and one unlocked glide. Makes it more of a one-handed operation and it still locks and holds just fine...

@wanderingzythophile9083 2 жыл бұрын
Trick is, they come in matched pairs. Now if you were doing two trays, could mix and match the slides...
@TerryManitoba
@TerryManitoba 2 жыл бұрын
@@wanderingzythophile9083 Yes - Since HR builds a lot of slides he could easily do the mix and match thing. I ended building another drawer slide with no roller glides - just wood on plastic strips to slide on - which works just fine. WRT the bicycle slide - If I were to do it again - I would use a locking glide on one side and just incorporate a plastic strip on the other. I've spent 15 months sleeping in my Transit and I'm sure it would work since we are not working with much weight compare to the capacity of just one locking glide. & you will also save on some unnecessary weight (guessing 5+ lbs each) by eliminating one slide.

Hi George, rather than your wooden board sticking up to hold the bike via the downtube, consider obtaining another front wheel clamp that can then be mounted onto the slider base board already in place. This way the front forks when the front wheel has been removed simply fit onto the Front wheel clamp which uses its lever to close and clamp the frame in place. You will have to construct a suitable mounting with an appropriate hole for the clamp. I use this for three bikes across a frame that fits either in the back of my truck, on my trailer or the roof rack. I have never lost a bike. Belt and braces - place a small rachet strap in place. Kind regards Gavin

I like how you are incorporating side-to-side centered water tanks, so fill level does not off balance the weight distribution. Also position optimal for vehicle dynamics. It does seem that RV water pumps are short lived regardless of make. Wonder what the failure point is, and could it be a repairable component since getting a replacement on a trip can be difficult and expensive. Vehicle manufacturers have figured out fuel pumps that last nearly forever, maybe something designwise could transfered to water application. Have you looked for manifolds with built-in valves?

The most efficient use of the accumulator occurs with the pre-charge set at the SAME pressure as the pump's pressure switch “turn on” setting. Typically, a 45 psi [3 bar] pump will turn on around 30 psi [2.07 bar]. Therefore, the pre-charge should also be 30 psi [2.07 bar].

we need to talk about the bike rack. (It could be so much better)... also with a rear wheel on the bike (front removed), why would you need to lean into pick it up as you can ROLL it on the rear wheel??? skip the entire $ complicated heavy BS tray slider thing. I pick my bike up outside the van, roll it into place on it's rear wheel, and hang it from the handle bar w a pair of carabiners (sits on rear wheel). so simple, so stable, inviolately adjustable, (also works on a hook into the bottom of steering tube of fork, or a padded strap under the a tube). just sayin' love your work.

When you roll a bike on it rear wheel, the pedals rotate. In this tight space, we cannot afford pedal rotation. Also, you are most likely a younger robust individual. Rolling a bike in and out of a tight space is not that easy for some people. I build to those considerations.
