Key difference: The humvee gets a scratch and no one even notices, the Raptor gets a scratch and the owner cries for two months until paying $1000 to get it fixed. These dark color Raptors that show every scratch crack me up.

There's ways to prevent it from happening. I tape my truck up before every excursion and I don't come home with any new scratches or chips. Honestly it is the daily driving that is hardest on the truck....

This video is a great example of what makes a vehicle good at offroading. The key factors being approach and departure angle, length of wheelbase (shorter is better, in general), and what kind of traction the tires obtain. While power is important, it isn't usually going to make a difference if gearing is sufficient.

@flight2k5 the longer the wheelbase, the higher the clearance required to avoid getting high centered. The shorter the wheelbase, the lower one can be to avoid being high centered. The shorter the wheelbase, the lower the center of gravity needs to be to avoid rolling. The longer the wheelbase, the higher the center of gravity can be before rolling is a danger. Really, they all have their pros and cons.

I drove the humvee in the ARMY...they will go through anything, but they break down a lot. They are not fast either LOL. I was thinking about getting one from them auctions but they are just to costly for maintenance and as for parking they are wide...made for driving in the tanks trail. Land mines and such.

The old Hummvee is still a superior 4x4. But the raptor is still a very capable 4x4, with way more comfort. I love the Humvee though and that’s what I’d prefer any day.

Ever seen one on hwy? They are crawling around 55 mph, really testing the patience of a lot of drivers. The beauty of the Raptor is that not only it is a great desert runner, not built to be a great off-roader, it is also very well behaved on hwy and city street.

@@skrrt1321 you're gonna spend $70k just for offroading only? Okay rich man. Ford engineered the F150 Raptor as a desert runner. That's why they took it out to compete at the Baja 1000. Sure, it can also do some off-road in stock form. But putting it up to extreme off road is like listing your chicken for a flying contest, then cry about it.

Good video, you can see what each truck was made for. All things considered, the Raptor is very capable even when crawling, which is not its main element.

Raptor was cute But no production truck can compete with humvee in off road . The raptor is going to the shop after that while the humvee is ready for another round and another tank of gas!. If the aluminum bodied raptor ever collide with the humvee , the result would be fatal on the raptor. There's just no competition apart from the raptor being way faster.

@@alwaysdriven No civilian production vehicle period is competing with the humvee.... in terms of durability because why would they? Military vs Civilian use. One is designed to protect passengers against collisions with other vehicles, and the other is designed to protect against bullets in a war zone, but offroad? There are many that do better to waaay better. The Humvee's cross country performance is not actually that good. The suspension is generally pretty terrible. It is too stiff (because its made to carry several hundred pounds of equipment, not including more than 1000lbs of armor), has lackluster dampening and it has very little articulation, making it not great if you took it to do some actual rock crawling, high speed offroading... or well anything that would be fun in a vehicle purpose built for any of that. These things were not comfortable in the slightest. Look how it did in the bumps. Sure it could maybe take more jumps, but because of its poor suspension, it's jumping a whole lot more too compared to the Raptor that soaks them up almost like the Baja trucks it is trying to emulate. The body motion at speed on the Raptor is well controlled, whereas the Humvee is out of control. I don't need to tell you that this isn't what you want. And another note about durability, They make crumple zones in cars for a reason. Its about absorbing and directing energy. A rigid vehicle will transfer more energy to the passenger and cause more harm, but a vehicle that crumples in the right way can deflect all that energy around the passenger, reducing the chances of severe injury significantly. Doesn't matter that the vehicle survived if you didn't. :P

@@alwaysdriven Yet the people in the Raptor have a chance to walk away with little to no injuries assuming it's not a head on collision at high speeds. While as the people in the Humvee are at a high risk to end up with far more injury. Plenty of studies out there via crash tests etc that modern cars are far safer for passengers than full metal cars. But some people prefer the vehicles to be intact as opposed to themselves or their passengers I guess.

@@JoshSmith-mm1fi it’s a civilian version of what was built for Baja. That’s like saying the HUmmer H2 was built for war. It was a civilian version as well with some aspects brought over to make a off road SUV. But it’s not the Humvee and the raptor is not a Baja racer. The lack of a real Baja suspension alone makes it useless in a Baja race.

When I’m traffic sometimes I wish I was driving a Hummer like that, some people deserve to have their car crushed while my Hummer still looks the same, I know the raptors are amazing trucks full of tech but that military Hummer has everything you need!! Made rough and almost indestructible!!

These exhausts on these new raptors are terrible. At least on the SVT Raptors you could take the tips off in 2 seconds with just a wrench and as a bonus the tow hooks were lower and you could use them to protect your truck from hard descent angles

The raptor would need a long travel suspension kit, it's too low compared to the wheelbase, that's why it get stuck ontop of the hill.

At the end of the day - the best choice for totally impractical, and not fully reliable fun in life would be that Hummer awesomeness! But for a bit more practicality and day to day living - the Raptor without doubt! To own Raptor and weekend warrior Humvee would be the most ideal!
