Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

I wasn't part of the voting back then, but since '08, I've had the right. And you're absolutely correct. Only the rich make it to the end of the election process. This shit is a complete joke and I wish there was a way to change it. But honestly, we gave our rights up, to change anything, a long time ago. So here we are. Watching a car crash in slow motion, with no way to stop it.

+xnonsuchx The irony in this comment. This can be said about Clinton supporters. She claims to be a progressive but how can she be a progressive when she accepts money from special interest groups that do not want TPP, fracking, and universal healthcare to be addressed. Like Jill Stein said, "Trump praises dictators but Hillary takes their money."

The brutal naked truth is that democracy in America has always been an ideal objective. But, we actually never had a true democracy. We have a republic that uses democratic processes to elect representatives to the government. However, the oligarchy has always controlled for whom the populace would vote which has gotten increasingly perverted in the past fifty years.

Well it is called comedy. No one says Bernie was not a serious candidate. He is actually a very respected political figure but maybe America didn't want to change as much as he wanted; maybe American people wanted to go in the other direction and have potentially 8 years of the traditional democrat government which has proven in many cases to be quite the success. It's not always about winning, sometimes it's about the massage and I'm sure most people got the massage, that they youth of America does not favor the conservative capitalism and they are open to changes.

You need to study up on economics or, better yet, start & run a business. Only fools think economies can run from the top down without consequence. You should also check some history to see how medical & college costs got where they did; they both skyrocketed because of government intervention. I can supply you with the information if you want an honest discussion, but i get the feeling you're more into blasting hot air. We've already done that with Hillary. It may have been her job, and so is above accusation, but defending a pedophile she admitted that she believed had done it for a favor in one of her first lawyer cases because the defendant wanted a female defender is something that I do find extremely pertinent. As is Bill Clinton's Cosby+ esque lifestyle, and Jane Sander's irresponsible mis-investment of a Libral Arts collage's credit. But, you know we did not have a pure look at him,. the media showcased him as a "fringe candidate" the only problem with that being that they couldn't possibly win so focus on the pre-inaugurated candidate who has actually received donations from the corporations that run some of the electronic polling machines, as well as many others. She's had shadows cast on her lightest offences.

+Albert Gamble The only vote for Trump is a vote for Trump. A vote for Johnson is just that, a vote for Johnson. That kind of flawed logic is why we've put ourselves in the position of a two-party duopoly which doesn't actually represent the people. If everyone who wanted a third option during this election cycle "wasted" their vote on Johnson (who is already on the ballot in EVERY state, and may very well make it into the debates), he would win in a landslide. Don't waste a vote on the lesser of two evils

British (English actually) people did the same thing, many voted for leave mainly to make a statement, being pissed bc of right-wing politics that affected them (sometimes not knowing it's actually right-wing -- austerity, social services and education cuts etc.), and were shocked when it turned out 'leave' actually won. Now they're f*cked, since regardless of how neo-liberal EU under Merkel is, lots of its rules protect workers and it funded hugely poor regions of the country (which voted by much higher percentage to leave). Now Tories can do what they want in making poor more poor, privatize healthcare as they planned and so on.

It just seems like giving everyone everything they want because we are the vast majority.

Then why did he let his supporters keep donating to him if his plan was just to change Hillary's platform.
@andiamador7156
@andiamador7156 8 жыл бұрын
That wasn't the plan. Changing the platform was plan B. And he isn't done after that. We have a very undemocratic Democratic Party, it turns out. You haven't been following things very closely, have you? He got close to half of the Democratic Party vote despite election fraud and media blackouts. Millions of independents, who would never have been interested in voted before, couldn't even vote for him in the primaries and millions of faultily supplied provisional ballets for independents and people whose Democrat voter registrations were changed to Independent or Republican or revoked without their consent were thrown away and/or never completed counting. Exit polls and machine tallies didn't match---way off, off worse than the kind that gets elections thrown out in other countries with a lot of corruption and struggling with democracy. There are numerous lawsuits regarding the election in the process of being filed, but they will provide the results too late. The FBI and DOJ did not do their jobs. Intent is not required for gross negligence. Gross negligence is prosecuted. There's more to come on that front, too. However, we will be into the general election at that point, and likely into the presidential term, supposing that she wins the general election we can have another scandal riddled administration. She doesn't poll all that well against Trump as it is. Bernie polled better against Trump. But for the Democratic Party and the MSM, the most important thing was the outcome of the Democratic primary and not the general election, I guess. He had thousands of real people attend his rallies when Clinton had a hard time filling up a high school gym. Bernie had so many more small donation donors and we all know where Hillary got most of her money. What was Bernie supposed to think as he ran the race and it went along? That the DNC was so much for Hillary that he could never stand a chance in the first place? Well there is evidence of that, and a lawsuit regarding that too, because we were defrauded by the Democratic establishment. So when people know what we know, and why we supported Bernie and voted like we did, they can understand why we feel like we do now. Millions of people know they got screwed over when they tried to vote. They will never vote for Hillary because of it. The DNC screwed us all and put us at risk of Trump or Hillary, the lesser of two evils by a wee bit.

@@DyLeN17 Bernie never said that he was staying in to change the results. Such funds can also go toward future campaigns and paying off debts (I read that there are literally Presidential campaigns from the 1980s that _still_ have unpaid debt). It also served as the beginnings of Our Revolution, which works to help elect down ballot candidates sympathetic to his message and for issue advocacy. There are legitimate reasons to keep accepting donations after the race is lost.

Indicting Hillary was the obvious choice, but that would mean the democratic party just let their frontrunner/presumptive nominee make the whole party look untrustworthy. They definitely considered what the other consequences would be with her getting indicted.

@crimsonking8942

FiniteAutomaton You're wrong. Before the primary process even began, Clinton was just handed around 500 delegates, courtesy of the establishment. That's the equivalent of winning the California primary, and then some. The mainstream outlets did Bernie no favors, as they supported Clinton all the way. They would always count the superdelegates, along with the pledged delegates, as if the nominee had already been decided. That's irrefutable. As for the argument that the system of superdelegates was put in place to deny weak candidates the nomination, Hillary is essentially tied with Trump. Bernie has consistently bested Trump by double-digits. That's according to polls dating back since February, all the way to today. The corrupt establishment won't have any of it.

Uh, she did actually. That's why she won the nomination. I voted for Bernie, but he was the one who failed to drum up enough support. You have to live with the fact that Hillary and Trump are the major nominees and that you have a choice between the two. Voting third party is effectively the same as not voting.

Instead, I want to help the WORST people get elected - in every election - by splitting the votes of the people who oppose him." There, I fixed it for you. And yes, I _do_ understand. That's why I feel nothing but contempt for people like you. If you want to amend the U.S. Constitution, so multiple parties would work here, fine. Good luck with that. Otherwise, just look at what Ralph Nader voters did to us. _That's_ what you're pushing, more right-wingers winning elections because progressives are too stupid to understand the U.S. electoral system.

He has some things I like, for example his tax plan, he's anti PC and speaks his mind even if I completely disagree with him and think his ideas can be knee jerk reactions to current events, and maybe its a good idea to have a business man running this country rn. But even if you completely disagree with me which is fine... Hey, at least he's not fucking Hillary.

I've always found it remarkable that people supporting trump tote the fact he's "a businessman." First of all, I'm not sure why that would be a good thing as a businesses top priority is to look out for itself, and a government that does such a thing I wouldn't think would jive with trump supporters, and secondly, he's an absolutely atrocious businessman. just terrible. It's just an image. I'm not saying any of this in mean spirit, I absolutely understand where you're coming from, I'm just confused as to how you got to Trump from there.

+Mr Mojo Risin' how in the fuck is he a bad business man. Literally how. Like 2 out of his 80 something companies went out of business. That's fucking remarkable in all honesty. What I don't get from super anti trump people is that you say things like "he's racist, he's a bad business man" etc but you never really have the evidence to back it up ever.

What? I'm all for Bernie but endorsing another nominee in your party is conceding. He's not conceding his values or the revolution but he absolutely conceded this race. Pull your head out of your ass and realize that the revolution is not a Sanders presidency but a change in how we handle politics in America. Read up on your Senator, House Representative, and local legislature.

+lth5015 Bernie has done so much for the average Joe. He tried his hardest to push the very same party that shunned him, all the way to the left. He's managed to force concessions from the DNC platform, as well as appoint members to it. He's inspired a whole generation to participate in the electoral process. Most importantly, he did was hasn't been done before, particularly in the era of citizens united. He's funded his campaign on the backs of the people, to reach all across the nation and inspire all sorts of people. He came closer than anyone would have thought and he gave the mighty establishment a run for their money. He's left his mark on modern American politics.
