Emi- I would like to thank you. About a year ago, I went to an animal rescue habitat building. (A Bday Party) There I met a rat. He was the sweetest thing, and a I instantly fell in love. From then, i started doing research. Tons of it. After about 8-9 months of straight, daily research, i confronted my parents. I mentioned a rat, and my mom was instantly grossed out. Of course by then i knew that rats were not gross at all, and actually have less bacteria than other common house pets. So i came up with a couple of pages showing the abundance of research had done. My parents pulled back their no, but it wasn’t a yes either. They were concerned that i wouldn’t like to care for them daily. (I’m almost 12, so i understand their concern) Recnetly, after many, MANY conversations, they agreed. of course i am not getting them now, but i am in late july. (more research) The reason i am thanking you, you were the main reason i got into rats and understood the time and effort it took. Without you i am afraid i would of gotten maybe 1 rat, terrible cage, not enough proper toys, wrong food, and so much more. You helped me convince my parents, and i will be always thankful for that. - a grateful subscriber

Hi Emi! Regarding cat litter trays - I have two indoor cats and we use a DIY tray shaker (essentially two trays, top one has small holes which we drilled out) and we use wooden pellets. When they have a wee, the wooden pellets become dust (once dry) and you can shake the dust down to the bottom tray - a great way to save money (also it doesn’t seem to smell). I buy the 30L bag of wood pellets from PetsAtHome for less than £8, and lasts around 3 months. 😸

i hand washed my hammocks before i reconciled to machine washing them (my mischief grew in size so i tripled the amount of hammocks. I used a scrub brush, water and vinegar and salt (to scrub with and purify) hang dry.

I'd 100% purchase them, as long as they aren't almost the same. I think some merch with Crumble just surrounded by food would be amazing. Stick Astley surrounded by music notes would be something else I'd purchase. Of course, you don't have to listen to any of my ideas. Here is a tip I figured out. Buy multiple LAVA LEDGES and place them in areas where the ratties are quite likely to need/use them. U can attach them to a bracket if needed and affix them literally anywhere outside the cage including walls. And guess what? NO MORE NAIL TRIMMING!!!! I swear. The lava stones naturally trim their nails!

Tomorrow they’ll be a week old. Also I’m curious about that green bag you got to put in the washer where’d you get it?

Btw, this is something that I was really concerned about with my rats but they were losing hair in front of their ears and on the backs of their necks. Then one of my rats suffered from a head tilt and then he was the only one missing hair and my other boy started growing his back. Barbering is very common in rodents, u can look it up if u see ur animal losing hair. I came to the conclusion that my rats were barbering each other but when one of them was a bit weaker than the other he was not able to barber his brother so the hair started growing back, anyway, this is pretty common and this is a very probable reason why ur rats are losing hair on places they can’t barber themselves.

Have you tried the fresh step cat littler crystals. Heard from a friend that has lots of cats that it works great and the crystals soak up the iron and you just scoop the poop away. Maybe that would work for you so you don’t have that many clumps to scoop out. Idk just suggesting. :)

I brought the same purifier that you have last week but it smells so strongly of plastic and makes the room stuffy/smell weird once on. I think it’s a manufacturing issue with the one I brought but do you happen to know any others that might work?
