Hunt for an old taconite mine - Mercer / Butternut in Iron County Wisconsin

Жыл бұрынIn this episode my Father and I search for an old abandoned Taconite mine that we found while exploring over 40 years ago. Neither of us has been back since so we thought we would revisit the area that meant so much to him growing up and see if we could find it.

it was a hematite mine .taconite was not mined here, the iron was at least 60 % pure as it was shipped out and only pure ore was profitable. the trash heaps near the old mines has a higher iron content than most taconite mines
