This day was full of unexpected surprises in our barangay in the Philippines!
It was also my first time to experience Holy Week activities in the country. The emptiness of the streets and the street parade were both surprising to see as this holiday is celebrated so differently in my home country, Hungary!

*thank you for correcting the proper term in the video: procession! English is not my first language and in Hungarian we'd use the same word for both parade and procession therefore my mistake.* Thank you for joining us! ❤️ I'm glad I ended up vlogging on this "regular day" as it turned out to be so much fun! Days like these are the ones I love the most about my life here. Just being able to learn more about the Philippines and be part of the local life. Glad I got to share it with you also! See you Guys soon again when Jonathan gets better. 😊

Thank you for going out of your way (and to SIL Joan for taking you) to witness a tradiotional Holy Week procession (a more traditional and formal religious commemoration where a parade is a festive and celebratory one ü ). We've not been to any of N.E.'s Holy Week commemorations, but have witnessed how they do it "the old way" (so to speak) in Calatagan (Batangas), Cavite, Calamba in Laguna, Antipolo, Mexico and San Fernando in Pampanga and Vigan in Ilocos Sur with its "abong-abong" or made-up "stations" in which the _carrozas_ or religious floats stop and everyone says a prayer. It was in Calatagan (Batangas) and Mexico (Pampanga) where we also witnessed the über traditional self back-lashing of the flagellants which were all of riveting, mesmerizing, kind of emotional and dramatic. No, we have not and had no reason to witness the [in]famous Pampanga crucifixions. Mexico, San Fernando (Pampanga) and Vigan (Ilocos Sur) had the most impressive carrozas, topped only by the one used to be held in Intramuros which we've not been to due to the number of people in attendance. Hope you could witness any of those in their respective provinces when you can. Or perhaps just research where within REG III provinces or towns hold those. "Tinola:" BTW, did you forget to sear the chicken with the O/G/G (onion/garlic/ginger)? =D Cahote/sayote is a perfect sub for green papaya, so you did fine =) Happy Easter to you both and your families! Hope Jonathan is better. PS. It may be fun but be careful with sudden downpours and wading in the waters esp. barefoot. Leptospirosis in common not just in the cities but in rural areas and farms, too. Stay safe!

Best Holy Week destination is in Marinduque “The Moriones Festival” it’s a whole week celebration from Monday to Sunday with lots of activities. Travel guide: from Manila to Lucena City and Roro ship from Lucena port to Marinduque Island. It is a little bit vibe of Vigan City and Gapan in Boac Marinduque.
